Once again today I’m looking at how, as Christians, we should live our lives, again using words from the bible for guidance.

Today’s text is from 1 Thessalonians 5:19-22 (The Message):

Don’t suppress the Spirit, and don’t stifle those who have a word from the Master. On the other hand, don’t be gullible. Check out everything, and keep only what’s good. Throw out anything tainted with evil.

So on one hand we’ve to make sure we don’t ignore those being used by God to spread His message, but on the other hand we’ve got to make sure we don’t get taken in or fooled by those who do not believe in God…confused? Well don’t be, as hopefully I can clarify some of this for you…

Put simply, I believe we’re being instructed not to be afraid to let others see God in our words and action and to always be open to hear God, either directly ourselves, or through the words and/or actions of others around us. While, in contrast, we must clear from our lives, anything that does not reflect God.

In summary The Way He Wants You To Live #4 – Let God shine in you, always be willing to hear God speaking to you and keep yourself true to God at all times.

The following video of Vicky Beeching singing the beautiful and moving song Listening completely fits with my thoughts today about how we need to listen to God speaking to us…

How long will God love me? Forever!

How long will God love you? Forever!

How long does God want us to love Him? Forever!

How long do we need God in our life? Forever!

God isn’t just there for us when life is tough, He’s there with us, and beside us in all situations, good and bad. God can and will be our everything, and He can and will be our everything forever.

Have you accepted God in your life? Have you acknowledged that you need God in every part of your life, forever?

If not, today can be the start of the rest of your life, your life with God! Go for it, accept God as your saviour today and He will be your everything, forever.

The following song, Forever More by Vicky Beeching fits in with my thoughts for today:

Forever More by Vicky Beeching

You know me completely, like no other could
You love me so freely, when no other would
Your love’s a mystery
For all eternity I’ll be with You

Chorus:
You have won my heart forever more
You are mine and I’m forever Yours
You are my desire, my treasure in this life
And You have won my heart forever more

One day I will see You, standing face to face
One day I’ll run into my Savior’s strong embrace
It’s such a mystery
For all eternity, I’ll be with You

(chorus)

Jesus, how I love You
Jesus, how I love You
My heart is Yours, forever more

(chorus)

It can be scary sometimes, wondering what tomorrow may bring, however think about it, if you knew what tomorrow was going to bring, you may find yourself looking forward to tomorrow even less.

I wanted a perfect ending. Now I’ve learned, the hard way, that some poems don’t rhyme, and some stories don’t have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what’s going to happen next. ~ Gilda Radner

In other words, the future isn’t in your hands, it’s in God‘s, so don’t worry about what may or may not happen tomorrow or the next day. Put your faith fully in God, because whatever you need for tomorrow He will provide for you.

Live for today and trust God for tomorrow.

Live as though Christ died yesterday, rose from the grave today, and is coming back tomorrow.

Great advice but what does that really mean?

Well firstly, when someone you love and who loves you dies, how do you feel? Devastated, upset a little bit scared?

Secondly, if you found out the person you burried several days earlier, had risen from the grave how would you feel? Astounded, unbelieving, a little scared but ultimately still grieving for the one you love?

And lastly, when someone you love is away from you, either on holiday, with work, a forced separation or in fact any other reason, how do you feel when you know they are returning, coming home, tomorrow? I guess you’d be excited, nervous, fully of anticipation, trying to make sure you had everything sorted, in order and as close to perfect as you can manage, all so you can welcome home your loved one.

Well I think all the above would, or maybe I should say, should apply, if we are talking about Christ.

Think about your live, and how you’re living it - Do you live as though Christ died yesterday, rose from the grave today, and is coming back tomorrow?

Yesterday, Today and Forever by Vicky Beeching

 Everlasting God
The years go by but you’re unchanging
In this fragile world
You are the only firm foundation
Always loving, always true
Always merciful and good, so good

Yesterday today and forever
You are the same, you never change
Yesterday today and forever
You are faithful and we will trust in You

Uncreated One
You have no end and no beginning
Earthly power fades
But there is no end to Your kingdom
Always loving, always true
Always merciful and good, so good

Yahweh, God unchanging
Yahweh, firm foundation
Yahweh, God unchanging
Yahweh, firm foundation
