Could hardly get word in edgeways w/ mum 2day as she's been sitting in house a lot getting upset bout things rather than trying 2 go out #fb10 hours ago
I’m sure we’ve all come across people who we would never share anything private with because we know they wouldn’t be able to stop themselves from telling others..Then there are those we know we could tell anything to, but still know it would never go any further.
I’m also sure we’ve all come across people who do not tell the truth…Then there are those who can always be relied on to tell the truth, even in difficult circumstances where they have to choose their words carefully so as not to cause offence or hurt.
Have you ever watched the TV programme called Would I Lie To you? It’s a comedy panel show hosted by Rob Brydon where two teams of contestants led by regulars, David Mitchell and Lee Mack, have to bluff about their deepest secrets. Points are awarded to the teams you correctly guess whether the “secrets” told by contestants are true or a lie. In other words, contestants have to be good at telling lies and good at covering up the truth!
While I do find some of the “secrets” told on the show and the ridiculous stories the contestants tell, quick funny at times, there’s something about that programme which just doesn’t sit right with me.
Is it just me?
I think it’s just because it’s giving the impression that telling lies fun…Not that fun isn’t good, but are we really give out the right message to people?
In a world where lies seem to common place to so many, let’s promote honesty and integrity and not lies!
It can be hard to comprehend sometimes why people die when they do. So that can make it even more difficult to comprehend why God would allow Jesus to die on the cross, when He could have saved Him…
When Jesus was a boyWith the teachers in the temple They were so amazed That a child could speak this way He was so excited About His Father’s business There were so many things He was dying to sayThen after He turned thirty He went back to the temple To say He was the Son of God, The Truth, the Life, the Way They took Him to a hill They called the Skull To render Him silent But they could not prevent What He was dying to sayHe was dying to tell the worldHow much He really cared It wasn’t the old rusty nails That kept Him hanging there The expression on His face Gave the real reason away He had something on His heart He was dying to say.He said, “I love you.” “I love you.” “I love you” is what He said. He said, “I love you.” “I love you” And He cared enough That He wrote it down in red.He was dying to tell the world How much He really cared It wasn’t the old rusty nails That kept Him hanging there The expression on His face Gave the real reason away He had something on His heart He was dying to say.
Did you find the answer in the above song?
Jesus died simply because He loves us, and because God loves us.
Forevermore, You are holy Forevermore, You are worthy
God can take the broken and the weak and make them into superstars. He does this for every individual who gives their life to Him, and in return He promises to love us all forever.
God will be with us forever, He has planned our lives out before us, and in doing so proves again just how much he loves us, and will always love us. So how should we repay Him?By loving Him and giving our heart to Him today.
All my life, all that I hope It rests inside Your plan Your love, Your grace, Your truth alone Forevermore will stand You have called me Your redeemed And hidden me in the shadow of Your wings
True friends really do mean the world when you’re really struggling through some dark times.
Only those that truly care, will see the hurt you will not share. For on your face you show a glow, but in your eyes the truth will show
Are you lucky enough to have someone in your life who the above statement could refer to?
Personally, as someone who find it’s far easier to keep my feelings and emotions to myself, I was shocked and very nervous when I first found a friend who could look into my eyes and know how I was feeling – It was terrifying for me!
What terrified me wasn’t that I was hurting or upset, but rather that by looking into my eyes, someone was able to understand and know exactly how I felt. It felt as though my friend could see right into my soul and see my deepest feelings and emotions.
Being able to know and understand how I felt actually turned out to be a blessing on disguise in many ways for me, as my friend was able to support and encourage me at times when others where totally oblivious to how I really felt. This particular friendship is in fact the one I’ve talked about in previous posts such as Rejected Heart, I Believe In Angels and Still Hoping – so I’m sure you can understand another reason why I still find it very hard when I see my one-time angel, as I still feel as though they can see my deepest feelings and emotions whenever they look at me.
I think what makes it particualrly hard is because I know that even though I believe they can still “see” exactly how I feel, they no longer do or say anything to help or support me, despite understanding me.
