A leader/manager’s attitude rubs off on their team – It either enhances or impedes the team’s performance.
So what kind of attitude does your leader/manager have?
What kind of attitude do you have?
While you may not be able to positively influence the attitude of your leader/manager, you can change your own attitude. Therefore, have a critical look at yourself, and identify areas of your attitude that you can improve - don’t pretend there’s nothing you can improve, as none of us are perfect so we all have things we could improve on!
Let’s make our attitude matter and become great positive influences on other’s lives.
At the start of this year, I shared with you my aims for this year (Welcome to 2012) – not my new year resolutions, but what I aim to achieve this year. Then at the end of both January and February, I gave you a monthly update on how I was doing. So now it’s time for my March update:
Been a good month as far as healthy eating is concerned as on the whole I’ve been very good. The one exception to that was Easter weekend when I must admit to having had a couple of cream eggs and an Easter cup cake!
Lose some weight
Yay, I’m still losing weight but not as much as I did in the first 2-3 months of the year…but I’m definitely still going in the right direction.
I’m also happy to say it’s now becoming noticeable that I’ve lost some weight as several people have commented to me recently that I look as though I’ve lost weight.
Spend more time reading my bible
Been much more successful with this one in this last month, so happy with progress with this aim too!
Still suffering a lot with pain these days, and sometimes it’s almost unbearable, but I’m still managing to force myself to keep going and not give into it, even though it maybe means my pain levels remain higher for longer
Get back to playingtennisas stopped playing in 2003 when I first wasn’t well
My target time for getting back to trying to play tennis again was Easter
In the last few weeks I’ve considered going to my club for a wee hit around for 15 minutes or so before Mum and I go to visit my aunt on a Saturday afternoon. However each Saturday so far, there’s been no-one playing tennis at my club that I actually know!
So maybe next month!
Put aside a minimum of 5 minutes each day to spend somequiet-timewithGod
On the whole been fairly successful with this one, as I’ve made a point of trying to spend a minimum of 10 minutes “quiet-time” most days this month
Get back to playing the piano regularly as it’s been a while
Still not managed this one!
Go on holiday – we’ve not been away anywhere since 2002
Again, no progress on this one yet!
Keep on top of the housework (especially the ironing mountain!)
Definitely not getting anywhere with this one again as still too many other demands on my time any my energy these days…and it shows!
More patience and understanding of others
As I said last month, this is definitely one of my most challenging aims, but I feel I am a little more patient these days, however I would certainly not say I’m a patient person yet!
More prayer for patience is still required!
Stop procrastinating
Continuing to do much better with this, as I’m been much more focused in this last month
So that’s my honest answers to how I’m getting on with my aims for 2012 – To summarise my progress to date…it’s continuing to go OK as I’m still heading in the right direction with a number of my aims. However there are still some which I haven’t made any progress on to-date, so there’s still room for improvement in the coming months.
How about you, are you succeeding with your aims for 2012 so far?
Whatever your aims for this year, I pray you may be making progress in your aims for 2012, and that come the end of the year you will have achieved all God had planned for you this year!
Over the next few days I want to focus on how, as Christians, we should live our lives, using words from the bible for guidance.
The text I want to use today is from 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 (The Message):
And now, friends, we ask you to honour those leaders who work so hard for you, who have been given the responsibility of urging and guiding you along in your obedience. Overwhelm them with appreciation and love!
It’s true isn’t that as soon as someone takes up a position of authority or management, they immediately become the target for criticism from all directions.
Why is that? Is it because we all think we could do a better job, or think the person in question isn’t qualified to hold the position in question? Whatever the reason, we must remind ourselves that no matter what our own personal feelings about the person in question, we must conduct ourselves in a Christian manner. i.e. we must be supportive and encouraging at all times.
That can be very tough at times! I can honestly say I fail miserably at this at times, just as I’m sure many of you do. It’s hard trying to always do the right thing isn’t it!
As far as our church leaders are concerned, whether they be our ministers, musical leaders, or others in official positions, we must all work together, supporting one another, and working for the common cause, God! Our Christian life and our church life shouldn’t be about personalities and individuals, it should be about spreading God’s message to the world, and we will never achieve that if we don’t work together for each other rather than against one another.
In summary The Way He Wants You To Live #1 - support your leaders and show them your appreciation for all they do.
Ever wonder why certain things happen in your life?
We often face circumstances in our lives which are unexpected – sometime they can be good things other times they are situations which we’d rather hadn’t happened.
The reason everything happened in our life is all because of God, as described in 2 Timothy 1:9
It is he who saved us and chose us for his holy work not because we deserved it but because that was His plan
Good or bad, we must remember that everything happens in our life because God has planned it. We must always remember that without good and bad experiences in our life we would be the person we are today.

Today at work I realised I was 8 weeks behind in my timsheets – Oops! Mind you as well as noticing this I also realised that the “timesheet police” haven’t been after me yet, which is most unusual – They usually descend on you if you get more than a few weeks behind.
So having noticed how far behind I was, did I immediately catch up in my timesheets? Of course not! I hate filling in timesheets, and as I decided what difference is one more day behind going to make! It’s a task I usually do first thing in the morning before my brain is completely in gear, so will tackle this task tomorrow I suppose. Roll on tomorrow…not!
Anyway, all these thoughts about timesheets and how I’ve been spending my time, got me thinking a bit more generally about my time management…
times of boredom
times of joy
times of despair
times of learning
times of reflection
times of worry
times of work
times of relaxation
Where in all that is my “time for God”? I have got a bit of a reputation at work of being a very organised person (yes I know those of you who know me outside of work may be astounded by that but it’s true!), but that doesn’t seem to be reflected in my time management of my “time for God”. Also, look at my list again…how many of those “times of…” could be lessened id only I look them at to God in prayer!
Fitting in with today’s thoughts, please listen to the song For Such A Time As This…
Do you manage your time with God the way God expects and wants you to? Why not take a step back today and reevaluate whether you spend enough “quiet time” with God each day.
Today I attended the AIIM 2010 Roadshow in Glasgow. This was the first time I’ve attended one of these events, however having found it a useful day, I hope it won’t be my last.
Now I’m sure many of you will be wondering what is AIIM? AIIM is “the global enterprise content management association. It is AIIM is the community that provides education, research, and best practices to help organisations find, control, and optimize their information.
So why was I there? Well I’ve been a member of AIIM for almost a year, have gained my AIIM ECM Specialist accreditation (See my blog Real Life Training for more details), and currently project manager for our EDRMS project which it part of our overall ECM project. Now I’ve probably baffled many of you with acronyms, but suffice to say it’s all about managing your information and making to accessible and searchable platform independent.
Information is an asset that can be used to change reality, improve positioning, and reduce costs and risks. Knowledge is power, which means increased focus on the information worker in an electronic world. Web 2.0 has already started to influence how employees are connected to each other, and solutions like the iPhone, Facebook, and Twitter change our enterprise requirements for functionality and usability. Information workers want solutions like in Star Trek, and over the next few years we will see new worker models for business information and users.
At the roadshow today I was able to discuss our development plans for your EDRMS, as we will hopefully be rolling this our to other users over the coming months. That in itself provides some challenges as some of the areas we will be looking to roll this out to have some requirements which we have not yet catered for within our EDRMS/ECM solution. e.g. High volume scanning and classification, digital signatures. So there were several solution providers at the roadshow which were able to give me some useful information and may be able to help us move forward with our EDRMS/ECM project.
Thanks to AIIM for a good roadshow.
