Let our faith be more than anthems
Greater than the songs we sing

So if you believe in God, and you believe in all He stands for…believe!

But don’t just believe…share your belief!

We believe by Newsboys

In this time of desperation
When all we know is doubt and fear
There is only one foundation
We believe, we believe
In this broken generation
When all is dark, You help us see
There is only one salvation
We believe, we believe

We believe in God the Father
We believe in Jesus Christ
We believe in the Holy Spirit
And He’s given us new life
We believe in the crucifixion
We believe that He conquered death
We believe in the resurrection
And He’s comin’ back again, we believe

So, let our faith be more than anthems
Greater than the songs we sing
And in our weakness and temptations
We believe, we believe!

We believe in God the Father!
We believe in Jesus Christ!
We believe in the Holy Spirit!
And He’s given us new life!
We believe in the crucifixion!
We believe that He conquered death!
We believe in the resurrection!
And He’s comin’ back again!

Let the lost be found and the dead be raised!
In the here and now, let love invade!
Let the church live loud, our God we’ll say
We believe, we believe!
And the gates of hell will not prevail!
For the power of God, has torn the veil!
Now we know Your love will never fail!
We believe, we believe!

We believe in God the Father
We believe in Jesus Christ
We believe in the Holy Spirit
And He’s given us new life!
We believe in the crucifixion!
We believe that He conquered death!
We believe in the resurrection!
And He’s comin’ back,
He’s comin’ back again!
He’s comin’ back again!
We believe!

“not deserving respect or attention”

We hear people saying they are unworthy of receiving awards; or a particular person is unworthy of our trust; or when feeling depressed, people feel unworthy and weak. ~ These are just a few examples of when the word ‘unworthy’ is used.

Personally when I think of the word ‘unworthy’ it’s normally in relation to God. Not because  think God is unworthy of my trust and my love, but the complete opposite – While He is completely worthy of my trust and love, I in contrast, feel I am completely unworthy of His love and care. God gave so much for me, but what have I given Him in return?

I try each day to be the person God wants me to be, but I know continually disappoint Him. However I know God doesn’t give up on me, so with that assurance I know He will continue to help me.

We all have people in our lives that we call friends.

If we use the following quote from Nicky Gumbel, how many of your friends do you consider to be a real friend:

A true friend knows your weakness but shows you your strength; feels your fears but fortifies your faith; sees your anxieties but stresses your abilities

It can be scary knowing that there is someone who knows exactly how you’re feeling without you having to say a word. However it can also be so reassuring. So tell your friends how much they mean to you, in return be a real friend to them too.

On Saturday in Every Day I told you how we’d been asked to pray each morning at 9am for guidance from God for ourselves and our corps in Bellshill. Today’s blog post is really a follow-up on this, because, as the title suggests, it about finding answers to all our questions.

We all have questions about life, why some things happens, why others don’t happen. But God knows where He needs us, and what He wants us to do, so seek Him, and let Him give you guidance.

Give me a revelation,
Show me what to do
Cause I’ve been trying to find my way,
I haven’t got a clue
Tell me should I stay here,
Or do I need to move
Give me a revelation
I’ve got nothing without You
I’ve got nothing without You

From the moment we first open our eyes in the morning, to the second we close our eyes drift off to sleep each night, are you conscious of God’s presence in your life?

Whether you are conscious of God’s presence or not, He is present in your life each day:

Above and below me
Before and behind me
In every eye that sees me
Christ be all around me
Above and below me
Before and behind me
In every eye that sees me
Christ be all around me
Whoa, whoa
Christ be all around me

So let God be a powerful and meaningful presence in your life, by trusting each and every minute of your day and night, to Him, because Christ is around you always.

In this last week, what have you been doing at 9am each morning?

Well like (hopefully) many others from Bellshill Salvation Army, I have spent a few minutes in prayer at 9am each morning, asking God to give both myself and my corps family, guidance in the coming days.

The last few weeks in our church, we’ve really experienced God’s presence in our meetings. God is alive and working in our lives of everyone who is part of our worship. During last Sunday’s meeting were asked to pray at 9am each morning for God’s guidance, as God told us in Exodus 6:1 “Now go and see what I will do”.

Please pray for Bellshill Salvation Army in these coming days, as we’ve been deeply challenged by God in these last weeks, and are ready to respond to God’s guidance.

When you call out to someone to get their attention, but they don’t hear you (or pretend not to hear you), it can be disappointing and/or frustrating. Similarly if you send a text/IM/email to someone, it can also be disappointing and/or frustrating if you receive no response.

I love the Lord, because He hears my voice and my prayers. I will call on Him as long as I live, because He has turned His ear to me. ~ Psalm 116:1-2 (NIV)

God never frustrates us, He is always with us, and always listens when we speak to Him. So call out to God and He will hear you, and will answer your prayers.

We cannot love people if we are afraid of being hurt or taken advantage of. Perfect love casts out fear! ~ Joyce Meyer
Life can be tough sometimes can’t it? We make friends, we get into relationships, we become good friends, but then something happens which leaves us feeling hurt or taken advantage of. In turn this makes us reluctant to get into future relationships because we’re scared we will get hurt all over again.

True love however can help us overcome any fears we may have of being hurt again. The purest love is that given to us by God, and therefore His love can help us overcome any of our fears.

In yesterday’s blog post, Show love, I spoke about how the we should treat others in the way we would want others to treat us. Today, let’s look at that in a slightly different way – I don’t know about you, but when I’ve given someone an unexpected gift, it not only makes the receiver feel good, but it also brings a smile and a good feeling to me too.

That’s not a great surprise though is it, as Jesus teaches us to

Give, and it will be given to you. You will have more than enough. It can be pushed down and shaken together and it will still run over as it is given to you. The way you give to others is the way you will receive in return.~ Luke 6:38 (New life version)

When someone treats you badly, or doesn’t treat you in a way you’d want to be treated, do you ever stop any wonder why?

In Luke chapter 6 verses 36 – 37 Jesus teaches about finding bad in others:

You must have loving-kindness just as your Father has loving-kindness. Do not say what is wrong in other people’s lives. Then other people will not say what is wrong in your life. Do not say someone is guilty. Then other people will not say you are guilty. Forgive other people and other people will forgive you.

So maybe it’s not always the other person’s fault that they have treated us as they have, maybe they are treating us as we treated them. Therefore take care in how you treat others, because as we read above, if we show love to others, it’ll make it so much easier for others to treat as with love too.
