So did you have a think about what Easter means to you? Is it all about the holidays and the Easter eggs or is it all about Jesus dying on the cross at Calvary?

As a Christian, for me it’s all about Calvary and what that means to me today. Forgiveness of every one of my sins, from the first one I ever committed to the last one.

Ephesians 1:7 (NIV)

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.

We all lose friends at sometime in our life because either they or we do which the other doesn’t forgive. But no matter what we do, no matter how bad it is, God forgives us and continues to love us. Who else do we know for certain will do that!

It’s Still the Cross, it still means everything to me, it still means forgiveness, it still means love…

Easter To You…

Well it’s nearly Easter weekend, but what does Easter mean to you?

  • Easter eggs
  • Crème eggs
  • Holidays
  • Easter bunnies

 Or what about these…

  • Jesus
  • Calvary
  • The cross
  • Crucifixion
  • Death
  • Resurrection

For me, Easter is all about the second list of options, however that doesn’t mean I don’t like the holidays or the Easter eggs that go with Easter these days.

I love Easter time, it’s always round about when we say Spring officially starts, although given our weather forecast for this week I’m not sure Spring relates to Easter at all this year! Easter for me is all about The Cross and what that represents both all those years ago when Christ died on the cross, and now, to me individually.

I’d ask you today to consider the following in more detail:

  • What Easter means to you
  • Why?
  • Have your views changed about Easter from what they used to be?
  • If so, why?

Jesus carried our sins when He carried His cross to Calvary

 Words To Live By

It’s not how much you accomplish in life
that really counts,
but how much you give to others.

It’s not how high you build your dreams
that makes a difference,
but how high your faith can climb.

It’s not how many goals you reach,
but how many lives you touch.

It’s not who you know that matters,
but who you are inside.

 Believe in the impossible,
hold tight to the incredible,
and live each day to its fullest potential.
You can make a difference
in your world.

 ~ Rebecca Barlow Jordan ~

Have you made a difference in anyone’s life today? In the last week? In the last month? This year?

Just because you don’t know of anything you’ve done that has made a difference to someone, doesn’t mean you haven’t. It’s often the small, seemingly insignificant things we do for others that ultimately makes a huge difference or a huge impact in someone’s life.

If we just continue to live our lives believing in God, He will help us do what’s right and ultimately make a difference in someone’s life.

Everything Impossible by MercyMe

I was taught to be practical in everything I do
Holding on to what is tangible, and then came You
That’s when I found myself so far away, from everything I knew
I took a leap of faith

Even though You’re difficult for me to explain
I know I’ll never be the same

You’re everything I cannot see
You’re everything I cannot say
I know it all seems so illogical
But that’s okay
You’re the love You give to me
You’re the love I give away
You are everything impossible

 And that’s okay

 That’s okay!

All the things that make no sense to me, draw me to You
Like finding freedom by surrendering, can it be true
With everything I can and cannot know
This mystery is bringing life to me

And all this love I have for You I can’t contain
I know I’ll never be the same

  You’re everything I cannot see
You’re everything I cannot say
I know it all seems so illogical
But that’s okay
You’re the love You give to me
You’re the love I give away
You are everything impossible
And that’s okay

  That’s okay

  What’s so hard to understand
What I cannot comprehend
Is that You love me the way I am

  You’re everything I cannot see
You’re everything I cannot say
I know it all seems so illogical
But that’s okay
You’re the love You give to me
You’re the love I give away
You are everything impossible
And that’s okay

  You’re everything I cannot see
You’re everything I cannot say
I know it all seems so illogical
But that’s okay
You’re the love You give to me
You’re the love I give away
You are everything impossible
And that’s okay

And that’s okay

Yesterday I had a fantastic day spending time with a very good friend – You can read all about it in my blog from yesterday Girly Day Out. However as I suspected would happen, it was the high before the low of today.

