Roadworks, roadworks everywhere. Everywhere I turn you’re always there!

Over the last few months, the amount of major roadworks on all the routes round about us has been increasing steadily to a point where now we cannot really go anywhere without encountering major holdups and queues. This wouldn’t be so bad except my whole journey to/from work is now a nightmare as my journeys are now taking far longer than they used to with no sign of things improving, and in fact I suspect it’s only going to get worse over the coming winter months.

All in all it Just gives me one more reason not to be looking forward to winter!

A man can no more diminish God’s glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word ‘darkness’ on the walls of his cell ~ C.S. Lewis, The Problem of Pain

Yes, God is bigger than people’s opinions of Him. But having said that, He does want us to acknowledge Him as Lord and Saviour.

So don’t try to dismiss or diminish God from your life as His will always be there, whether you refuse to believe in Him or not.

God is bigger and more powerful and more loving than anyone else we will ever know, so don’t dismiss Him from your life.

God is worthy of our praise, so let’s make sure we praise His name!

In praising God, we not only show him how much we love him, but we also reinforce to ourselves our love of God.

Nothing greater

Ever thought your life was great and could never get better?

Was Christ at the centre of your life when you felt like this?

I suspect if Christ was not at the centre of your life, then your life wasn’t quite as great as you might have thought it was. When we acknowledge God’s presence and accept Him into our lives, everything we know about life and how we see and understand life’s situations changes completely and we see everyone and everything in a different light.

Let God be the greatest thing in your life today.

Knowing you Jesus by Graham Kendrick

All I once held dear, built my life upon
All this world reveres, and wars to own
All I once thought gain I have counted loss
Spent and worthless now, compared to this

Knowing you, Jesus
Knowing you, there is no greater thing
You’re my all, you’re the best
You’re my joy, my righteousness
And I love you, Lord

Now my heart’s desire is to know you more
To be found in you and known as yours
To possess by faith what I could not earn
All-surpassing gift of righteousness

Oh, to know the power of your risen life
And to know You in Your sufferings
To become like you in your death, my Lord
So with you to live and never die

Have you ever noticed how sometimes we seem to want to hold onto relationships which really are not good for us?

God knows

Be honest with yourself, and listen to God, because He will help you identify those relationships which you need and those you should not.

Are you looking for simple ways to encourage your heart and nourish your soul?

In the last while I’ve given you some ideas which will hopefully inspire you to implement them in your own life, and over the coming weeks I’ll share some others with you.

So here’s today’s suggestion:

Have a clear out!

Today I just have 4 words for you – Get rid of it!

You will feel so much brighter if you get rid of toxic friends, old clothes, miserable jobs etc from your life. In other words, if something or someone doesn’t add value to your life, get rid of it now!

Clearouts are always rewarding, when they are done. They are hard work at the time, and can be distressing getting rid of things which evoke memories of times past. So enjoy clearing out, because when you’re finished you day will most definitely be brighter!

let go

Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue (Proverbs 17:28)

Sometimes it really is better not to say anything isn’t it?

There are times when it can be difficult not to pass comment, or try to show your knowledge (limited as it may be) of something. However just as Proverbs says, it can be in those moments that we can really show the best in ourselves.

So think about what you say and when you say it, because your words can show how much of a fool your are or how wise you are!

scotland-v-poland-football-uefa-euro-2016-qualifier_3361112If there’s one thing Scotland supporters have had to get used to over the years, it’s failing even when it seemed we had succeeded!

In the last couple of weeks we suffered two glorious failures again when both our football team failed to qualify for next year’s European championships finals despite being 2-1 up against Poland with just seconds to go, we conceded a very late goal which meant there was no chance of us to qualify for the finals.

Then a few days later our ruby team faced Australia in the quarter finals of the rugby world cup. At the start of the game the odds were firmly stacked against Scotland to beat Australia, but with less than 2 minutes to go Scotland were 2 points up and looking good to win the game…but then we failed to win our own line out and then disaster, the referee scotland v australia rugby world cup quarter final 2015awarded Australia a controversial penalty which they duly converted just before the final whistle sounded.

Another two disappointments for Scottish football and rugby fans. We’re all gutted we’ve missed out, but next time round we’ll be behind the teams once again, cheering them on, regardless of how well or otherwise they do.

So c’mon Scotland, let’s not be so close and then fail again, let’s be successful and qualify!

Immortal yet You once died for me,
To pay my debt to set me free
Invisible You will not always be
‘Cause You’re coming to reign as our king
And the saints will fall down at Your feet

Yes, we cannot physically see God, but we can see Him in everything around us, and in the actions of others.

Let’s make sure God is not invisible in our lives, and that others can see God through our words and actions.

Many don’t believe in God because they cannot see Him. However I believe God is not invisible, all because of His love!

Love is the visible attribute of an invisible God.
