people to save

It is good to reminisce about things hat have happened in the past, and remember times when God has done amazing things in our life and in our church. However as Oswald Chambers reminds us in the above picture, we must never forget we still have much work to do.

There are many people in our world today who have never heard of Jesus, who have heard of him but think he has nothing to offer them. Our work will never be done until everyone knows about Jesus and they have all given their lives to Him.

Here’s the International Staff Songsters of the Salvation Army singing Tell It!

Friends

It’s true isn’t it – There are many we can fool by putting on our “public” face and saying we are ok, but there are also that select few who always know when something is wrong no matter how good our acting skills are!

I thank God today for my friends.

The words of the tongue should have three gatekeepers: Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? ~ Nicky Gumbel

I don’t know about you, but I can think of various occasions when I wish I had those three gatekeepers, and stopped myself from saying something which I shouldn’t have.

Sadly for many when they say untrue, unkind or unnecessary words, they can be fatal to their relationships. So be the gatekeeper of your own tongue, and think before you speak, making sure what you are about to say is not untrue, unkind or unnecessary, and if it is, don’t say it!

Don't speak

If you look in a dictionary, the word grace has many meanings. Here’s a few of them that are relevant here:

  • mercy; clemency
  • the free and unmerited favour of God shown towards man
  • the divine assistance and power given to man in spiritual rebirth and sanctification
  • the condition of being favoured or sanctified by God
  • an unmerited gift, favour, etc, granted by God

Yes, God has given me a second chance. In fact he’s given each one of a second chance. God loved each of us so much that Jesus died for us at Calvary, just so we could be saved.

God loves each of us, and is has promised to always love us, regardless of what we do. However his desire is that we give our heart and our all to God, and let Him use us to tell others about His unfailing love.

Grace has called my name. God has called my name, and I knelt before Him and gave Him my all. Have you?

Praise the Lord from the Heavens
Praise Him in the skies
Praise the Lord from the Heavens
All you stars of light
Praise Him all His Angels
Praise Him all His hosts
Let all Creation praise the Lord

Praise the Lord from the mountain tops
Praise Him in the streets
Praise the Lord from the valleys
And tell everyone You see
Tell them of his greatness
And tell them of His love
Let all Creation praise the Lord

You may not be aware of it, or you may not think of it on a daily basis, but God has done amazing things for you. He therefore is more than worthy of our praise. So let’s make sure we say thanks to God on a regular basis for all He has done and continues to do for us each day.

Praise the Lord!

How can anyone still question whether God loves them, once they know what happened that first Easter?

I’m not naïve enough to think that by writing this blog post, everyone will suddenly understand what Easter is all about and suddenly believe in God. However I hope that through my blog posts over this Easter period, I have at least got some of you reconsidering God’s existence, and His love for us.

As if the way the solders mocked his name
Was something I deserved
As if the crown of thorns upon his head
Was what my life was worth
As if he needed one more way to show
His mercy and his love
He said I am forgiven
As if the cross was not enough.

The cross was ore than enough to convince me of God’s love for me. I hope the cross is more than enough to help you decide to follow God too.

As If the Cross Was Not Enough

If you could see me as I am
My flaws and imperfections
All the lessons I have learned
Through lifes unanswered questions
And in spite of all of this
Jesus knows the way I feel
And he gave his life to say
He loves me still.

As if the way the solders mocked his name
Was something I deserved
As if the crown of thorns upon his head
Was what my life was worth
As if he needed one more way to show
His mercy and his love
He said I am forgiven
As if the cross was not enough.

There’s no way I could have earned
The grace that he has shown me
Then with every step I take
His miracles surround me
When just measure of his love
Would have covered every need
Even when he chose to go
To Calvary.

As if the way the solders mocked his name
Was something I deserved
As if the crown of thorns upon his head
Was what my life was worth
As if he needed one more way to show
His mercy and his love
He said I am forgiven
As if the cross was not enough.

I don’t have to see the empty grave
To know that I am free
For the blood that stained Golgotha’s hill
Has covered me.

The cross has said it all
The cross has said it all
I can’t deny what You have shown
The cross speaks of a God of love
There displayed for all to see
Jesus Christ our only hope
The message of the Father’s heart
Come my children, come on home

As high as the heavens are above the earth
So high is the measure of Your great love
As far as the east is from the west
So far You’ve taken our sins from us

The cross has said it all
The cross has said it all
I never recognized Your touch
Until I met You at the cross
We are fallen, dust to dust
How could You do this for us?
Son of God, shed precious blood
Who can comprehend this love?

How high, how wide, how deep
How high…

Can you comprehend the love Jesus showed when he shed His blood at Calvary all those years ago?

It’s amazing, it’s astounding, but it’s true, God’s son Jesus suffered a horrendous death when he was crucified at Calvary, all so the world would understand and see how strong God’s love was for us. Jesus, God’s only son, died, for you and for me, just so we could be free!

Can you comprehend how much God loves you?

Easter…sins

Easter…forgiveness

Easter…shame

Easter…sacrifice

Easter…eternity

Easter…such love

Easter gave us the proof, if ever we needed it, that God truly des love us and would do anything for us.

God-Loves-You-This-Much

The weekend when we specifically celebrate that first Easter is over, but is it really over?

For Christians the world over, Easter is the reason we worship God. Without Easter…

All my sin, all of my hidden shame
Died with Him on the cross, eternity won for us

Jesus really did die to save you and me, and therefore I have vowed to serve Him all my days. It is the best I can do to try to repay God for his amazing love for us.

See His love nailed onto a cross
Perfect and blameless life given as sacrifice
See Him there all in the name of love
Broken yet glorious, all for the sake of us

This is Jesus in His glory
King of Heaven dying for me
It is finished, He has done it
Death is beaten, Heaven beckons me

Greater love no one could ever show
Mercy so undeserved, freedom I should not know
All my sin, all of my hidden shame
Died with Him on the cross, eternity won for us

Such love, such love
Such love is this for me

1 Corinthians 1:18 (NIV):  For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Easter for me is the most important time in the Christian calendar because it’s when God proved to everyone just how much he loves each one of us. Because of God’s love for us, we are able to lead our lives as we do. That is why on this day I want to simply say thank you to God for  Jesus dying just so to save me!

Thank you God for all you do for me each and every day, so much of which I know I take for granted. However today, I thank you specifically for sacrificing your son, Jesus, for me because that is the greatest sacrifice anyone will ever make for me. I pray that all I do will be done for your honour and glory, and my words and actions will always be guided by you.

Amen
