Yesterday I reminded us that no-one should feel like an outsider with God, because God loves each one of us.

Despite this, there are still hose who feel like outsiders. So what makes them feel like they are outsiders? There can be a number of reason why in certain aspect of life, people can feel like an outsider. Here’s a few:

  • They have no family or close friends who go to the same place – possibly a club, church or even place of employment.
  • They find it difficult to make friends.
  • They feel physically or emotionally different.
  • They come from a different cultural or spiritual background.
  • They feel alone on a crowd.
  • They don’t like having to ‘make conversation’ with others.

When people feel like outsiders it’s unlikely that no-one notices, that’s the very nature of why they feel like an outsider. So I ask you today, every place you go this week, have a look around at everyone there, is there anyone there who meets any of the criteria I’ve listed above?

If so, there’s a good chance they may be feeling like an outsider, so do something about it – Reach out to them, befriend them. It may be difficult because of how they are feeling, but persevere. You can help an outsider feel they belong in your circle, just as we all belong to God.

Ever felt as if you don’t really belong? It can’t be a nice feeling when you’ve not got any close friends; no-one looks out for you; and then when you’re ‘missing’ no-one even notices. This can happen in any aspect of someone’s life; at school, in their job, social club, sports club, and even at church.

The sad part of that is definitely when people feel alone when at their own church, as isn’t church a place where you should definitely not feel like an outsider!

There are no outsiders to God, because he loves every regardless of your background, or what they have done.

There are no outsiders to Your love
We are all welcome, there’s grace enough
When I have wandered Lord, your cross is the open door
There are no outsiders
I’m not an outsider to Your love

So don’t ever feel like you’re on your own, or on the outside, because God loves you.

Time, clock, watch.

Time is the same no matter how busy you  are or how relaxed you are.

Tick tock the clock need stops.

The minutes and hours speed by.

The days, weeks and months are over before we’ve even got used to which day we’re on.

Time stops for nothing or for anything,

Then you find you’re watching the clock and the complete opposite happens!

Time seems to stand still – tick…tock,,,

There’s nothing any of us can do to speed up time,,,tick,,,,tock…has the clock stopped?

The next stage is clear, keep going…the clock marches on.

Time, clock, watch…make the most of your time, as you’ll never get any of it back.

I was always taught that boasting was something we shouldn’t do. i.e. we should not talk with excessive pride and self-satisfaction about someone’s achievements, possessions, or abilities – that could be about ourselves or someone else.

So really, we shouldn’t show off! I’m laughing as I type, as I’m sure we can all think of people in our lives who regularly and unashamed ‘show off’!

But is boasting about someone always the wrong thing to do? No, I don’t believe it is. Isn’t telling others about Christ and the wonderful things He can do for us boasting? And that is definitely not wrong is it?

Boasting about God and Christ, is definitely the right thing to do!

One day

When we all get to heaven
What a day of rejoicing that will be
When we all see Jesus
We’ll sing and shout the victory

One day we will see face to face, Jesus
Is there a greater vision of grace
And in a moment, we shall be changed
On that day

One day we will all get to heaven. When that day will arrive for each of us, only God knows.

I don’t mean to be morbid but, are you ready for that day?

We should not be afraid of death, as when we die we’ll get to meet Jesus face to face – Won’t that be wonderful?

Our time on earth is short, so make the most of every day, but also make sure you’re ready to meet Jesus face to face.

We will weep no more
No more tears, no more shame
No more struggle, no more
Walking through the valley of the shadow
No cancer, no depression
Just the brightness of Your glory
Just the wonder of Your grace
Everything as it was meant to be
All of this will change
When we see You face to face
Jesus, face to face

See me

If they could see me now…

Words many of us will have said at some time – Maybe in relation to

  • family members who have passed away
  • teachers who told you you’d never achieve anything with your life
  • friends or colleagues that always put you down, believing they were better than you
  • friends you no longer keep in touch with

For me, I don’t really care about those from my past life who never believed I’d achieve anything with my life. I do however care that I make my Mum and Dad proud – I wish they were still here with me, but they’re not, so to me the best I can do is make them proud of me.

Just a few weeks ago as I was the cemetery after leaving flowers on a family grave, the song If you Could See Me Now by the Script was playing in the car. I think about my Mum and Dad every day as I miss them so very much, but since the day that song came on in the car, I’ve found myself thinking, if they could see me now…

If You Could See Me Now by The Script

It was February 14, Valentine’s Day
The roses came but they took you away
Tattooed on my arm is a charm to disarm all the harm
Gotta keep myself calm but the truth is you’re gone
And I’ll never get to show you these songs
Dad, you should see the tours that I’m on
I see you standing there next to Mom
Both singing along, yeah on and on
And there are days when I’m losing my faith
Because the man wasn’t good, he was great
He’d say “Music was the home for your pain”
And explained I was young, he would say
Take that rage, put it on a page
Take that page to the stage
Blow the roof off the place
I’m trying to make you proud
Do everything you did
I hope you’re up there with God saying “That’s my kid!”
I still look for your face in the crowd
Oh if you could see me now
(Oh if you could see me now)
Would you stand in disgrace or take a bow?
Oh if you could see me now
(Oh if you could see me now)

Between us

I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us. ~ Romans 3:38-39 (The Message)

When we’re young we have friendships that we feel will last forever. But for many of us, those relationships which we thought were solid, turn out to be just passing friendships.

Unlike those friendships which don’t last forever, God has promised to love us forever – It’s fantastic to know that no matter what happens, God is there for us.

24/7 365 days a year – That’s a lot of time isn’t it!

Here’s the scary part, that’s how much time God wants us to live like Him.

Now here’s the reassuring part, God is with us every second of those 24/7 365 days of every year!

So if you’re not living your life for Christ 24/7 365 days a year, it’s time to consider your life again. Make your life all it can be, by living your life for God each and every day.

Contained

When we’re looking forward to something, for example a holiday, a wedding, the birth of your child, it can be difficult to contain you excitement. Our excitement can be compared to an overflowing cup, where our excitement is greater than the cup so is overflowing from the cup.

Just as we can get excited about things, so God is excited about His love for us. God has always told us He loves each one of us, so has more than enough love for each of us. He has so much love that it continually flows from Him to us because it cannot be contained.

If my heart is a cup
Your love is an ocean
You fill me up
Like rivers overflowing

So hold our your cup and accept God’s love that is flowing freely to you.

We all have things which annoy us, some trivial, some quite serious. So today I want to share with you some of the trivial things that annoy me…they’re listed in no particular order:

  1. People who treat you like a child just because you’re younger than them.
  2. Those who park on double-yellow lines just to save themselves have to walk a few extra meters to the nearest parking space.
  3. When less qualified or experienced individuals thinks they know better than you, even although you’ve been there and done something many times before.
  4. When the weather forecasters say we’re going to have fantastic dry warm weather, but then discover they’re actually talking about the south of England, and our weather is actually going to be the complete opposite!
  5. Individuals who drop litter rather than put it in a litter bin that’s only a few meters away.

Do any of these annoyances sound familiar to you?

Yes, all the above things annoy me, but most of time I manage to stay quiet when they happen and just observe and say or do nothing as I know it’s just me being me!
