A prayer for Christ‘s future following His birth…through to His death

Imagine before your child was born, you knew what was in store for them…all their greatest achievements, all their lowest moments, all their toughest decisions and all their easiest choices…

But what if you knew your child was going to perform deeds of greatness, teach thousands about God, and then while still a young man, be killed on a cross…

I’m sure if you knew the future for your child, you would do all you could to prevent the bad things from happening, however God has planned our life out for us before we were even born. If Jesus hadn’t been born in a stable lived the life He did, and then die on a cross at Calvary, my life would be so different.

It’s because Jesus came to earth to do His Father’s will that we celebrate Christmas, so please makes sure you keep Christ in Christmas this and every year.

I’ve said it a number of times already in my blog posts, but I want to remind you again that we must love everyone. God doesn’t want us to pick and choose who we love.

In the following verse from St Luke’s gospel, we get some instructions on how we should react or respond in some rather unpleasant situations:

Luke 6:27 (The Message)

Love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer for that person. If someone slaps you in the face, stand there and take it. If someone grabs your shirt, gift wrap your best coat and make a present of it. If someone takes unfair advantage of you, use the occasion to practice the servant life. No more tit-for-tat stuff. Live generously.

This list above is not the ultimate list of situations, however it does tell us that whatever the situation we find ourselves in, no matter how pleasant, we must respond with kindness and with love.

Love is stronger than hate, and therefore will touch even the hardest of hearts.

Love isn’t an opportunity to pick and mix who we love, we must love everyone, always!
