If you are a Christian, I’d ask you today to look back at your life before the time you asked God into your heart…now look at your life now, has the way you lived your life changed?
If your life hasn’t changed, it would suggest that you haven’t given the whole of your life to God. When God is at the centre of our life, we must put out of our lives all things that are not Christ-like.
He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Rather than wishing for change, you first must be prepared to change. ~ Catherine Pulsifer
We often ask God to help us be more Christ-like, but do we really mean it?
We can pray and ask God to help us be more Christ-like, however if we don’t really mean what we’re saying or we don’t truly believe that God can help us, will it happen?
Even when it comes to our faith and our trust in God, we still need to be willing to change for God. In other words, we can go through the motions of asking God to help us be like Christ, however if we’re not willing to change from the inside-out, even God can’t change us!
So today, my challenge to you is this…
Are you ready for a change? Are you ready to change from the inside for God?
I am not what I want to be.I am not what I should be.I am not what I one day will be.But, thank God, I’m not what I once was.
From the moment we are born, we start our journey through life, initially knowing nothing. However each moment we spend on earth the more we learn from those around us, and from our environment. Some of what we learn is good for us and will help us in life, other things will not helps us be all we can be.
Even if we’re lucky enough to be taught about God from an early age, it doesn’t mean we automatically become able to choose the best path for our life. However, regardless of whether we were taught about God from an early age, or have just recently become aware of Him, we can be assured that God is with us, and, if we ask Him, He will help us make the correct choices in our life and make us better people.
Personally I grew up in a family where although my Dad isn’t a Christian, my Mum was and therefore I was aware o God and taught about God from an early age. But just like everyone else, I have made many many mistakes and done some things I’m not proud of, however I believe that because I have asked God into my life, He has forgiven me for all the things I have done wrong, and has helped me be the person I am today.
I am definitely not saying I am perfect now because God has helped me! I am simply saying that because God is helping me, I now live a more Christian life, however there is still huge room for improvement on my part!
I trust God to help me become a better person, a better Christian, I pray that you too will put your full trust in God, so that that He can help you too to be all He needs and wants you to be.
We’ve been thinking about influences the last few days (Looking or Not and Your Influence), but today I want to focus your thoughts on those who have influenced you.
Who have been or are your biggest influences?
For each person you’ve identified as an influence in your life, consider the following:
Do they know how much they have influenced you? (don’t assume anything!)
Are they a positive or negative influence?
Positive Influencers
Positive influencers can be many things. Here’s a few examples:
make you feel happy
help you grow spiritually
mentor you in a work capacity
If they’ve been a good influence on you:
Have you told them that?
Have you thanked them?
Go on, tell them the next time you’re speaking to them, it may well make their day!
Negative Influencers
Negative influencers can be many things. Here’s a few examples:
make you feel worthless/useless
encourage you to do/say things that you don’t agree with
continually mood or talk negatively
How long have you know they are a negative influence you? Or have I just focused your thoughts so you could identify them for the first time?
Take control of your live! Don’t let negative influences continue to influence you. I don’t mean you have to stop talking to the people you feel are negative influences on you – I just think it’s more about you taking control of your life, and deciding for yourself what and who influences you. I have people in my life who are bad influences on me, so I know I need to take my own advice and not let these people influence me in this way any longer.
The Changeby Steven Curtis Chapman:
C’mon, together we can overcome our negative influencers and be more positive people!
Question: Will my life change in any way if I give my heart to Jesus?
I will never be the same again, I can never return, I’ve closed the door. I will walk the path, I’ll run the race And I will never be the same again. I will never be the same again, I can never return, I’ve closed the door. I will walk the path, I’ll run the race And I will never be the same again.
Fall like fire, soak like rain, Flow like mighty waters, again and again. Sweep away the darkness, burn away the chaff, And let the flame burn to glorify Your name.
There are higher heights, there are deeper seas, Whatever you need to do, Lord do in me. The Glory of God fills my life, And I will never be the same again.
Fall like fire, soak like rain, Flow like mighty waters, again and again. Sweep aways the darkness, burn away the chaff And let a flame burn to glorify Your name.
Fall like fire, soak like rain, Flow like mighty waters, again and again. Sweep away the darkness, burn away the chaff, And let a flame burn to glorify Your name.
I will never be the same again, I can never return, I’ve closed the door. I will walk the path, I will run the race And I will never be the same again. And I will never be the same again. And I will never be the same again.
With God at the centre of your life, you need never fear another tomorrow as God is with you at all times. He will work in your life and help you do whatever He asks you to do. With God you can achieve wonderful things!