Prayer For A Friend byCasting Crowns
Lord, I lift my friend to You, I’ve done all that I know to do I lift my friend to You Complicated circumstances have clouded his view Lord, I lift my friend up to You
I fear that I won’t have the words that he needs to hear I pray for Your wisdom, oh God, and a heart that’s sincere Lord, I lift my friend up to You
’cause there’s a way that seems so right to him But You know where that leads He’s becoming a puppet of the world, too blind to see the strings Lord, I lift my friend up to You My friend up to You
Lord, I lift my friend to You, I’ve done all that I know to do I lift my friend to You
I’ve done every devotional
Been every place emotional
Trying to hear a new word from God
And I think it’s very odd,
that while I attempt to help myself
My Bible sits upon my shelf
With every promise
I could ever need
Chorus:
And the Word was
And the Word is
And the Word will be
The old Word is the new Word is
The old Word is the new Word is…
People are getting fit for Truth
Like they’re buying a new tailored suit
Does it fit across the shoulders
Will it fade when it gets older
We throw ideas that aren’t in style
In the Salvation Army pile
And search for something more to meet our needs
Bridge:
I think it’s time I rediscover
All the ground that I have covered, like
Seek Ye first (what a verse)
We are pressed but not crushed,
perplexed but don’t despair.
We are persecuted but not abandoned
We are no longer slaves
we are daughters and sons,
and when we are weak
we are very strong
And neither death nor life
nor present nor future
nor depth nor height
can keep us from the love of Christ
And the Word I need
is the Word that was
who put on flesh to dwell with us.
In the beginning….
What a blessing this song is. It puts everything so simply - The word was, is, and will be, forever!
It has reminded me again of just how easy it is for each of us to love our Saviour Jesus Christ each and every day. And what’s more, He will love you unconditionally in return, no matter what you have done in your past, currently or even what you may do in the future.
Faith By Family Friend PoemsTo have faith is to defy logic. It takes faith to think positively. It takes faith to believe that there is a loving God who cares deeply about our pain.To believe in life, the universe, or yourself after numerous failures is to have courage.Faith is an act of courage. It is choosing to get up in the morning and face our fears and believe that God will help us.Faith is choosing to believe that even though we may have failed one hundred times before that we can succeed the next time.
What a wonderful poem – so full of truth and reassurance that faith in our Lord, is more than just enough to help us through each day.
What Faith Can Do by Kutless
Everybody falls sometimes
Gotta find the strength to rise
From the ashes and make a new beginning
Anyone can feel the ache
You think its more than you can take
But you are stronger, stronger than you know
Don’t you give up now
The sun will soon be shining
You gotta face the clouds
To find the silver lining
I’ve seen dreams that move the mountains
Hope that doesn’t ever end
Even when the sky is falling
And I’ve seen miracles just happen
Silent prayers get answered
Broken hearts become brand new
That’s what faith can do
It doesn’t matter what you’ve heard
Impossible is not a word
It’s just a reason for someone not to try
Everybody’s scared to death
When they decide to take that step
Out on the water
It’ll be alright
Life is so much more
Than what your eyes are seeing
You will find your way
If you keep believing
I’ve seen dreams that move the mountains
Hope that doesn’t ever end
Even when the sky is falling
And I’ve seen miracles just happen
Silent prayers get answered
Broken hearts become brand new
That’s what faith can do
Overcome the odds
You don’t have a chance
(That’s what faith can do)
When the world says you can’t
It’ll tell you that you can!
I’ve seen dreams that move the mountains
Hope that doesn’t ever end
Even when the sky is falling
And I’ve seen miracles just happen
Silent prayers get answered
Broken hearts become brand new
That’s what faith can do
That’s what faith can do!
Even if you fall sometimes
You will have the strength to rise
A couple of weeks ago I blogged on a number of occasions about the bible and my thoughts on how we should study it. Well today I’d like to give you a few more of my thoughts on this. I hope you find them helpful.
