Light is used to symbolise God, faith or holiness throughout scripture.

The Lord is my light and my salvation — whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life — of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:1 (NIV)

This bible verse is all about faith. Faith to believe that God will look after us, no matter what problems or circumstances we may face.

Do you trust God to look out for you in every situation? If not, maybe your faith isn’t as strong as you think it is. I encourage you to put your faith and trust firmly in God, because he alone can guide and strengthen you.

A flare can be used to either highlight your position to anyone who sees the flare, alerting them that you are in need of assistance. A flare can also be a sudden burst of bright flame or light, which can be used to give those that see it, direction to safety.

Ever tried to find your way in the pitch darkness?

Ever stumbled along in the darkness just wishing that you’d find some sort of guiding light to help you find your way?

In each of those situations, wouldn’t it be great to get some sort of light on our current situation, so that you can be guided to safety? In many ways God can be that ‘flare’ that we need in times of trouble, as if we put our trust firmly in him, no matter what we’re going through, God will be with us, and will guide us through those tough times.

So next time you see a flare or a beacon of light shining brightly, think of God – Is He shining a flare to help you find your way? Are you following?

In a recent conversation with someone we were talking about our frustrations at trying to get some specific tasks completed. During that conversation the person spoke about how they had agreed to take on the task because they felt they would be able to make a difference in other people’s lives by doing so.

Unfortunately that person has now found out that there are so many constraints on what they’re allowed to do, that they’re now questioning their decision agree to do the task. I felt so sorry for this person as you could see the passion and drive that they had when they first agreed to do the task, had slowly been drained from them. They were now questioning why they were still even trying to do the task.

The sad thing is, I know this person would, and could make a huge difference in others lives if they were allowed to get on with the task in hand without others unjustly putting obstacles in their way. Oh how the devil likes to wear us down doesn’t he?

We can be stronger than the devil when we’re challenged or frustrated by putting our trust firmly in God. If we give God all our frustrations, and all our challenges, God will help us get His work done by guiding us through those difficult times.

The couple of weeks ago, we spent most of a day going through desks and cupboards clearing out things that were no longer needed. This is the second time within a reasonably short period of time that we’ve done this. However we still found that many of the documents we’d kept the last time because we thought they were still required, were now not needed or of any use anymore.

This got me thinking about my own life and the past hurts and sorrows which I’m still hanging onto, even although I tell myself they don’t matter anymore. The only way to truly clear out those past hurts from our lives is to take them to God and leave them with him.

I’m sure we wouldn’t want to have to carry a huge pile of documents around with us all day every day if they were no longer useful, so why carry around hurts and disappointment each day which can eat away at us, when if we give them to God, our load will be lightened.

In yesterday’s blog (Not good enough)I shared how some think of themselves as a nobody, often because that what others have continually told them. But the good news is, not everyone thinks

Nobody but Jesus, loves everyone who others think are nobodies.

Nobody but Jesus, accepts everyone who others consider nobodies.

Nobody but Jesus, knows and understands why you feel like a nobody.

Nobody but Jesus, can rescue you.

Nobody but Jesus, know what you are capable of.

So believe in God, because He always believes in you, and knows you are not a nobody.

Why You ever chose me
Has always been a mystery
All my life I’ve been told I belong at the end of the line
With all the other Not-Quites
With all the Never-Get-It-Rights
But it turns out we’re the ones You’ve been looking for all this time

‘Cause I’m just a nobody
Trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody who saved my soul
Ever since You rescued me
You gave my heart a song to sing
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus

Moses had stage fright
And David brought a rock to a sword fight
You picked 12 outsiders nobody would’ve chosen
And You changed the world
Well, the moral of the story is
Everybody’s got a purpose
So when I hear that devil start talking to me, saying
“Who do you think you are”
I say…

I’m just a nobody
Trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody who saved my soul
Ever since You rescued me
You gave my heart a song to sing
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus

So let me go down down down in history
As another blood-bought faithful member of the family
And if they all forget my name, well, that’s fine with me
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus

So let me go down down down in history
As another blood-bought faithful member of the family
And if they all forget my name, well, that’s fine with me
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus

‘Cause I’m just a nobody
Trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody who saved my soul
Ever since You rescued me
You gave my heart a song to sing
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus

Have you ever been told you’re not good enough, or that you’re a nobody? It hurts doesn’t it?