Let me explain, for the last while, I’ve become accustomed to having days when I feel so totally exhausted that it’s a huge struggle to find the energy to move, let alone get out of bed. That added to my usually accompanying pain makes it very difficult to do anything on days like these. While I get days like these fairly frequently for no apparent reason, there is one time I can be guaranteed to have a day like this…the day after I’ve being on my feet most of the day, or after having a very long day.

So today is one of those “day after” days which I knew would happen, but which was still worthwhile given my day yesterday. If only I could find the strength and energy to move and also rid myself of my pain it make today so much easier to cope with.

I’m really fed up with days like this – they bring me to my lowest regardless of how I was feeling prior to a day like this. I can only hope tomorrow is better.

I’d appreciate your prayers, as I’m struggling through today not knowing how I’ll get through tomorrow.

I love this song which always reminds me that you guys out there are praying for me…thank you.

Celebr8 sing Somebody Prayed For Me:

It’s always good to catch up with friends, especially when it’s ones you don’t see very often. Today I met up with a close friend who is originally from Glasgow, but who has lived in England for a number of years now, so we only see each other a few times each year.

Whenever we meet up we always make a point of making sure we’ve plenty of time to shop – even if neither of us have anything in particular we’re looking to buy. After all, half the fun is in the looking rather than the buying….and it’s much cheaper! Although I’ll admit it, we both did buy a few things today!

Although we keep in touch with each other, we always still have a lot to catch up on. Not only that but we always end up reminiscing about some of the things we got up to or done in the past which is always a good laugh. I know it’s not always good to look back on things, but there are exceptions and that’s when you’re looking back on some good times, it really does lift your spirits…it certainly did mine today!

After we did our usual wander round the shops, we always go for some dinner. Today, as we have the last few times we’ve met up, we went Frankie and Benny’s for some food and a further blether. We ended up in Frankie and Benny’s for hours…and no we weren’t eating the whole time! It ended up about 9.30pm before we finally left F&B’s to head for home.

Great company. Great friend. Great food. Great shopping. An all round fabulous day…even if I am now totally exhausted!

Life Is Too Short

Have you ever fallen out with a family member or friend?

How long did you fall out with them for?

Have you had up with them yet?

Life is too short to wake up with regrets.
Love the people who treat you right.
Forget about the ones who don’t.
Believe everything happens for a reason.
If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.
If it changes your life, let it.
Nobody said life would be easy.
They just promised it would be worth it.

Nothing that you do or say to anyone, or anything they can say or do to you is worth falling out with someone over. No matter how serious the reason for the disagreement, we must forgive and forget and move on. Life really isn’t worth the anger and hurt that come when friends or family fall out.

Forgive and forget and move on with your life.

Forgiveness by Brian Kennedy

Pride rides before a fall
And oh, how you have fallen
Two words could have saved it all
But your lips could not form them
Did you never say the words ‘I’m sorry’
Or know the sweet and gentle glory of Forgiveness. Forgiveness

We shared a rare and precious love
But now the spell is broken
Deep down you know, you surely must
It’s all because of words unspoken
No you’ve never said the words ‘I’m sorry’
Or know the sweet and gentle glory of Forgiveness. Forgiveness.

I didn’t want to win a war
I just longed to be your friend
If you’d just said what I was waiting for
We could have started all over again

Because regrets, oh they’re nothing new
But still, they’re hard to swallow
So don’t pretend you don’t know the truth
A life like that is sad and hollow
So if you ever say the words ‘I’m sorry’
And know the sweet and gentle glory of Forgiveness
Then I’m sorry too.

Yesterday morning when I left my house to head to work I didn’t get very far before my journey came to an abrupt stop. Right outside the entrance to our estate there had been what looked to be a serious accident – there was a car half on the pavement which was pretty smashed up at the front, the barrier at the edge of the pavement was gone and the traffic lights beside the car were mangled too. It appeared there had only been one car involved in the accident however I couldn’t tell if any pedestrians had been involved or not. There were two police vans and an ambulance there and they all still had their blue lights still on. The police were directing the traffic as they were having to send all the traffic along one side of the road as the other side of the road was blocked by the accident, There were long queues beginning to form in both directions when I got there, but I was lucky enough that when the traffic going in the direction I wanted to go, started moving, someone let me join the traffic almost immediately.

