Yesterday I talked about my concerns and worries over the health of family members when I discussed Passing Time. Today I’m thinking more about what happens after we die? What do you believe happens to us after we die?
As a Christian I have very strong beliefs about what happens after we die. Firstly I want to give you some words from scripture Isaiah 35:8-10 (The Message):
There will be a highway
called the Holy Road.
No one rude or rebellious
is permitted on this road.
It’s for God’s people exclusively—
impossible to get lost on this road.
Not even fools can get lost on it.
No lions on this road,
no dangerous wild animals—
Nothing and no one dangerous or threatening.
Only the redeemed will walk on it.
The people God has ransomed
will come back on this road.
They’ll sing as they make their way home to Zion,
unfading halos of joy encircling their heads,
Welcomed home with gifts of joy and gladness
as all sorrows and sighs scurry into the night.
In other words when we die, I believe it is simply our earthly body that dies, and if we have been witnesses for Jesus here on earth and done all God asks of us, our spirit will return to heaven, so that we can be with our Heavenly Father forevermore. There we will be reunited with those who have lived on earth and have died before us, our family and friends, our loved ones.
In heaven we will be free from all sin, all worries, all concerns…we will be at peace forever.
That i think is also the phrase we need to remember when we worry about losing family or friends…that they “will be at peace forever“.
