Just As I Am

One of my favourite hymns, Just As I Am, is a song I turn to often when I simply need to remind myself that God loves me just the way I am.

God loves each one of us just as we are, with all our faults and failings, all our joys and all our fears. God will always love us just as we are.

I personally find verses 3 and 5 of Just As I Am, are those I turn to for reassurance:

Just as I am, though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fightings within and fears without,
O Lamb of God, I come!

Just as I am, thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome , pardon, cleanse, relieve,
Because thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come!

Come to Jesus today, He has promised to welcome you with open arms.

Worthy

God is worthy of praise.
He does so much for us everyday.
Many of the things He does for us, we take for granted…our homes, food, friends, family, nature.
We may not always like the way God answers our prayers, but He has a plan for our lives, and everything He does for us is part of His plan for us.
Give God thanks today for all He does for you.

Worthy Is the Lamb!

Just As I Am

We’ve talked the last few days about plans and more specifically about God’s plans for our lives, but do you know how to come to God?

It’s simple, God wants you just as you are, faults and all - it couldn’t be any easier than that could it?

There is a wonderful old hymn which has always been quite personal to me, it’s called Just As I Am. This hymn fits in perfectly with my thoughts recently. The version I’ve shared with you here is by Brian Doerksen whose songs/arrangements I particularly like – I hope you enjoy this one as much as me!

Just as I am, without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bidst me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot,
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fightings and fears within, without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
Sight, riches, healing of the mind,
Yea, all I need in Thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because Thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, Thy love unknown
Hath broken every barrier down;
Now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, of that free love,
The breadth, length, depth, and height to prove,
Here for a season, then above,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!
