Today I’m carrying on from my blog post yesterday (Simply Say Nothing) by again considering what we say. Today I have another quote for you:

Sometimes questions are more important than answers ~ Nancy Willard

When I first read this, I didn’t quite get it. After all, how can it more important to question things than answer other’s questions? But isn’t it the case that sometimes when someone asks a question, it prompts other questions to come to our mind, sometimes because we ourselves don’t know the answer to the original question but it prompts us to think about things a different way, or sometimes it may be because we are trying to encourage the person asking the question to come to the answer themselves.

Whatever the reason, just remember that just because someone asks you a question, giving them a direct answer isn’t always as important as asking the questioner another question.