Imagine you are continually told those things by someone who others think love you or care for you, by someone who should have your best interests at heart.

You’re never alone and you really do matter!

The song Fear is a liar by Zach Williams was co-written by Jonathan Smith. Zach stated that “Fear is a Liar” is a declaration of encouragement and some scriptural reality that he wanted to communicate to fans.  He explained what the song for about

We were calling out the devil for who he is, and reminding him that he was a liar, and that he has already been defeated. That was the idea for that song. I wanted something that people would relate to, and find hope in.

For anybody who was struggling with fear or going through something, I hope this song gives them hope, to call the devil out.

So if you’re frightened or scared, don’t give up, turn to God because he does care about you.

Fear Is a Liar

When he told you you’re not good enough
When he told you you’re not right
When he told you you’re not strong enough
To put up a good fight
When he told you you’re not worthy
When he told you you’re not loved
When he told you you’re not beautiful
That you’ll never be enough

Fear he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
Cause fear he is a liar

When he told you were troubled
You’ll forever be alone
When he told you you should run away
You’ll never find a home
When he told you you were dirty
And you should be ashamed
When he told you you could be the one
That grace could never change

Fear he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
Cause fear he is a liar

Let Your fire fall and cast out all my fears
Let Your fire fall Your love is all I feel

Fear he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
Cause fear he is a liar

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. ~ Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)

In several posts last week I spoke about faith, in Not invisible and Faith in the darkness. Have you noticed that the bible verse I’ve used today reiterates that faith is not about what we see?

Putting our faith in something we cannot see can seem a stupid thing to do, especially to those who don’t believe in the existence of God. However for those of us who do believe, it isn’t such a ridiculous believe because God has proved his existence to us – he offers us forgiveness every time we commit a sin, and he still loves and cares for us today, regardless of our past, because he cares about our future.

God actively shows me that my faith in him is merited, because he answers my prayers. I’m sure many of you can testify of God’s love for you too.

Darkness can be terrifying at times, particularly when you’re in unfamiliar surroundings. You can’t see what dangers lie ahead, and have no idea whether there’s even a path in front of you or not.

Those same feelings apply when we’re facing tough times in our life – The darkness may not be physical darkness in these circumstances, but it still feels like a darkness because of our mood or our emotional state.

Those of us who believe in God are not immune from feeling ‘the darkness descend’ around their lives at times. That’s because, we are still human, we still go through the same life events and circumstances that everyone else does. The only difference is that we believe what the picture above tells us, that God guides us through every day of our lives, even those when we feel like we’re sinking into the darkness, are no-one cares.

It’s during those times that no matter how much we think God has abandoned or deserted us, we must continue to be faithful to God, as he is always faithful to us. He promised never to leave us, and God always keeps his promises. We just need to have faith.

When you’re amazed by something, you want to tell everyone about it, don’t you?

So why is it, for many Christians, they keep their faith very much to themselves, and don’t take opportunities that present themselves, to share God’s love with others?

I want to tell everyone about God, and what he can do for them. That is in part, why I started blogging, although I never really intended to blog every day, and I certainly didn’t intend my blog to be about my faith. However God obviously had different plans, and has directed me to share more about my faith and my love for God through my blog, than I would ever do face to face with anyone.

Yes I blog about more than just God and my faith, but to me, that shows I’m human, and am more than just someone who blindly follows God. I’ve faced some major challenges in my life, some I’ve shared with you over the years, others are too personal for that. But through each of them, I’ve come out the other side with my faith intact, and in fact with my faith stronger than ever.

That’s why I want to repay God for his unconditional love for me, by telling others of his love. I want to ‘shout’ about his love for me, and for you. I’d encourage you to to ‘shout’ about your faith.

Into Your hands
I commit again
With all I am, for You, Lord
You hold my world
In the palm of Your hand
And I am Yours forever

Everything I am is because of God.

Everything I’ve failed to be, is because God has a greater plan for me, or I have thought I’ve known better and gone my own way.

Everything I can be, is only achievable when I put my whole trust in him

Jesus I believe in You
Jesus I belong to You
You’re the reason that I live
The reason that I sing
With all I am

I believe, do you?
