Who do you put first in your life, yourself, your family, friends or God?

Well here’s a prayer I hope we pray at the start of each day, as if we put God first, we can achieve great things.

I-choose-to-put-you-first

Are you looking for simple ways to encourage your heart and nourish your soul?

In the last while I’ve given you some ideas which will hopefully inspire you to implement them in your own life, and over the coming weeks I’ll share some others with you.

So here’s today’s suggestion:

Exercise

Getting our bodies moving, even just a little bit, raises our metabolisms, increases dopamine and endorphins, and increases our heartbeats, which in turn sends blood to our brains making us feel good.

So when you feel you need to lift your spirits, do some exercise – It doesn’t need to be really intense exercise to lift your mood, even just a short walk will make a difference!

These days it seems that many consider relationships to be disposable – What do I mean by that? – Well, it seems to me that many don’t seem to consider their relationships important, as relationships seem to start and end frequently these days without the people concerned putting much effort into trying to make their relationship work.

putting God first

For those of us who believe in Christ, we can be sure that if we put God first in our lives, we can be sure He will help us build lasting relationships with those we love.

BUT…

How many times have you heard that, “I’m not complaining, but…”? Isn’t it funny how, despite saying, ‘” I’m not complaining”, as soon as they say “but”, you can be a 100% certain they are about to complain about something!

I’ve recently been very aware of just how often some people say this, and I must be honest and ask…do they honestly think by saying, “I’m not complaining”, it means it somehow softens the complaint they are just about to make? Well I’m going to end that misconception now by telling you that, if you start a sentence with “I’m not complaining, but…”, all you’re doing is warning your listener that you are going to do just that, complain!

So be honest with your listener, don’t try to pretend you’re not about to complain about something when you are!

In this last week I’ve spoken about legacies and new beginnings, so to finish off the week, lets look at beginnings, middles and ends…

beginnings endings and the middle

It’s so true isn’t it, because sometimes we scare ourselves so much about what might happen if we try something that we never actually try it at all. Sadly, as I reminded you earlier in the week, there is one thing we can be sure of, and that is that we all die. However, rather than focusing on the things we’ve failed to start, or focusing on what will ultimately happen, we must enjoy what happens between those two events, as ultimately they are the times that define our legacy.

Have you ever been through a relationship or an experience where you’ve ended up feeling hurt, abandoned and end up finding the whole experience painful?

I have, and at the time I couldn’t understand why the person concerned “abandoned” me. However looking back now, I realise that they “abandoned” me because of me! I was so caught up on my relationships with them that I forgot to include God! It was only when I felt abandoned and alone again that God’s presence in my life once again became clear to me and I realised that the way my relationship with that person ended was entirely my fault because I wanted and expected more from them than they could ever possibly give me.

I know now that God is the only one who can provide for me with all I need, and therefore I have changed, I am not the person I was when during the relationship I just spoke about. I’ve changed, because of that experience and therefore I urge you to learn from your painful experiences too, as they have happened for a reason.

God-has-planted-greatness

Do you feel great?

Do you feel you can achieve great things today?

So are you ready to you use the gifts God has personally given you to achieve great things?

I pray today that you will ask God to help you discover your gifts and direct you in how to use them to achieve great things for Him.

A couple of days ago, in Building a Legacy, I spoke about how we a each would like to create a lasting legacy from our life. So have you thought about the legacy you are building just now?

Is the legacy you’ve built to date, the one you want? If it’s not, it’s not too late to start building the legacy you want.

Are you looking for simple ways to encourage your heart and nourish your soul?

In the last while I’ve given you some ideas which will hopefully inspire you to implement them in your own life, and over the coming weeks I’ll share some others with you.

So here’s today’s suggestion:

Buy some fresh flowers

It may seem a simple and slightly stupid to you to suggest that by buying fresh flowers, it will somehow brighten you say and lift your spirits, but it can. Having bright flowers on table in the room you’re in will brighten that room and fill it with the beautiful fresh smell of freshly cut flowers.

Sometimes we need to remind ourselves of how beautiful nature is, and so having fresh flowers is an excellent way to do this.

Have you ever wished you could live forever?

Well unfortunately none of us will live forever, as there’s one thing that is certain, and that is, that at some point, we will all die. So given w all have a limited time on earth, have you ever thought about whether anything you do in your life will be remembered after you are gone?

I guess we would each like to think that although we will not live forever, maybe something we create will.

How are you getting on creating your legacy?

live forever

Legacy by Nichole Nordeman

I don’t mind if you’ve got something nice to say about me
And I enjoy an accolade like the rest
And you could take my picture and hang it in a gallery
Of all the who’s who’s and so-and-so
That used to be the best at such and such
It wouldn’t matter much

I won’t lie, it feels alright to see your name in lights
We all need an ‘Atta Boy’ or ‘Atta Girl’
In the end I’d like to hang my hat on more besides
The temporary trappings of this world

I want to leave a legacy, how will they remember me?
Did I choose to love? Did I point to you enough
To make a mark on things? I want to leave an offering
A child of mercy and grace who blessed your name
Unapologetically and leave that kind of legacy

I don’t have to look too far or too long awhile
To make a lengthly list of all that I enjoy
It’s an accumulating trinket and a treasure pile
Where moth and rust, thieves and such will soon enough destroy

I want to leave a legacy, how will they remember me?
Did I choose to love? Did I point to you enough
To make a mark on things? I want to leave an offering
A child of mercy and grace who blessed your name
Unapologetically and leave that kind of legacy

Not well traveled, not well read
Not well-to-do or well bred
I just want to hear instead
“Well done good and faithful one”
Yeah, yeah

I want to leave a legacy, how will they remember me?
Did I choose to love? Did I point to you enough
To make a mark on things? I want to leave an offering
A child of mercy and grace who blessed your name
Unapologetically and leave that kind of legacy

I don’t mind if you’ve got something nice to say about me
