Some question whether God exists, whether Jesus really was His son, and even whether he died to save us.

Some question how we can love someone we’ve never met, how we can put our faith and trust in Him just.

Have you ever questioned God’s existence?

I love the following song by Nicole Nordeman where she asks the questions non-believers may be asking, but then asks them what if they, the non-believers, are wrong, that God does exist, and He does love us…

I have questioned God’s existence in the past, but every time I’ve done that, God proves to me again and again that He exists, and He loves and cares for me. So yes, there is hope because God does exist, and He loves every one of us.

What If by Nicole Nordeman

What if you’re right
And He was just
Another nice guy

What if you’re right
What if it’s true
They say the cross
Will only make a fool of you
And what if it’s true

What if He takes His place in history
With all the prophets and the kings
Who taught us love and came in peace
But then the story ends, what then

But what if you’re wrong
What if there’s more
What if there’s hope
You never dreamed of hoping for

What if you jump
Just close your eyes
What if the arms that catch you
Catch you by surprise
What if He’s more
Than enough what if it’s love

What if you dig
Way down deeper
Than your
Simple-minded friends

What if you dig
And what if you find
A thousand more
Unanswered questions down inside
That’s all you find

What if you pick apart the logic
And begin to poke the holes
What if the crown of thorns is no more
Than folklore that must be told and retold

But what if you’re wrong
What if there’s more
What if there’s hope
You never dreamed of hoping for

What if you jump
Just close your eyes
What if the arms that catch you
Catch you by surprise
What if He’s more
Than enough what if it’s love

‘Cause you’ve been running
As fast as you can
And you’ve been looking
For a place you can land
For so long but what if you’re wrong

What if you jump
Just close your eyes
What if the arms that catch you
Catch you by surprise
What if He’s more
Than enough what if it’s love
What if it’s love

In my previous Relationships posts #1 – 9,  I indicated that during my wanderings through the internet, I’d come across a lot of statements and quotes about relationships. So it time to share some more of my favourites:

  1. Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never, ever the same. i-love-you
  2. Sometimes two people need to step apart and make a space between that each might see the other anew, in a glance across a room or silhouetted against the moon. ~ Robert Brault
  3. When you stop expecting people to be perfect, you can like them for who they are. ~ Donald Miller
  4. To be fully seen by somebody, then, and be loved anyhow – this is a human offering that can border on miraculous ~ Elizabeth Gilbert
  5. Our wounds are often the openings into the best and most beautiful part of us. ~ David Richo
  6. The most painful thing is losing yourself in the process of loving someone too much, and forgetting that you are special too ~ Ernest Hemingway
  7. Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. ~Marcel Proust
  8. It is usually the case that people who know you better than you know yourself think you’re a pretty good person. ~Robert Brault
  9. Today, befriend a stranger, or if you feel up to more of a challenge, befriend a loved one. ~Robert Brault
  10. Jealousy is the art of counting someone else blessings instead of your own.  Don’t waste your time on jealousy.  The only person you’re competing against is yourself

My personal favourite is #8, just because it’s true, even although none of us will admit it!

I hope you never take your closest relationships for granted as suddenly finding these people no longer in your life one day will cause you heartache and pain, so look after your relationships by telling those you love just how much they mean to you.

In James 2:14 (NIV) we read:

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?

Have you ever come across people who say they are one thing but their actions don’t reflect that? For example, someone who says they are a Christian, maybe even goes to church regularly, but their words and actions are not those you’d associate with a true Christian.

I have certainly come across people like this, have you?

I also know that, despite my best efforts, I fail miserably at being s Christian. Thankfully though, God forgives me, and still loves me, and is still willing to help me be who He wants me to be. So have faith, because even when we fail God, He can still save us.

Have I not told you? Be strong and have strength of heart! Do not be afraid or lose faith. For the Lord your God is with you anywhere you go. ~ Joshua 1:9 (New Life Version)

We are told many times in the bible to “be strong” because God will always be with us, but that doesn’t make it any easier to put into action does it!

Life can be cruel; Life can be difficult; Life can be a struggle; but life is ultimately why we are here, so we have to make the best of it, no matter what life throws our way.

So be strong, by praying to God asking Him to give you the strength to face whatever life throws your way.

I’ve been disappointed recently by someone, who has disappointed me several times before…will I never learn!

I was once very close with this person, supporting one another and sharing experiences. Our relationship is different these days, but I personally still feel a closeness with this person that makes me still reach out to them, even although deep down I think I know our relationship will never be the same again, and so know I’ll probably be disappointed.

Disappointments hurt, so why do I keep doing this to myself? The only answer I really have to that question is, because I’m human!

We may all try out best to love and support one another, but ultimately there is only one person who will never let us down, hurt us or disappoint us, and that’s God! So as I remind myself again that God is the only one I can truly rely on, I urge you to remind yourself of this too, as experiencing the same disappointments over and over again is draining and that’s not what any of us really want is it?

