Invisible

The first verse of a well-known hymn says:

Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise.

I want to focus on just one word in the first line of this song, “Invisible“. God is invisible as a person, but larger than life when it comes to His actions and His love for us. However so many in people still deny God’s existence simply because they can’t physically see God.

But think about this, you can’t see the air, yet it doesn’t mean you stop breathing. Similarly, just because you can’t see God, don’t stop believing in His…and if you have never believed in God, why not give God a chance to show you how much He loves you.

God may be physically invisible, but He is certainly not non-existent!

Endless

tearsThere are some things which can seem endless. Some that are good and some not so good. Things like the love and support from family and friends can feel endless which is obviously good. While a continual string of bad or events which affect your life are the complete opposite.

I’ve felt for the last few years that my life has just been one constant struggle after another between my own health problems as well as health  problems and other issues affecting other members of my family. This has all culminated in the last few weeks with my Dad passing away and now my 90-year-old aunt being admitted to hospital a couple of weeks ago with a bad chest infection and not eating or drinking, and then just a few days ago being told my aunt had probably had a stroke and it was unlikely she’d pull through.

How does that make me feel? Well at times I question God, as I’m sure we all do sometimes, “why me?”, but other times I acknowledge that God wouldn’t let me go through these experiences if he didn’t think I could handle them.

That doesn’t make me feel any better during these tough days, and it of course doesn’t make my life any easier, but it does remind me that God lives me and walks beside me in all situations, even though it may feel to me that he’s deserted me.

So when you are going through what seems like an endless string of bad things, remember God is there and is supporting you in all at all times.

I recently read the following quote on Twitter:

There are no mistakes in life, just lessons.

Yes, things happen in life that hurt and upset us, cause us to question life in general and even question God’s existence, but everything that happens to us, happens for a reason. It’s because there’s a reason for everything happening that we can never make mistakes.

I know that sounds mad as of course we make mistakes! However it’s through our mistakes that we learn, and through our mistakes we learn to put our full faith and trust in God to provide all we need in life…from the smallest thing to the biggest desire, God can, and will, answer them all.

He’s Reliable

Ever wondered if you can rely on God in all situations and in all circumstances?

Well I can answer that for you…God is most definitely the most reliable person you will ever come across.

God’s love for us is unconditional for each and every one of us. God cares for us in every aspect of our lives in which He is part, but as God cares able every part of our life, His care for us is always reliable.

Who is like you, Lord God Almighty? You, Lord, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you. (Psalm 89:8 NIV)

Can You See God?

Stand in front of a mirror, look at yourself closely…yes, that’s your image you’re looking at which doesn’t tell you anything about the real person with you. So now, have a look inside your heart and your head…can you see God?

If you can’t see God in your heart and your head, others won’t be able to see God in your life either because if you are a true Christian, others will see God in you, and you too will see God in yourself.

I pray today that God is in your heart and in your head, and can be seen there by you and everyone else, however if He isn’t, I pray you will let God into your whole life today.

Is There Anybody There?

Have you ever wondered if God really does exist?

Sometimes when you’re going through a difficult spell in your life and you pray to God to help you through but nothing seems to improve, have you questioned God’s existence?

I suspect like me, many of you will have experienced times like these. However it’s during times like these that God really does prove he is there for us, even although sometimes it may feel as though he isn’t. God is always there for us, during the good and the bad times, the happy and sad times, the highs and the lows, through all these things God is there for us.

Just because your prayers haven’t been answered in the way you want, don’t assume that means God isn’t there. God has a plan for each of us, and He knows what is best for us, and that doesn’t always align itself with what we think is best for us.

So no matter what happens in your life, don’t ever doubt God’s existence, because is does exist and He is there for you.

Do You Really Know Me?

You may know my name.

You may be able to pick me out in a photograph.

You may see me every day

You may say hello to me every day.

You may talk to me frequently.

You in fact have known me for years.

But do you really know me?

For the almost all of you the answer will be No, because while you may think you know a lot about me, can you honestly say you know the “real” me?

Do you know what upsets me?

Do you know what I struggle with?

Do you know all the things that are going on in my life just now?

There’s only one person who truly knows how I feel, and truly knows me and understands how I feel…and that is God!

Don’t ever think you know everything about someone, because that simply isn’t possible, only God knows exactly who we are and how we feel.

 

A Friend In Need

We all need people we can love and trust and who love and trust us. We yearn for someone who we can share our deepest secrets, feelings and emotions with and who trusts us enough to share their deepest secrets and emotions with us too.

It’s a wonderful feeling when you find someone you feel comfortable enough with to share some of these feelings with. I personally experienced that feeling a few years ago when I was going through a really really tough time, and I must admit it was almost like the someone had turned the sun back on again, when I found someone I could share some of my deepest feelings and fears with. What made that time even more special was that I discovered this person could very much relate to my feelings, as they were going through some tough times themself at that time.

How great it was to have a friend and confidant to rely on…

Can you tell there is a “but” or “however” coming next? Unfortunately after a few months that friend was no longer there for me, and I must admit I was deeply hurt and disappointed. However I truly believe that God sent that friend to me during my darkest days and when He felt I could go on by myself, He moved that friend on to be someonelse’s angel.

God does give us the friends we need, when we need them.

Appreciate your friends, old ones and new ones, as they may be the friend God send you when are most in need.

Storms

Some people seem to be able to get through life without any problems or worries…but do they really?

Personally I do not believe that some people go through life without any problems – I think that some people are just better at coping with the stresses and problems life throws their way.

We all face storms, it’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when. Just believe right through them

God has promised to always be there for us, during the bad times as well as the good times. Sometimes when life is a struggle it can simply seem harder to trust God, but that shouldn’t stop us believing in Him – It should in fact encourage us to believe and trust Him even more.

I know I’ve used the following song Praise You In This Storm by Casting Crowns, a number of times, however it is one of my favourites, and it does fit perfectly with today’s blog. I hope you enjoy it…again:

Coincidence

‎A few days ago, I came across the following quote by Archbishop William Temple:

You can call it coincidence if you like but all I know is that when I pray, coincidences happen and when I don’t, they don’t!

If you don’t belive in the existence of God I’m sure you’ll say that whatever happens is just a coincidence, no matter how unlikely these events are to happen together. If however if you’re like me and believe in God, I’m sure like me, you’ll agree with what the Archbishop said.

I truly believe all things happen for a reason, and that reason is God. Coincidences don’t just happen by accident, they happen because God has a reason for them happening.

Don’t believe in coincidences, believe in prayer because it really does make things happen!
