I’ve done a few Word Associations with you over the last while, and today it’s time for another one – This time with the theme ‘Sports’! I’m sure we all have our favourite sports, or ones we’re not so keen on, or maybe even ones we don’t understand. As usual I’ll throw the names of some sports at you, and I want you to note down the first word that comes into your mind when you read the name of the sport.

So here goes…

  1. Football (soccer)
  2. American football
  3. Cricket
  4. Darts
  5. Golf
  6. Pool
  7. Tennis
  8. Hockey
  9. Basketball
  10. Swimming

wordsSo how did you get on with those sports? Did you find it easy? Did your answers surprise you or were they just as you expected?

Well here’s my responses to my questions:

  1. Rangers
  2. Confusing
  3. Boring
  4. Dark
  5. Walking
  6. Green
  7. Wimbledon
  8. Ouch
  9. Tall
  10. Loud

I still believe that when we respond with the first words that come into our minds, our answers tell us a lot about our emotional state, and what’s important to us at that particular point in time.

Bearing all this in mind, review your answers, does my theory hold true?

By the way, if you want me to explain any of my answers, just ask!

So the new Scottish Premier League got underway today. Do you think Celtic will retain the premiership title? who’s going to be relegated?

Who do you think will win this year? – select one team in the poll.

So that’s the winners…but what about the losers? Who do you think will be relegated at the end of this season? You can choose up to three teams in the poll.

Good luck to whichever team you are supporting this season!

I don’t know about you, but this Christmas we definitely felt the TV programmes were particularly rotten over the holiday period. Yes, the was the odd half decent programme or film on, but on the whole there were a lot of very average programmes and many of them were repeats!

Christmas TVYou’d think the fact we have Sky we’d not have any problem finding something decent to watch each day over Christmas and New Year wouldn’t you? Sadly this wasn’t the case, as on many occasions we failed to find anything half decent to watch…that is except on days when there was any football on, as then we watched some really good football matches.

We’ve thought in previous years that the TV over Christmas and New Year couldn’t get much worse, but sadly we were wrong, this year was an all time low. I simply hope your taste in TV programmes is different from ours and you found some programmes you wanted to watch unlike us!

Well done to all the TV stations on providing the worst TV schedule for a Christmas period ever!

I’ve done a few Word Associations with you over the last few months, so today I’m going to give you another one. So as usual I’m going to throw some words at you  and I want you to note down the first word that comes into your mind when you read each word.

I’ve said in previous word association posts that I find I get a bit stressed when I’m doing them as I put a lot of pressure on myself not to over think my answers! Are you relaxed when you do them or do you find it stressful too?

I still believe that when we respond with the first words that come into our minds, our answers tell us a lot about our emotional state, and what’s important to us at that particular point in time.

Bearing all this in mind, review your answers, does my theory hold true?

I sometimes just pick some really random words and just try this myself just to see what my answers are – I know that really does sounds sad, but I often find it illuminating to discover what is occupying my subconscious…I’d urge you to try it out for yourself.

10. Blessings

12. Trombone

Were any of your answers the same as mine? Did any of your answers surprise you? What about my answers, were any of them the same as mine?

I love these word association games, especially if we really do say the first word that comes into our mind when the hear the trigger word. I think when we do that our answers, tell us a lot about what’s on our mind, and what’s important to us. So bearing this in mind, review your answers, does my theory hold true?

As I said before when I posted my first Word Association blog post, I sometimes just pick some really random words and just try this myself just to see what my answers are – I know that still sounds really sad, but I often find it illuminating to discover what is occupying my subconscious…I’d urge you to try it out for yourself.

With the end of the various football sessions in England and Scotland, I thought it was time to reflect on how wonderful football is.

Football supporters of the same team often come from different backgrounds and culture and come with different life experiences.

Competition is great, it’s people from the different backgrounds together supporting the same team.

Isn’t this all a bit like religion? There are many religions, each with different beliefs and cultural backgrounds, however we are ultimately all followers of Jesus.

This means that despite our religious/cultural differences, when the real battle against good and evil comes, we will all stand on the same side, with Jesus, as brothers and sisters.

Yes, there are differences in background, culture, and life experiences between football supports and Jesus’ supporters, however we must all accept, appreciate and enjoy the differences between us all – football supports and Jesus’ supporters.

Come Together by Third Day

You can all call me crazy
For the things that I might say
You can laugh all you want to
I know there will come a day
When we all will come together
And learn to set aside our hate
And we can learn to love our neighbor
Just like we would love ourselvesWe’ve got to come together
‘Cause in the end we can make it — alright
We’ve got to brave the weather
Through all of the storms
We’ve got to come together
‘Cause in the end we can make it — alright
We’ve got to learn to love
We’ve got to learn to love

You can call me a dreamer
But these dreams will come true
Yes, I am a firm believer
In the things that we can do
If we would all just come together
And let the Lord lead our way
There is nothing that we can’t do
There is nothing we can’t face

We’ve got to come together
‘Cause in the end we can make it — alright
We’ve got to brave the weather
Through all of the storms
We’ve got to come together
‘Cause in the end we can make it — alright
We’ve got to learn to love

And I know that there will come a day
When the Lord will call His own away
To a place that He has made for all of us
But until the day of His return
There’s a lesson that we’ve got to learn
We are brothers and we’re sisters
We are one

We’ve got to come together
‘Cause in the end we can make it — alright
We’ve got to brave the weather
Through all of the storms
We’ve got to come together
‘Cause in the end we can make it — alright
We’ve got to learn to love,
We’ve got to learn to love

Ya know we got to learn,
Know ya got to, ya know we got to learn to love
Yeah, yeah
Don’t you know, oh yeah, don’t you know
We’ve got to learn to love

So one match into the new season in the Scottish Premier League. Has anyone caught your eye? Is there anyone you think is destined to be relegated?

Personally, I hope Rangers will retain the SPL championship, sadly however I don’t think we’ll do it unless we get some major signings in the next couple of weeks. I can’t see anyone other than either Rangers or Celtic winning the league at this point, though someone may sneak in and surprise us all this year!

So I’d like to ask you to give me your predictions the winners of the SPL this season – you can select up to two teams in the poll.

So that’s the winners…but what about the losers? Who do you think will be relegated at the end of this season?

My prediction for relegation is St Mirren simply because there’s be so much change in personnel in their team for this season, and they were very lucky not to be relegated last season.

Good luck to whichever team you are supporting this season!
