It’s good to know that you don’t need to struggle through life on your own. That even during your darkest of times, God will stay by your side and will carry you through…

He is my strength and He carries when I have no strength left.

Thank you God.

Does anyone care about you?

When you’re in trouble do you have anyone to talk to?

When you’re struggling is there someone you can talk to?

Is there someone I can talk to?
Someone on the line?
Does anybody want to hear
What’s on my mind?

The answer to all the questions I’ve asked you here is definitely, ”Yes“!

Do you know who cares about you, and who is always there for you when you’re in need? God!

No matter how strong a person we may be, we all have times when things concern or worry us, and we need someone to talk to. So please remember that God cares about everything that concerns you, so feel free to talk to Him about anything, at anytime!

Have you ever watched the TV programme called Would I Lie To you? It’s a comedy panel show hosted by Rob Brydon where two teams of contestants led by regulars, David Mitchell and Lee Mack, have to bluff about their deepest secrets. Points are awarded to the teams you correctly guess whether the “secrets” told by contestants are true or a lie. In other words, contestants have to be good at telling lies and good at covering up the truth!

While I do find some of the “secrets” told on the show and the ridiculous stories the contestants tell, quick funny at times, there’s something about that programme which just doesn’t sit right with me.

Is it just me?

I think it’s just because it’s giving the impression that telling lies fun…Not that fun isn’t good, but are we really give out the right message to people?

In a world where lies seem to common place to so many, let’s promote honesty and integrity and not lies!

Sometimes it can be hard to tell the difference between those who are friends and those who are true friends.

A true friend reaches for your hand and touches your heart ~ Heather Pryor

There are a lot of people in our lives who I guess we’d call friends if we were describing our relationship with them, to someone else, but think about this…how many of those people would actually reach out and help you in your time of need?

It’s when life it tough and you’re in need of someone to support and comfort you, that you find out who your true friends are. As the above quote says, true friends are the ones who reach out to you and touch your heart.

God commanded us to love one another, therefore our true friendships are from God, so give thanks to Him for every true friend you have.

1 John 4:7 (NIV)

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

Can you imagine a world where everyone judged themselves and not each other?

I’ve spoken before about how at times, we are all guilty of judging others based on either what we see or the little bit of their life that we know about. So can you imagine what life would really be like if no-one judged anyone else? It would be wonderful wouldn’t it?

I know that what I’m about to say, may sound simply like words that I’m just saying, rather than reality. However what I’m about to say is in fact the absolute truth, so don’t judge me! I’ve found myself in the last while, more and more aware of all my failings, and more aware of the times when I judge others unfairly or unnecessarily. I have being praying a lot that God will help me not to judge others, and I feel the very fact that I am able to identify these occasions shows God is working in me…I now just need His help to stop myself from actually judging others in the first place!

Even though God knows every little things about us, He still doesn’t judge us. So we must try to do the same. i.e. love everyone, and do not judge them.

I pray today that we will all look inside ourselves and judge ourselves before we even consider judging someone else, as we all have plenty of things in our own lives which we can greatly improve.

Talk, talk, talk, talk…

Some people just some to want to talk all the time don’t they? In my experience, those who talk constantly (often about nothing in particular), are the ones who think that those who are least likely to listen to what others have to say to them. Do you agree with that summary?

I also think that those who talk disparagingly about others to you, are likely to do the same to you when with others. Do you know anyone who fits this description? I certainly do!

I don’t know about you, but I find those who constantly talk in a negative way about other people are normally very negative influences to those around them. If you’ve ever spent time in the company of someone like this, how does it make you feel? Personally I find that no matter what sort of mood I’m in when I join that person’s company, I end up feeling annoyed, frustrated and quite low because of all the negativity.

So what can we do? We must try not to associate ourselves with those who talk disparagingly about others or those who are negative influences on those around them. However I appreciate that isn’t always possible as these folk may be work colleagues or even family members!

That doesn’t mean there’s nothing we can do, because there’s always something we can do, and someone who can help us…God! The best thing we can do for anyone and everyone, regardless of the situation or circumstances, is pray for them, and pray that their influence may not bring us down to their level.

Lost and Found

Sometimes without really noticing, we can find our life suddenly has no direction; that we’ve lost our desire to serve God.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help when your feel lost, as God will help you life get back on track. Likewise when you see someone else who seems to have lost direction in their life, reach out and find them, and help them find God again.

Even when our desire for God has diminished, God’s love for us remains constant. God is waiting for us to ask Him for direction, to “find” us again.

How many times have you either said that or someone has said that to you?

Have you noticed how it’s always the nice things that “go without saying“?

When we’re angry or annoyed we can often say things which we’d have been better off not saying. But when it comes to telling our loved ones how much they mean to us, or telling workmates or friends how much we appreciate their help, that often “goes without saying“.

Don’t let the nice things of life go unsaid, as it’s not always obvious to other how much you appreciate all they do for you or how much they mean to you!

A mission statement is a formal, short, written statement of the purpose of a company or organization. The mission statement should guide the actions of the organization, spell out its overall goal, provide a sense of direction, and guide decision-making.

Have your work or church or any other organisations you are part of, have a mission statement?

If so, can you recite that mission statement without having to look it up first?

My guess is most of us would not be able to freely recite mission statements of organisations we are part of or attend.

I think a lot of the mission statements that exist, have been written more with the people who know nothing about the organisation in mind , than actually considering the views/beliefs of those who are members or employees. So what difference does that make? I think there are good and bad point to this:

Good

  • People out with the organisation learn a little about its purpose/aim
  • The organisation appears to be reaching out to those not already part of their organisation

Bad

  • It doesn’t necessarily represent the aims/believes of the everyday members of the organisation
  • The statement id too general and wide-reaching to focus the aims/mission of its members

What’s your view of mission statements?

Personally my view is that mission statements are often just compiled just because they’re considered the “in-thing” to do, rather than because the members of the organisation will treat that mission statement at the true mission or aim or the organisation. After all of the organisations you are part of that have mission statements, how many times would you say you consider the mission statement, or think about whether you are working towards achieving the aims of that mission statement?
