Jeremiah 29:11-13 (NKJV) says:

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

God knows and loves each one of us, and promises to listen whenever we pray to Him. Prayer isn’t just about just talking to God, it’s about believing that God is there and is listening to our prayers.

God hears each prayer we utter, each request we make. We can talk to God about anything and everything, and he will listen. So don’t be afraid to talk to God about anything, because even if you never actually utter the words, He knows what’s in your heart.

Proverbs 16:27-28 (NIV)

A scoundrel plots evil, and on their lips it is like a scorching fire.A perverse person stirs up conflict, and a gossip separates close friends.

Sadly, there are many people in this world who always seem to get some kind of perverse pleasure out of stirring things up and causing trouble for others. I’m guessing you’re now thinking about those you know who fit that description! They’re not terribly nice people are they?

Jeremiah 1:19 (NIV)

They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the LORD.

And that is how we overcome those who would conspire to make this world a world full of pointless and meaningless conflicts, just because they get some perverse pleasure from conflict. God can help us overcome sin, because Christ can and will overcome the world!

Life can be tough at times, and our circumstances and situations can change on a daily basis. One minute we may be finding life is a bed of roses and things couldn’t be better, the next minute we may find our life has been turned upside down with everything that could go wrong, going wrong.

It’s how we deal with life when it takes a turn for the worst that makes us the people we are.

There is one thing we should do regardless of whether life is treating us well, or we’re struggling to cope with what’s been thrown our way, and that is to pray about it.

God calls us to bring our concerns to Him so that He can help us with them, but He also calls us to share our times of triumph and joy with Him too. In other words He wants us to not only talk to Him when we need His help, but to talk to Him and say thank you when He’s provided us with all we need. This is backed up by scripture in Jeremiah 33:3 (The Message), where God tells Jeremiah:

Call to me and I will answer you. I’ll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.

Through prayer we can become close to God, and in doing so, He will become closer to us. So share your daily highs and lows with God each day, and He will be your closest friend.

If you’re not used to reading or studying the bible, it can be daunting knowing where to start, or how to plan your studying. I have therefore put together some thoughts which you may find helpful, to give you some pointers for your bible study.

Read The Bible With An Open Mind

Proverbs 3:5-7 (NIV)
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.

The bible is not a story book, it’s a book of instruction on what we need to do to live the life God wants us to live. Even so we must accept that the bible is no ordinary instruction book, but one inspired by God, just so He could tell us how much He loves each one of us.

Believe What The Bible Says

John 8:32 (NKJV)
“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

The bible is not always easy to read or indeed understand, but don’t let that stop you from believing in God or in what the bible says. I’m a Christian of many years, but I still do not know or understand what God is trying to tell me in some parts of the bible. So don’t despair if you’re struggling to see God’s big picture. I believe that as our faith and knowledge of God grows, so does our understanding of His message to us. Therefore, in time I believe God will answer all our questions, all our doubts – It’s simply a matter of trusting Him to help us gain understanding of His message.

Jeremiah 29:13 (The Message)
When you come looking for me, you’ll find me. “Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.”

Love, as they say should be unconditional, but how many times did you dislike a person because of something they did or said?

How many relationships, marriages, families had broken because the various people involved, have fallen out of love because of some problems or personality conflicts?

Even if you don’t think so, I’m afraid that most of the time, our love for one another is conditional. But don’t despair, because in Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV) God said:

I have loved you with an everlasting love, I have drawn you with my loving kindness.

Although we may find our love for each other is conditional, God’s tells us in the above bible verse that His love is not just unconditional, but also everlasting. What he feels for you is not dependent on who you are and what you’ve done, it’s simply His nature to love you, no matter what.

Romans 8: 38-39 (The Message)

I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.

The verse above once again reinforces this fact that nothing we can say or do can make God stop loving us.

Thank you Lord for your love for us unconditionally!

So you’ve had a think about your dreams, but you’re still not sure if your dreams are God’s dreams for you, or whether they are your own dreams. Here are some questions to ask yourself about your dreams to help determine whether they are God focused or not:

  • Will the realisation of your dream benefit others?
  • Does your heart tell you dream is God focused?
  • Does your dream give you the opportunity to use your God given talents?
  • Do you find yourself thinking constantly about your dream and how you can achieve it?
  • Does your dream seem unreachable in your own strength?

So what were your answers? The chances are if you answered Yes to the last question, Does your dream seem unreachable in your own strength?, then it is a God focused dream.

Jeremiah 29:11 (The Message)

I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.

You will know when you’ve found your God focused dream, you’ll feel it in your heart

No matter how difficult you think it will be to achieve your dream, don’t shrink back from accepting it – You will not be alone, God will be with you to help you and provide you with all you need to achieve His dream for you!