I recently saw this, and have found it a great reminder to me when all I want to do is ask “Why?”

trust his heart

Even when it doesn’t feel like God is with you anymore, He is, just trust Him!

God is it true (Trust me) by Steven Curtis Chapman

God, is it true that you’re thinkin’ of me at this moment?
God, is it true that you hear every prayer that I pray?
God, is it true every time my heart beats, you know it?
Well, if it’s all true, then that must be you I hear saying, “Trust Me.”

God, is it true out of all things you’re doing on this planet,
Could it really be true that you’ve counted the hairs on my head?
God, is it true, every day of my life, you have planned it?
Well, if it’s all true, then that must be you I hear saying, “Trust Me.”

Trust Me, Trust Me
I’ll never leave you
I’ll never forsake you
Just trust me

God, is it true that your love for us is never ending?
Could it really be true that you’d die before letting us go?
God, is it true that not even death can separate us?
Well, if it’s all true, then what can I do but put all my hope and all my trust in you?
Well, I know it’s true and I know it’s You I hear saying, “Trust Me.”
I hear you saying, “Trust Me.”

Are you looking for simple ways to encourage your heart and nourish your soul?

In the last while I’ve given you some ideas which will hopefully inspire you to implement them in your own life, and over the coming weeks I’ll share some others with you.

So here’s today’s suggestion:

Nourish your soul with music

Music has always been a huge part of my life, so it’s no surprise that no matter what kind of day I’m having, or what sort of mood I’m in, I can always find some music which lifts my mood or touches my emotions. There are specific songs which I turn to when I’m at my lowest, and while they don’t necessarily brighten my day, they certainly reassure me.

If you are interested in some of this music, I did a series of blog posts a few years ago called Musical Emotions so have a look for these – These blog posts may be a few years old now, and I may have a few new songs/pieces of music that I could add to my list of favourites, but they are all still favourites.

So why not make a playlist of songs/music that you know will brighten any of your days, then listen to it whenever you’re in need of a lift.

Here’s another chance to here one of my favourites, Somebody Prayed For Me performed by Celebr8:

Have you ever felt so alone but hated yourself for feeling like that?

i hate feeling alone

I guess for those of us who are Christians, when we feel alone it can feel like we’re not putting our full trust in and faith in God, because we know God has promised to always be with us. However sometimes it can be that we simply feel like we need some company, or someone to talk to about what’s happening in our life.

I want to reassure you that it’s ok to want human company, and a friend to talk to. What we must ensure though is that the need for these human friendships doesn’t overtake our need for God because ultimately, God is the only one who can and will provide everything we need, including friendships and companionships.

So don’t hate yourself for feeling lonely, just trust God.

In my previous Relationships posts #1 – 9,  I indicated that during my wanderings through the internet, I’d come across a lot of statements and quotes about relationships. So it time to share some more of my favourites:

  1. In human relationships, distance is not measured in miles but in affection. Two people can be right next to each other, yet miles apart. So stay in touch with those who truly matter to you. Not because it’s convenient, but because they’re worth the extra effort.
    i-love-you
  2. No road is long with good company ~ Turkish proverb
  3. Sometimes, we need a few people in our lives who will calmly call our bluff. ~ Dr. SunWolf
  4. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Don’t expect others to read your mind, and don’t play games with their heads and hearts. Don’t tell half-truths and expect people to trust you when the full truth comes out. Half-truths are no better than lies. And don’t ignore someone you care about, because lack of concern hurts more than angry words
  5. Soul-mates are people who bring out the best in you. They are not perfect but are always perfect for you. ~Author unknown
  6. People change and forget to tell each other. ~Lillian Hellman
  7. We are, many of us, a planet orbiting somebody’s sun, unconscious of a lonely moon, orbiting our planet. ~Robert Brault
  8. How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard. ~From the movie Annie
  9. Indifference and neglect often do much more damage than outright dislike. ~ J.K. Rowling
  10. One of my main regrets in life is giving considerable thought to inconsiderate people ~ Jarod Kintz

My personal favourite is #10 – why? probably because I think every single one of us can probably think of times when we’ve tried to help/assist someone who gives no consideration to other peoples’ feelings or possessions.

I hope you never take your closest relationships for granted as suddenly finding these people no longer in your life one day will cause you heartache and pain, so look after your relationships by telling those you love just how much they mean to you.

How many of us have ever felt like we have no one to turn to or nowhere to go? I suspect all of us at some point or another.

When we feel like this it’s not nice is it? Loneliness is a horrible feeling, and one which can really pull us down into a pit of despair if we don’t take control again.

But how do we get ourselves out of that pit of despair? Here’s the answer…

alone
