Reassurance

At the start of every day, isn’t it reassuring to know that, no matter what each day may bring, God is with us and will take care of everything that may stress or worry us.

It’s definitely worth reminding ourselves of this at the start of each day, because we’re human, and so can be easy to forget God has everything under his control.

What is faith?

This quote from Charles Surgeon, pretty much sums it up I think.

When everything is going well, it can be easy to trust God. However when we’re challenged or face difficult situations, we can be guilty of turning away from God because we think he doesn’t care or isn’t there for us any more. However during those difficult times, that is when we should trust God more than ever.

When we do trust God through no matter what situations we face, our faith will keep us strong and keep us believing God will get us through whatever we’re facing.

When there seems no hope at all, remember, there is God!

God can calm every storm, rid us of all fears, give us hope for the future, and love us always. There is no-one else who can give us all those things, so there is no reason not to have faith in God.

I’m sure we’ve all faced situations or circumstances when we’ve felt as if there’s no way you can get through it. But here we are, we’re still here, so we must have made it through those difficult times. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t a struggle or that we didn’t wish we didn’t need to face those things, it simply means we had  the strength to make it through those times.

Everybody falls sometimes
Gotta find the strength to rise
From the ashes
And make a new beginning

Anyone can feel the ache
You think it’s more than you can take
But you’re stronger
Stronger than you know

When we put our trust firmly in God, he will give us the strength we need to get through anything.

Always remember, you are stronger than you could ever imagine when God is supporting you. So trust Him, and he will give you the strength you need, always.

Don’t you give up now
The sun will soon be shining
You gotta face the clouds
To find the silver lining

I’ve seen dreams that move the mountains
Hope that doesn’t ever end
Even when the sky is falling
I’ve seen miracles just happen
Silent prayers get answered
Broken hearts become brand new
That’s what faith can do

What’s your trademark?

A trademark is normally a symbol, word, or words legally registered or established by use as representing a company or product. However imagine you could come up with a trademark for yourself.

I wonder whether the trademark you’d come up with would allow others to easily realise it was your trademark.

I pray the way I leave others feeling after any interaction or encounter with me, is a positive one. So I hope my trademark would show others first and foremost that I am a Christian and that I am therefore a trustworthy, compassionate and loving person.

I’m not entirely sure why, but I’ve found myself thinking about my life now, and how that compares to what my life was like when I was much younger.

In doing that, I’ve wondered, if I was able to give my younger self some advice or information to help them, what would that be. So today I want to share with you three bits of advise I’d want to give my younger self:

  1. Don’t be so concerned about showing your emotions, they show you’re human, and that you care!
  2. Hug those you love and tell them daily how much you love them, as tomorrow is not guaranteed.
  3. Trust God, no matter what situations you’re going through.

How about you, what advise would you give your younger self?

Never alone

Have you noticed how some people in your life seems to go missing when you’re going through a difficult time? It’s true that you really do find out who your friends are when you’re struggling. So it is not a surprise that no matter what you’re going through, God stays with you always.

Even when you feel alone, scared or just struggling to face life, God is there with you, and will never leave you alone.

When I walk through deep waters
I know that You will be with me
When I’m standing in the fire
I will not be overcome
Through the valley of the shadow
I will not fear
I am not alone
I am not alone
You will go before me
You will never leave me

As I said in yesterday’s blog post, Why?, I talked about how we all have times when we question God. We question Him when we feel we face problem and problem, or when we feel we can’t face any further difficulties in our life.

I know if you wanted to you could wave your hand
Spare me this heartache and change your plan
And I know when he said that you could take my pain away
But even if you don’t I pray

But even when we’re struggling with difficult times in our life, I found putting them to one side, even just for a few minutes at a time, and offering help and support to others who are also struggling.

So when you feel you want relief from your troubles remember it does help you when you help others.

Help me want the healer more than the healing
Help me want the savior more than the saving
Help me want the giver more than the giving
Oh help me want you Jesus more than anything

How many times have you heard someone say they are “taking one day at a time”? This statement is often used when someone is going through a difficult time, either health or life issues, and is said to indicate that the person is just trying to get through and survive the coming day.

God has planned out our lives before we take our first breath, so even when we take one day at a time, we can still follow his plan for us. God is with us through every situation and circumstance we find ourselves in. But if we put our trust in Him, he will guide us through each day, supporting and guiding us.

So take one day at a time when you need to, but take it with God.

Negative thoughts may try to convince you that God will never rescue you. Prayer rinses these plaguing doubts from your mind. As you cry out to God, He answers you. He shields you with His presence.  ~ Women Who Move Mountains by Sue Detweiler

Negativity and negative thoughts can be one of the worst things you ave to cope with, especially when the negativity comes from within you. So if your life is filled with self-doubt, pray. If your life is filled with negative thoughts, pray.

In other words, pray, as prayer is the one thing that can bring you the positivity that only God’s presence can bring to your life. God alone can shield you and help fill your mind with all things good. So go on, don’t doubt God, instead trust Him.
