There are certain situations where you have to put your full trust in someone because your life depends on it. Here’s a very examples of varying levels of severity

  • Flying – we put our trust in the pilots that they have been trained well, and are competent at their job.
  • Climbing – we rely on those at the other end of the rope to hold tight in case you lose your footing.
  • Surgeons – when we need an operation, regardless of how minor it is, we put our trust in the surgeon and the theatre staff to take care of you and make sure you get through your operation without any complications.

Each of these situations could end on tragedy if the person you’ve put your trust in is not 100% competent in the job they are doing.

It can be difficult sometimes to know who to trust, particularly when we’re in a stressful or life-threatening situation. But be reassured, there is always one person you can trust to be there for you in every situation – God will always be right there with you because He has promised to never let go of us. So let Him help you be strong, whatever happens.

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. ~ Psalm 46:1-3 (NIV)

You won’t let go by Michael W. Smith

No shadow comes without the light making a way
No raging storm can ever defy one word of faith
My heart remains sure in the wind, sure in the waves

You are the anchor for my soul
You won’t let go
You won’t let go
No matter what may come I know
You won’t let go

No valley low, changes the truth
So I’m not afraid
You hold me close
You lead me through and light up the way

You are the anchor for my soul
You won’t let go
You won’t let go
No matter what may come I know
You won’t let go
You won’t let go

Neither life, neither death,
The highest high, the deepest depth
Nothing can
Nothing can separate
Neither tears, neither trials
Certain as the sun will rise
Nothing can
Nothing can separate

You are the anchor for my soul
You won’t let go
You won’t let go
No matter what may come I know
You won’t let go

“Don’t worry”, easy words to say, but ones that can be particularly difficult to put into action. Even when we believe God is with us through everything, those words, “Don’t worry”, can still be hard to accept.

Philippians 4:6-7

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Talk to God about it, tell Him how difficult you find it not to worry. He can ease your stress by calming your heart and mind and giving your inner peace.

I don’t know about you, but when I’m not feeling so good, or feeling low, emotional or alone, I just want to hide from the world and everyone in it. The last thing I want to do is run to someone for help, I prefer to be on my own, and cope with whatever I face by myself.

I know I don’t ever need to face anything on my own, as God is always with me, and will always help me. But when it comes to interacting with the world and the people in it, sometimes I just don’t want to, especially when it feels like no-one even notices when I’m not around.

At those times, that’s when I do run to God, because He’s the only one who truly knows and understand me, and how I feel. He gives me peace and hides me under His wings.

Hide Myself by Michael W Smith

I’ve heard the thunder before
I’m not a stranger to storms
Even in the flood
I can always run
To where You are

I’ve had to wait in the dark
And hold the truth in my heart
Even in the night
Still You open wide
Your faithful arms

And I hide myself
Where I find my help
And I hide myself
I find only rest
Find only peace
Beneath Your wings

You are the refuge that stands
You hold my world in Your hands
The quiet in the noise
The stillness of Your voice
Will be enough

And I hide myself
Where I find my help
And I hide myself
I find only rest
I find only peace

And I hide myself
Where I find my help
And I hide myself
I find only rest
Find only peace
Beneath Your wings

And it’s Your presence alone
That changes all that I know
‘Til all that I know
Is just Your presence alone
I’m safe in Your shadow

And I hide myself
Where I find my help
And I hide myself
I find only rest
I find only peace

And I hide myself
Where I find my help
And I hide myself
I find only rest
Find only peace
Beneath Your wings

Even in the flood
I can always run
To where You are

When life gets tough it can seem like nothing is possible. However we can often find more strength than we knew we possessed during those times, to overcome adversity.

God is with us during our happiest of times, but he’s also with us through our darkest times. Even when don’t feel God is with us, He is. And it’s Him who gives us our greatest strength to face every situation we face in life.

Always remember, it’s during those tough times, that we grow the most, because those situations give us real-life experience allowing us to grow and learn. That’s probably not how it feels when we’re going through those difficult times, but when you look back on them once you’re in a happier place, I’m sure you’ll realise then how much strength God gave you to get through those difficult days.

Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love. ~ Lao Tzu Off The Racetrack From Color-blind to Color-kind

Being kind to someone isn’t just about being nice to them. As the above quote says, being kind to someone many emotions or feelings in the person who experiences your kindness.

Kindness starts by showing someone unconditional love, and that gives the receiver the confidence that they can trust you. And when you trust someone love shines through.

Be kind to others, because isn’t that how you’d want others to treat you?

But I promise you this—the Holy Spirit will come upon you and you will be filled with power. And you will be my messengers to Jerusalem, throughout Judea, the distant provinces — even to the remotest places on earth!” ~ Acts 1:8 (TPT)

God wants you and me to be His messengers. He needs us to be ready and willing to will go wherever He needs us to go, to do His work.

Are you willing to be His messenger?

Just because what’s going on in your life right now doesn’t feel good, doesn’t mean God’s not working. ~ Joyce Meyer

It can be tough to believe things will get better for you when you’re in the middle of a difficult time in your life. But even during those times God is with you. Remember that God will always answer your prayers, maybe not when you want or how you want, but he will answer your prayers.

When you feel alone you can feel isolated which can be frightening. But even we really have nothing to fear, because God has promised to be there for us and strengthen us at all times. All we need to do is trust Him.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. ~ Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

Everyone struggles with loneliness at some point. Whether you are going through something hard that you don’t think anyone else understands or you are facing a change in life where you just feel alone, God’s Word provides hope and strength. There is someone who is closer than a brother and is always with You – Jesus Christ is our friend and comforter!

This is backed up by what we’re told in the bible. In Deuteronomy 31:6 we read:

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Words of comfort, words to reassure us of God’s presence, even when we feel everyone has deserted us.

At the start of every day, isn’t it reassuring to know that, no matter what each day may bring, God is with us and will take care of everything that may stress or worry us.

It’s definitely worth reminding ourselves of this at the start of each day, because we’re human, and so can be easy to forget God has everything under his control.
