I’m alive and well
Your spirit is within me
Because you died and rose again

I am alive, but I don’t always feel well. However in a spiritual sense all is well.

That hasn’t always been the case though I’m afraid, as I have been through some very dark times, when I did question God, and felt He had deserted me. However having got through those times, I know that the only reason I made it through those days was because God was with me and He was the one responsible for helping me through those days.

God lives in me, and I pray that as I live each day, others may realise these is something different about me, and that they can see Christ in me.

Amazing love
How can it can
That thou my God should die for me

I find it totally amazing that someone should died just so I can forever be forgiven of my sins. I don’t know about you, but I know of no-one else that would actually be willing to give their life for me.

Christ died over 2 thousand years ago, but still we celebrate His life, and His death after all these years. Who else can we say that about?!

As I’ve said several times over the last few days, I feel so humble and inadequate at all God has sacrificed for me, and all He continues to do for me. However, I know I can repay God for all the love He shows me on a daily basis, by giving the whole of my life to God.

How about you, are you thanking God for all he does for you by giving your life to Him? If you haven’t done so yet, today, Easter Monday is your day to say “Yes“, to Christ!

What do you think of when you hear the word missionary?

  • Foreign lands?
  • Travelling thousands of miles from home?
  • Poverty?
  • Homelessness?
  • Starvation?
  • Illness?

Let me challenge you by saying, given the amount of poverty, homelessness and hunger in some of our cities and towns, is it not about time we did more missionary work on our own doorstep?

Before anyone jumps on my back, I’m definitely not saying we shouldn’t help those in far away lands. I’m simply saying that for most of us we don’t have to go very far from our own homes to find people and children in grave need of our help.

Here’s The Mission by Newsboys:

“You’re joking”, I here you say! But am I…

Forgiveness is something God does every day – It’s something He does for us each day.

As a Christian, I try to live as Christ would, to be more like Him each day. That doesn’t mean I find it easy to forgive other. It also doesn’t mean that I always feel as though I even want to forgive some people, but i does mean that I ask God to help guide me and give me the desire and strength to forgive those who hurt, disappoint or let me down in some way.

God asks that we seek His help to become more Christ-like. He does not say that as soon as we ask for His help we will suddenly have the ability to do or say all the things we have asked Him to help us with.

So in order to forgive others we must be Christ-like – we must be sincere and honest when we forgive others, and to do so, we must pray asking God for guidance.

‎A few days ago, I came across the following quote by Archbishop William Temple:

You can call it coincidence if you like but all I know is that when I pray, coincidences happen and when I don’t, they don’t!

If you don’t belive in the existence of God I’m sure you’ll say that whatever happens is just a coincidence, no matter how unlikely these events are to happen together. If however if you’re like me and believe in God, I’m sure like me, you’ll agree with what the Archbishop said.

I truly believe all things happen for a reason, and that reason is God. Coincidences don’t just happen by accident, they happen because God has a reason for them happening.

Don’t believe in coincidences, believe in prayer because it really does make things happen!

A mission statement is a formal, short, written statement of the purpose of a company or organization. The mission statement should guide the actions of the organization, spell out its overall goal, provide a sense of direction, and guide decision-making.

Have your work or church or any other organisations you are part of, have a mission statement?

If so, can you recite that mission statement without having to look it up first?

My guess is most of us would not be able to freely recite mission statements of organisations we are part of or attend.

I think a lot of the mission statements that exist, have been written more with the people who know nothing about the organisation in mind , than actually considering the views/beliefs of those who are members or employees. So what difference does that make? I think there are good and bad point to this:

Good

  • People out with the organisation learn a little about its purpose/aim
  • The organisation appears to be reaching out to those not already part of their organisation

Bad

  • It doesn’t necessarily represent the aims/believes of the everyday members of the organisation
  • The statement id too general and wide-reaching to focus the aims/mission of its members

What’s your view of mission statements?

Personally my view is that mission statements are often just compiled just because they’re considered the “in-thing” to do, rather than because the members of the organisation will treat that mission statement at the true mission or aim or the organisation. After all of the organisations you are part of that have mission statements, how many times would you say you consider the mission statement, or think about whether you are working towards achieving the aims of that mission statement?

I just realised that over the last few days my blog posts have been quite heavy and touching on some very serious topics. Therefore I decided it was time for a change today, it was time to lighten up!

The best way to “lighten up” is to give all your worries and concerns to God so you can focus on all the positive things in your life.

God is the light in the darkness of this world, so let His love shine through you.

I hope you enjoy the Newsboys singing Shine:

Dull as dirt
You can’t assert the kind of light
That might persuade
A strict dictator to retire
Fire the army
Teach the poor origami
The truth is in
The proof is when
You hear your heart start asking,
“What’s my motivation?”

And try as you may, there isn’t a way
To explain the kind of change
That would make an Eskimo renounce fur
That would make a vegetarian barbecue hamster
Unless you can trace this about-face
To a certain sign…

[Chorus]
Shine
Make ‘em wonder what you’ve got
Make ‘em wish that they were not
On the outside looking bored
Shine
Let it shine before all men
Let’em see good works, and then
Let ‘em glorify the Lord

Out of the shaker and onto the plate
It isn’t Karma
It sure ain’t fate
That would make a Deadhead sell his van
That would make a schizophrenic turn in his crayons
Oprah freaks
And science seeks a rationale
That shall excuse
This strange behavior

When you let it shine
You will inspire
The kind of entire turnaround
That would make a bouncer take ballet
(even bouncers who aren’t happy)
But out of the glare
With nowhere to turn
You ain’t gonna learn it on “What’s My Line?”

I am free to run
I am free to dance
I am free to live for You
I am free
Yes, I am free

Are you?

We in this country are free to worship God as our Lord and Saviour, however even these days, there are still areas of the world, where people are persecuted because of their faith and their beliefs.

Make the most of the freedom we have by living your life for God. Pray to Him, listen to Him and do His will and be set free!

This one sentence says things far more clearly and concisely than I ever could:

The nicest place to be, is in someone’s thoughts, the safest place to be is in someone’s prayers & the best place to be is in Gods hands.

Blessed be Your name
in the land that is plentiful
Where your streams of abundance flow
blessed be Your name

and blessed be Your name
when I’m found in the desert place
though i walk through the wilderness
blessed be Your name

every blessing You pour out I’ll turn back to praise
and when the darkness closes in Lord still i will say:
blessed be the name of the Lord
blessed be Your name
blessed be the name of the Lord
blessed be Your glorious name

and blessed be your name
when the sun’s shining down on me
when the world’s “all as it should be”
blessed be your name

and blessed be your name
on the road marked with suffering
though there’s pain in the offering
blessed be your name

every blessing you pour out I’ll turn back to praise
when the darkness closes in Lord still i will say:
blessed be the name of the Lord
blessed be your name “JESUS
blessed be the name of the Lord
blessed be your glorious name

you give and take away
you give and take away
my heart will chose to say:
blessed be your name (blessed be your name lord)

This song speaks of many of life’s events and situations that we have to deal or cope with. What we all must remember is that through everything, God is there, and because of that we must sing His praises always.
