I’m sure we’ve all heard stories of people who moved into a town or village 30 or 40 years ago, and they are still treated like outsiders by the locals!

Sadly being made to feel like an outsider happens to people in many aspects of life. Here’s some examples

  • You can work in the same job in the same location for many years, but are still ignored and treated as an outsider by people who have worked there less time than you, just because you’re not part of the “in” crowd;
  • You can be a member of a sport or social club for years but still always be the last to hear about events or be invited to participate in activities;
  • The saddest of all is that you can attend a church, have people there you consider to be friends, but find in reality you’re still an outsider as you’re not invited to social events or included in discussions/conversations.

I just want to ask you to make sure that wherever you are and whatever events/situations you are getting involved in, you don’t intentionally exclude anyone in your area or group – they may be feeling like an outsider in every area of their life and simply find it very difficult to interact/make friendship with others, so don’t add to their feelings of being unwanted or excluded.
