We’re told God always answers our prayers. We’re told that even though God will always answers our prayers, He may not do so in the way we want, or even when we want.

Sometimes it can seem like God has forgotten us, because we get no answers to our prayers. That doesn’t mean God’s forgotten us, or our prayer, He’s simply decided now is not the best time to answer your prayer.

This means that God knows where we are just now is where we need to be.

We talk a lot about how much we should believe in God, and how we want to live more like Jesus each day. But do our words and our actions show others that we love God?

We can say we’re a Christian, we can go to church regularly, we can go through the motions of being a Christian, but if we’ve not given our heart to God, we can never truly live our lives as God wants us to.

Do your words and actions show others you believe in Christ?

I pray that the way I live my life, will reflect that I love God.

Unable to stop thinking about something; having a complete preoccupation with someone or something, to an extent that seems extreme to others.

Obsessions come in lots of different forms

  • dieting
  • going to the gym, fitness, sporting activities
  • trying to keep looking youthful
  • health supplements
  • working
  • being the best at everything
  • religion

While the description above of being obsessed may seem quite extreme, obsessions do not need to be bad things. In fact, once we acknowledge our obsessions and know when they’re taking over our daily activities, we’ve regained control.

Having said that, I hope that others can see I am obsessed with God, because I love Him, and I know He loves me. I therefore try to do all I can to repay God’s love for me each day but living my life for Him. That I know to some, may seem like I am obsessed, but to me, it’s no obsession, it’s simply my way of repaying God for all He’s done for me.

I’m not entirely sure why, but I’ve found myself thinking about my life now, and how that compares to what my life was like when I was much younger.

In doing that, I’ve wondered, if I was able to give my younger self some advice or information to help them, what would that be. So today I want to share with you three bits of advise I’d want to give my younger self:

  1. Don’t be so concerned about showing your emotions, they show you’re human, and that you care!
  2. Hug those you love and tell them daily how much you love them, as tomorrow is not guaranteed.
  3. Trust God, no matter what situations you’re going through.

How about you, what advise would you give your younger self?

I don’t know about you, but I hate it when I’m part way through something, but have to stop working on it before I am able to finish it.

Because of Easter we have unfinished work that we must do for God. And because of Easter we have the power of God’s love to help us finish the work that Jesus started.

From cowardice defend us
From lethargy awake!
Forth on Thine errands send us
To labour for Thy sake

We go to all the world
With kingdom hope unfurled
No other name has power to save
But Jesus Christ The Lord

Through the dark I hear Your voice
Rising up I will rejoice
For I was lost but now I’m found
‘Cause even death can’t hold You down
You are God, You’re the Great “I Am”
Breath of life I breathe You in
Even in the fire, I’m alive in You
You are strong in my brokenness
Sovereign over every step
Even in the fire, I’m alive
I’m alive in You

Christ is alive, but is he living in you?

Even when we go through really difficult times, it’s important that we still keep our faith in God. We we put our faith completely in God, we are alive in Christ, as Christ is living within us.

Be alive in Christ, and continue to help others put their faith in God, and find new life!

Now Easter is over, and we’ve celebrated Christ’s death and his resurrection, what’s next for those of us who believe that Christ is alive?

For us Easter is just the beginning, it’s the reason we now have a responsibility to tell others how much God loves them. So we must go out into our neighbourhoods and our communities and tell them how much God loves them and forgives them for all their sins.

If we do this, we can help others find true love in their life when they give their heart to God.

Easter weekend may now be over, and we’re all back at work, or school, but Easter isn’t really over. In fact because of Easter, our lives have only just begun!

Because of Easter we have been forgiven of every sin.

Because of Easter we know God loves us.

Because of Easter we don’t need to fear anything.

Because of Easter we know Christ is alive!

Because of Easter we now show our love for God by living for Him.

Because of Easter we now have the responsibility to go and share the goof news that Christ is alive, to those who don’t know Him.

I love a number of Easter songs, but there is one which I definitely consider to be my favourite. As I haven’t shared it with you this Easter, I thought I’d share it with you today.

Forever by Kari Jobe

The moon and stars they wept
The morning sun was dead
The Saviour of the world was fallen
His body on the cross
His blood poured out for us
The weight of every curse upon Him

One final breath He gave
As heaven looked away
The son of God was laid in darkness
A battle in the grave
The war on death was waged
The power of hell forever broken

The ground began to shake
The stone was rolled away
His perfect love could not be overcome
Now death where is your sting?
Our resurrected King
Has rendered you defeated

Forever He is glorified
Forever He is lifted high
Forever He is risen
He is alive, He is alive!

The ground began to shake
The stone was rolled away
His perfect love could not be overcome
Now death where is your sting?
Our resurrected King
Has rendered you defeated

Forever He is glorified
Forever He is lifted high
Forever He is risen
He is alive, He is alive!

We sing hallelujah
We sing hallelujah
We sing hallelujah
The Lamb has overcome

Forever He is glorified
Forever He is lifted high
Forever He is risen
He is alive, He is alive!

You have overcome
You have overcome
You have overcome
You have overcome

There is no doubt in my mind that Christ is alive! Even though he was put to death at Calvary, he overcame death by rising again and then ascended to heaven to be with his Father, God.

Because of those events, we celebrate Easter every year, in the knowledge that Christ really have overcome the world by dying for us.

When we succeed at something, when we’re victorious, you want to shout about it don’t you? That’s why the name of this cornet solo, The Victory Cry, is such a great title given it features the wonderful words the song The Power of the Cross:

Christ overcome the world when he gave His life for us. He achieved victory over evil and sin. Let’s shout about that victory this Easter.

Oh, to see the dawn
Of the darkest day:
Christ on the road to Calvary.
Tried by sinful men,
Torn and beaten, then
Nailed to a cross of wood.

This, the power of the cross:
Christ became sin for us,
Took the blame, bore the wrath:
We stand forgiven at the cross.

Oh, to see the pain
Written on Your face
Bearing the awesome weight of sin;
Every bitter thought,
Every evil deed
Crowning Your bloodstained brow.

Now the daylight flees,
Now the ground beneath
Quakes as its Maker bows His head.
Curtain torn in two,
Dead are raised to life;
‘Finished!’ the victory cry.

Oh, to see my name
Written in the wounds,
For through Your suffering I am free.
Death is crushed to death,
Life is mine to live,
Won through Your selfless love.

This, the power of the cross:
Son of God, slain for us.
What a love! What a cost!
We stand forgiven at the cross.
