Hopefully if you read yesterday’s post, Wherever, you’ll have realised that there is no reason why we should be afraid…
Put your trust in God, because He will look after you every moment of every day.
Do not be afraid.
We all get afraid sometimes, particularly when what lies ahead of us seems frightening and we’re unsure if we’ll cope. However I can tell you from my own experience that even when I’ve felt afraid, it’s not seemed quite as bad because I know God is always with me, and will give be the strength and courage to face whatever comes my way.
Sometimes this is all we need to remember…
But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength ~ 2 Timothy 4:17 (NIV)
There can be times in our lives when strength to face another day can seem a million miles away – it’s during those times in particular that we must always remember that God will give us strength.
I suspect we’ve all had people in our lives we’d consider to be our friends, but if consider these relationship realistically, we realise that they are one-way relationships. e.g. we contact a person to wish them luck and encourage them, but they rarely respond, and they certainly never initiate contact with us…that is unless they want something from us!
Does that sound familiar? Why is it that these always seem to be “friendships” we seem keenest to fight for, even although if we’re honest, it’s clear there is no relationship with the person, let alone a friendship.
So don’t waste your time and energy on false friendships, as there will be those out there who really will value your friendship and embrace a relationship with you.
Are you looking for simple ways to encourage your heart and nourish your soul?
In the last while I’ve given you some ideas which will hopefully inspire you to implement them in your own life, and over the coming weeks I’ll share some others with you.
So here’s today’s suggestion:
Put up pictures
Pin up pictures of family or friends who have passed away, friends who you still love and who love you and encourage you as much today as they always have.
Look at those photos and remember good times, but remember to look after your current friends in just the way your friends have looked after you.
Why do we never learn? – We keep on thinking we know what’s best for us, rather than listening to what God is tellings us.Instead we keep asking god for this or that and wondering why we don’t get what we want.
Don’t bother to give God instructions, just report for duty ~ Corrie Ten Boom
Isn’t it about time we finally accept that God knows best in all situations, so we stop telling Him what we want, and start listening to Him because He just wants us to report for duty!
I’ve done a few Word Associations with you over the last while, and today it’s time for another one. So as usual I’m going to throw some words at you and I want you to note down the first word that comes into your mind when you read each word.
So here goes…
So how did you get on with those words? Did you find it easy? Did your answers surprise you or were they just as you expected?
Well here’s my responses to my questions:
I still believe that when we respond with the first words that come into our minds, our answers tell us a lot about our emotional state, and what’s important to us at that particular point in time.
Bearing all this in mind, review your answers, does my theory hold true?
By the way, if you want me to explain any of my answers, just ask!
When you think you are no longer sure if God is still watching over you, stop, pray the above prayer, and be reassured that God is always with you.
Let God rekindle the fire within you, so you will once again radiate His love from you.
We can all get tired and fed up with thing sometimes, and that can include our Christian life as well – After all we’re only human!
So sometimes, we just need to ask God to help reignite our desire to serve and praise Him. So don’t let your Christian values die when you go through a difficult time, instead ask God to give you extra desire during these times, to stick it out and remind us of His love for us.
Don’t let our love grow cold
‘Cause I’m calling out
Light the fire again
Don’t let our vision die
I’m calling out
Light the fire again
You know my heart, my deeds
I’m calling out
Light the fire again
I need your discipline
I’m calling out
Light the fire again
I am here to buy gold
Refined in the fire, naked and poor
Wretched and blind I come
Clothe me in white
So I won’t be ashamed
Lord, light the fire again
We have to believe, we must believe, that the light of the world will light this dark world of ours.