Not Just a Verse but a Whole Book
When you read a book, you don’t just read one paragraph from it and try to work out the rest of the book based on that one paragraph or chapter. Therefore, just as we read any other book from cover to cover to get the whole story and all the information, so we should do the same with the bible.
Yes there will be verses in it that speak or shout out at you, but that shouldn’t stop you from reading the rest of that chapter or indeed the whole bible.
How can we understand all God has to tell us if we are selective about what we read? Read the whole bible to gain context and meaning to each verse as there’s a message there if only we take the time to understand it.
Focus on God
Don’t ever forgot why you are here. You are here because God placed you here. He placed you here on this earth so you could do His work. We may have our own plans for our life, but the only way we can achieve all we can is by doing God’s will, His plan for our life.
John 5:39 (The Message)
You have your heads in your Bibles constantly because you think you’ll find eternal life there. But you miss the forest for the trees. These Scriptures are all about me! And here I am, standing right before you, and you aren’t willing to receive from me the life you say you want.
You can read the whole bible and understand it all, but if you do not know God, there is no point. In other words, we must have a personal relationship with God to truly know and understand His word, so that we can apply it to our lives.
So, when you read the Bible think about God, and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free!
Your Word, O Lord
Is wisdom and truth
And we need to know this
When in our youth
To have it embedded
Deep in our hearts
To never give it up
And never let it part
We need to know
The truth there in
That will lead us to life
And free us from sin
Your Word, O Lord
Is faithful and just
And in your Word
We must put our trust
By M. S. Lowndes
The bible holds so much information for us. We must trust God to help us understand His message to us, in His word.
This above poem talks about how we must know the wisdom and truth of God’s word in our youth, but it’s referring to the youth of our relationship with God, not of our life – otherwise it would be saying if we don’t know the truth of God’s word in our childhood, we never will, which certainly is not true – we can find God at any time in our life.
Do you know the truth of God’s word today? If not, now is the time to ask God to help you discover it in His book, the bible.
Do you believe the message in the bible is relevant to you today?
God does exist.
The bible is full of the truth.
The message in the bible is relevant yesterday, today, tomorrow and every day!
The Word Is Alive by Casting Crowns
Looking out from His throne,
The Father of light and of men
Chose to make Himself known
And show us the way back to Him
Speaking wisdom and truth
Into the hearts of peasants and kings
He began to unveil
The Word that would change the course of all things
With eyes wide open,
all would see
The Word is alive
And it cuts like a sword through the darkness
With a message of life to the hopeless and afraid
Breathing life into all who believe
The Word is alive
And the world and its glories will fade
But His truth, it will not pass away
It remains yesterday and forever the same
The Word is alive
Simple strokes on a page
Eternity’s secrets revealed,
Carried on from age to age
It speaks truth to us even still
And as the rain falls from Heaven, Feeds the earth before it returns
Lord, let Your Word fall on us and bring forth the fruit You deserve
With eyes wide open, let us see
The Word is alive
And it cuts like a sword through the darkness
With a message of life to the hopeless and afraid
Breathing life into all who believe
The Word is alive
And the world and its glories will fade
But His truth, it will not pass away
It remains yesterday and forever the same
The Word is alive
(Spoken) The Bible was inscribed over a period of two thousand years
In times of war and in days of peace
By kings, physicians, tax collectors, farmers, fishermen, singers, and shepherds
The marvel is that a library so perfectly cohesive could have been produced by such a diverse crowd
Over a period of time which staggers the imagination
Jesus is its grand subject, our good is its design, and the glory of God is its end
The Word is alive
And it cuts like a sword through the darkness
With a message of life to the hopeless and afraid
Breathing life into all who believe
The Word is alive
And the world and its glories will fade
But His truth, it will not pass away
It remains yesterday and forever the same
The Word is alive (the world and its glories will fade)
The Word is alive (His truth it will not pass away)
His Word is alive (His Word is alive, His Word is alive)
(Spoken) Jesus is its grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God is its end
