Have you ever been told you’re not good enough, or that you’re a nobody? It hurts doesn’t it?

Imagine you are continually told those things by someone who others think love you or care for you, by someone who should have your best interests at heart.

You’re never alone and you really do matter!

The song Fear is a liar by Zach Williams was co-written by Jonathan Smith. Zach stated that “Fear is a Liar” is a declaration of encouragement and some scriptural reality that he wanted to communicate to fans.  He explained what the song for about

We were calling out the devil for who he is, and reminding him that he was a liar, and that he has already been defeated. That was the idea for that song. I wanted something that people would relate to, and find hope in.

For anybody who was struggling with fear or going through something, I hope this song gives them hope, to call the devil out.

So if you’re frightened or scared, don’t give up, turn to God because he does care about you.

Fear Is a Liar

When he told you you’re not good enough
When he told you you’re not right
When he told you you’re not strong enough
To put up a good fight
When he told you you’re not worthy
When he told you you’re not loved
When he told you you’re not beautiful
That you’ll never be enough

Fear he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
Cause fear he is a liar

When he told you were troubled
You’ll forever be alone
When he told you you should run away
You’ll never find a home
When he told you you were dirty
And you should be ashamed
When he told you you could be the one
That grace could never change

Fear he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
Cause fear he is a liar

Let Your fire fall and cast out all my fears
Let Your fire fall Your love is all I feel

Fear he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
Cause fear he is a liar

What do we really need in life?

Food, water, air, clothes, a roof over our head, money, love, a friend?

Some of those things are necessities for us to live, but some are not essential they are just things that would make life a little easier or happier for us.

Maybe all we really need is God!

Maybe all we really need is to believe!

Why is it when you’re tired or fed up and can’t wait for a particular time to come, it feels like time has stopped? Every clock or watch you look at seems to taunt you by moving extra slowly.

How you noticed that even when the seems to be passing extra slowly, you still struggle to get anything done? Probably because you’re too busy watching the clock tick and time pass so slowly. Even your brain seems to be working against you as you’re struggling to concentrate on anything.

Finally the clock reaches the time you’ve been waiting for all day, so you rush off home so you can relax and chill, but does this mean time continues to pass very slowly? Of course not! Now that you’re doing something you were really looking forward to, time starts to pass extra quickly! So much so, that before you realise it, you time for relaxing has passed, and it’s time for you go back to your daily routine again, where time seems to pass so slowly.

Watching the clock on the wall seeming to tick very slowly the other day, it reminded me that we spend much of our time wishing time would go by quickly because we’re looking forward to something. But conversely, we also spend a lot of our time wishing time wouldn’t go by so quickly because when we’re doing something we enjoy or are spending time with loved ones, time seems to go by quickly.

Do we make the best use of our time each day? We spend our lives wishing our time away, but have we actually made the best use of each moment we have on this earth? I’ve found in my own life that it’s not until those I love have passed away that I wish I had spent more quality time with them. So please don’t make that same mistake as me, use your time carefully, and live for now instead of always wishing the future to become the present.

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. ~ Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)

In several posts last week I spoke about faith, in Not invisible and Faith in the darkness. Have you noticed that the bible verse I’ve used today reiterates that faith is not about what we see?

Putting our faith in something we cannot see can seem a stupid thing to do, especially to those who don’t believe in the existence of God. However for those of us who do believe, it isn’t such a ridiculous believe because God has proved his existence to us – he offers us forgiveness every time we commit a sin, and he still loves and cares for us today, regardless of our past, because he cares about our future.

God actively shows me that my faith in him is merited, because he answers my prayers. I’m sure many of you can testify of God’s love for you too.

Is it good enough for us just to believe in God, and do nothing else?

I believe it is not. I believe that as a Christian, I have a responsibility to tell others about God, and about how he loves them, even if they don’t believe in his existence.

Telling others about our faith and our beliefs, shouldn’t be a case of just quoting scripture at people. People are more likely to believe what we have to say if they can see by the way we live, that we believe in God. So we must live as Christ would live, then others will see Christ in us, and then they might believe that if God is more than enough for us, that He can be more than just enough for them too.

God is more than just enough for me, He is my everything.

Some people will lie to make them seem more important. Some will lie to cover up their mistakes. Others will lie to play on your sympathy. While some will lie for their own gain (financially or professionally).

Some people lie thinking their lies will never be found out, but from experience I suspect we can all think of people who have lied to us, or our friends and family, but who have ended up catching themselves out in their own lies.

Some are even more blatant than that, some tell lies to people to their face then post contradicting statements or photos on social media which these same people can see. Do they think those they lie to are blind or don’t comprehend the contradictions the person lying is posting?

It’s true what many say, when people lie, those lies will catch up with them. Usually because they forget the details of the lies they’ve told, so end up telling different people different ‘stories’ or versions of their lies. All that will happen is those you’ve lied to will no longer trust you or respect you.

Lying will never get you anywhere. In fact it’s more likely to lose you friends, and opportunities or support from your work colleagues. The bottom line is just don’t lie!

Darkness can be terrifying at times, particularly when you’re in unfamiliar surroundings. You can’t see what dangers lie ahead, and have no idea whether there’s even a path in front of you or not.

Those same feelings apply when we’re facing tough times in our life – The darkness may not be physical darkness in these circumstances, but it still feels like a darkness because of our mood or our emotional state.

Those of us who believe in God are not immune from feeling ‘the darkness descend’ around their lives at times. That’s because, we are still human, we still go through the same life events and circumstances that everyone else does. The only difference is that we believe what the picture above tells us, that God guides us through every day of our lives, even those when we feel like we’re sinking into the darkness, are no-one cares.

It’s during those times that no matter how much we think God has abandoned or deserted us, we must continue to be faithful to God, as he is always faithful to us. He promised never to leave us, and God always keeps his promises. We just need to have faith.

It can help us when we can get a mental picture of things. Which is why we probably like to be able to see things to help us make a decision.

Some would therefore question how we can believe in God when we can’t see Him. But while God himself is not visible, his actions and his love definitely are. And it’s because of what God does for us that our faith in him grows.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (The passion translation)

For we live by faith, not by what we see with our eyes.

Who else can send us a friend or confidant when we feel alone?

Who else can give us direction when we dont know where our life is going?

Who else can confort us when we grieve, and remind us to focus on the good memories.

When you’re amazed by something, you want to tell everyone about it, don’t you?

So why is it, for many Christians, they keep their faith very much to themselves, and don’t take opportunities that present themselves, to share God’s love with others?

I want to tell everyone about God, and what he can do for them. That is in part, why I started blogging, although I never really intended to blog every day, and I certainly didn’t intend my blog to be about my faith. However God obviously had different plans, and has directed me to share more about my faith and my love for God through my blog, than I would ever do face to face with anyone.

Yes I blog about more than just God and my faith, but to me, that shows I’m human, and am more than just someone who blindly follows God. I’ve faced some major challenges in my life, some I’ve shared with you over the years, others are too personal for that. But through each of them, I’ve come out the other side with my faith intact, and in fact with my faith stronger than ever.

That’s why I want to repay God for his unconditional love for me, by telling others of his love. I want to ‘shout’ about his love for me, and for you. I’d encourage you to to ‘shout’ about your faith.

Never cease

God has promised to love us always – Jeremiah 31:3 (The Voice)

I have loved you with an everlasting love— out of faithfulness I have drawn you close.

Therefore in return, isn’t it only right that we worship God for the rest of our days?

Let every breath, all that I am
Never cease to worship You
