Do you have any brothers or sisters?

If you have, do you get on with them? Did you get on well with them when you were kids?

I don’t have any brothers or sisters, I’m an only child, so I obviously don’t know what it’s like to have brothers or sisters to fight with, play with and love. I know when I was much younger I often wished I had a brother or sister but that was probably more because all my friends had brothers or sisters so I was “different” from everyone else. Now as I’ve got older and thought about brothers or sisters, I’ve wished I had a brother or sister so I had someone to confide in, someone to talk to that wasn’t part of my everyday life.

I also feel at times that I’m missing on out on something else, and that’s the possibility to be an aunt to anyone – I have no brothers or sisters so there’s no chance of that from my side of the family and from my husband’s side that is not possible either as his sister died a number of years ago.

Anyone else out there an only child having the same thoughts? I’d love to hear your thoughts about brothers and sisters.

For those of you with brothers or sisters, you are so lucky in many ways, you may argue and fight with them, you may be very different people living very different lives, but you’re still family and as such I’m sure you all still love one another, even if just a tiny wee bit!

1 Timothy 5:5 (NIV)

If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

The love between you and your brothers and sisters must be everlasting, because they are your family!