So having got past the accident outside our estate, I headed towards the motorway to go to work. I got as far as the junction where I would join the motorway when I realised there was an ambulance coming towards me so I stopped and let it past before continuing onto the motorway.

I continued my journey to work along the motorway. I got only a few miles along the motorway when I had to move over a lane to let another emergency vehicle past – a police car this time.

Surely that must be my last encounter with emergency vehicles in that journey? You would think so wouldn’t you? But it wasn’t, when I left the motorway and started the final part of my journey to work, I heard more sirens! This time coming towards me from the opposite direction were two fire engines.

Finally, as I was waiting to turn into the street where I park, I heard yet more sirens. A few seconds later there it was, another police car speeding past me!

What a morning! I couldn’t believe how many encounters I had with the emergency services in one journey!

If that’s how busy the emergency services were at that time in the morning (I got to work just after 8am!), I hate to think how busy they were the rest of the day! My thoughts and prayers go out to all those who required the services of one or more of the emergency services yesterday, I hope everyone was ok.

Let’s not take our emergency services for granted – they do a great job, often in horrendous circumstances and under extreme stress – they risk their lives to try to save others. What a fantastic job they do!

Living In The Light (Part 4)

Go out into the darkness of this world and seek out those who are in desperate need of hope in their life – those who are in desperate need of God.

Take the light to them, don’t expect them to come to the light. When you live in the darkness for so long, stepping out of the shadows into the light can a very difficult and daunting thing to do.

2 Corinthians 4:6 (NIV)

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

It is only because God fills our heart with His light that we have the ability to spread the light of His love throughout this world. Don’t keep the knowledge of God’s love to yourself, share it with everyone.

Because God’s light has filled our hearts, we must always act in a manner God would expect us to. i.e. We must not be Sunday Christians or fair weather Christians, we must be everyday Christians. Only by acting as God requires us to, can we hope to influence others into sharing in the light of God’s love.

1 John 2:8-10 (NIV)

Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining. Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness. Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble. But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness; he does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded him.

The world needs to see the light of God’s love. So let’s help make this world a brighter place to live by living in the light of God’s love every day.

Carry The Light

Anyone who comes to You
Anyone at all
With arms wide open
Anyone who reaches out
Any time at all
With a heart that’s broken
You will be the shelter
You will have the answer
For anyone who ever
Cries out
In need
I believe there You will be
I stand on Your promise
Your love is forever
And I believe with all my heart
You are my water
Holy savior
You are the comfort when my world falls apart
Into the ends of the earth
And for the rest of my life
I’ll carry the light
Anytime I turn to You
Anytime at all
I find You waiting
Waiting for the chance to help me
Hold me, heal me
Show me just how amazing
Life can be when you know what it is to be free
To be free
Over the mountains, into the valleys
Crossing the ocean, I’ll carry the light
And through the darkness
To all the hopeless for the all the broken I’ll carry the light

The last few days I’ve talked about the difference it can make living in the God’s light, but today I want to talk about the great responsibility that comes with living in the light of God’s love.

Having accepted God in my life, I am continually aware of the great responsibility that bestows on me. God expects all His followers to spread the light of His love throughout this world and that is a huge responsibility . This world is full of so many dark place and people who constantly live in darkness feeling they have nothing worthwhile in their life. It’s therefore up to us to try to bring some light into their world and into their hearts, light which reflect the love and support that God offers each of us.

It’s not easy to shine when all around us is darkness, as it can be very easy to be overwhelmed by the darkness. That is why we must ensure our life is truly full of God’s light and love, this way our light will shine brightly wherever we go and whoever we meet.

Shine as a light in this world. Shine as God’s light in this world.
