Prayer Journal

In yesterday’s blog Prayer Diary I spoke about why and how I use a prayer diary.

Today I want to ask you, have you ever heard of a prayer journal?

I must admit that until a few days ago, I had never heard of a prayer journal, or indeed knew what one was.

1 Chronicles 16:12 (NKJV)
Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth

A prayer journal is a record of God’s answers to your prayers. Isn’t that a fantastic idea! I guess I’m like many of you, where I pray hoping God will answer prayer, but do I ever stop to take note of when and how He answers my prayers?

While thinking about the concept of a prayer journal I got thinking about whether I would actually benefit from a prayer journal, and I have to say that I think I would. It will help remind me of all the countless prayers God answers, maybe not in the way I wanted or expected, but all the same He does answer prayer.

Romans 15:4 NKJV
For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.

I also think that in times of discouragement reading a prayer journal may help remind me of how precious I am to God, and how He has worked out His good will within my life to meet my needs. In other words, it’ll remind me I’m not alone, God is with me, and so hopefully help me through those tougher times.

Maybe a prayer journal is not for you, but I hope once again I’ve given you something to think about and consider for use in your prayer life.

Deuteronomy 8:2 NKJV
And you shall remember that the LORD your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.

Remember all the times God has answered your prayers.
