Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.
How often have you looked forward to something so much that you build up your expectations, and then when the date or event comes it’s a major disappointment? This last year and a half since COVID-19 restrictions were first put in place across the UK, has been a bit like that hasn’t it? With proposals of restrictions easing on specific dates, but then those dates being put back, then further restrictions being put in pace again.
I’m sure when first lockdown happened in March last year, we never imagined that by this time we would still be living with some restrictions. Well the good news for us as a band, is that tonight, for the first time since March 2020, we will have our first in-person band rehearsal, indoors, in our hall!
We are grateful for God’s love for us all particularly during these difficult days. We give thanks to God for the continued ministry of the band as we’ve been able to share music and devotions with you via our social media channels.
But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and has made the Lord his hope and confidence. He is like a tree planted along a riverbank, with its roots reaching deep into the water—a tree not bothered by the heat nor worried by long months of drought. Its leaves stay green, and it goes right on producing all its luscious fruit.Jeremiah 17:7-8 (Living Bible)
As I considered what to share with you today, the words of the flugelhorn horn solo, ‘Through It All’, came to mind, as they reminded me that through these last months it has been our faith and trust in God that has kept us serving Him.
Through it all I choose to serve the saviour Through it all I claim Christ as my friend Through it all my faith will never waver Till He calls me home or comes again
We would ask that you pray for the band tonight, particularly as for some this may be their first steps back to ‘normality’. Thank you.
