This week is Holy Week, the week leading up to Good Friday and Easter Sunday…but do these days actually mean anything to you, or are they just names you associate with days off school or work, or a time to each lots of chocolate?

Sadly for many, Easter is just about holidays and Easter eggs, but for some of us, those who believe in Christ, Easter is pivotal to our religion, as without Easter we would not have been forgiven of all our sins, and we would not have the guarantee of eternal life.

God-Loves-You-This-Much

Easter is not just a story, Easter is a reality, a reality which changed the world for each one of us, all because of God’s amazing love for us.

Are you looking for simple ways to encourage your heart and nourish your soul?

In the last while I’ve given you some ideas which will hopefully inspire you to implement them in your own life, and over the coming weeks I’ll share some others with you.

So here’s today’s suggestion:

Take care of yourself

Treat yourself as you would want to be treated. i.e. Treat yourself as you would treat your best friend.

Sometimes we can find that we spend all our time doing things for others, and looking after others, that we fail to look after ourselves, simply because we don’t take the time to think about how we are feeling physically or emotionally. So today, no matter how busy you are, take a few minutes to study yourself – your physical wellbeing and your emotional wellbeing – are you ok? Do you look well? have you lost weight? Do you look drained or tired?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you need to take time to take care of yourself!

Whole

If you’re hurting, God cares, and He wants to comfort you. He wants to heal you, and He wants to make you whole. ~ Joyce Meyer

Do you believe this statement?

Maybe you think that you can get by on your own, that you can “be strong” and just keep going. But is “just keeping going” all you expect or want to be able to do? I suspect not, so let God comfort you and help you through. He can and will make you whole again.

I’ve done a few Word Associations with you over the last while, and today it’s time for another one. So as usual I’m going to throw some words at you  and I want you to note down the first word that comes into your mind when you read each word.

So here goes…

  1. wordsTaxi
  2. Plastic bag
  3. Pepsi
  4. Phone
  5. Foundation
  6. Accident
  7. Pedometer
  8. Menu
  9. Satellite
  10. Headphones

So how did you get on with those words? Did you find it easy? Did your answers surprise you or were they just as you expected?

Well here’s my responses to my questions:

  1. Night out
  2. 5p charge
  3. Sugar
  4. Ringtone
  5. Building
  6. Death
  7. Exercise
  8. Choices
  9. Channels
  10. Loud

Were any of your answers the same as mine? Did any of my answers confuse you? Did any of your own answers confuse you?

I’ve said in previous word association posts that I find I get a bit stressed when I’m doing them as I put a lot of pressure on myself not to over think my answers! Are you relaxed when you do them or do you find it stressful too?

I still believe that when we respond with the first words that come into our minds, our answers tell us a lot about our emotional state, and what’s important to us at that particular point in time.

Bearing all this in mind, review your answers, does my theory hold true?

By the way, if you want me to explain any of my answers, just ask!

Yesterday in No Right I spoke about how no-one has the right to judge you, well today it’s almost the complete opposite I want to say to you!

How does that work, I hear you ask – Well, I’m not changing my mind, as I still say no-one has the right to judge you, however I want to remind you that God has rights over you, a divine right.

Who has the right to rule my life?

Who has the right to reign?

Who has the right to take my heart and make it new again?

Christ has the right, the right of love

Love which demands the whole

Dear Lord I give without reserve, my heart, my life, my soul.

Do you give Him your heart, your life, your soul, your all?

No right

I don’t know about you, but I’ve found myself being judged by other for things they may have heard from others, without attempting to speak to me about the situations from my perspective or how I felt.

dont judge

It can be easy to read the words in the above picture and acknowledge the truth in them, but they unfortunately don’t make it any easier when other judge you.

I have no answers on how to make it easier to cope with, but I can simply urge you, don’t let other’s judgements of you affect who you are, as the two most important people know the truth, you and God!

Sometimes it’s only when you consider how things might be under different circumstances, you come to realise how little we truly give back to God.

what we thanked god for yesterday

If the above happened to me today, I have to be honest and say I would have very little. In the last while I’ve been finding life quite tough, and although I’ve still being spending time in prayer each day my prayers have been more about asking God to guide and strengthen me and my family than about saying thank you to God.

I am grateful to God for all He does for me on a daily basis, particular during the times when I’m struggling most, and really should say thank you to Him each day for getting me through the day, plus all the other things He does for me. How about you, do you say thank you to God each day for everything He does for you?

Thank you seems to be something that is said less and less these days, as everyone seems to take so much for granted (including other people), but please join me in making a commitment to ensure we thank God each day for all He’s done for us during the day.

In His Arms

When we struggle to cope with life events, and we wonder if God is really still there for us, remember these words from Just Be Held by Casting Crowns:

If your eyes are on the storm
You’ll wonder if I love you still
But if your eyes are on the cross
You’ll know I always have and I always will

God loved you yesterday, He loves you today, and He will love you tomorrow and the day after that and the day after that…, so don’t ever think He is not there for you. Let Him give you the strength you need by letting Him hold you tight in His arms.

Just Be Held by Casting Crowns

Hold it all together
Everybody needs you strong
But life hits you out of nowhere
And barely leaves you holding on

And when you’re tired of fighting
Chained by your control
There’s freedom in surrender
Lay it down and let it go

So when you’re on your knees and answers seem so far away
You’re not alone, stop holding on and just be held
Your world’s not falling apart, it’s falling into place
I’m on the throne, stop holding on and just be held
Just be held, just be held

If your eyes are on the storm
You’ll wonder if I love you still
But if your eyes are on the cross
You’ll know I always have and I always will

And not a tear is wasted
In time, you’ll understand
I’m painting beauty with the ashes
Your life is in My hands

So when you’re on your knees and answers seem so far away
You’re not alone, stop holding on and just be held
Your world’s not falling apart, it’s falling into place
I’m on the throne, stop holding on and just be held
Just be held, just be held

Lift your hands, lift your eyes
In the storm is where you’ll find Me
And where you are, I’ll hold your heart
I’ll hold your heart
Come to Me, find your rest
In the arms of the God who won’t let go

So when you’re on your knees and answers seem so far away
You’re not alone, stop holding on and just be held
Your world’s not falling apart, it’s falling into place
I’m on the throne, stop holding on and just be held
(Stop holding on and just be held)
Just be held, just be held
Just be held, just be held

Are you looking for simple ways to encourage your heart and nourish your soul?

In the last while I’ve given you some ideas which will hopefully inspire you to implement them in your own life, and over the coming weeks I’ll share some others with you.

So here’s today’s suggestion:

Surround yourself with beautiful things that gladden your heart

“Beautiful things” can be anything at all. For example they my be a bit a paper with a personal note on it that someone gave or sent you which helped or inspired you; They may be a special piece of music which reminds you of someone special to you; A photograph taken n a holiday.

We each have our own “beautiful things” which to others may seem worthless or insignificant, but remember that if they mean something to us, they are worth everything. So look after your “beautiful things” because they can be the thing you need one day to brighten your day.

Private or direct messages

Conversations via social media

Conversations in person or on the phone

We can often be overwhelmed with messages on a daily basis, because they come to us via so many different channels these days. It can be difficult to weed out the important messages from those that are simply information, or even spam, can’t it.

That’s why we need to be careful that we correctly “classify” all the messages we receive. i.e. Make sure we don’t get caught up in gossip or unimportant information that we overlook or ignore the important messages.

The most important messages we will ever receive are of course those from God, so make sure you listen for His messages to you as they can change your life!
