Are you looking for simple ways to encourage your heart and nourish your soul?

In the last while I’ve given you some ideas which will hopefully inspire you to implement them in your own life, and over the coming weeks I’ll share some others with you.

So here’s today’s suggestion:

Turn off your TV

Controversial?

I know TV can be a huge part of many people’s lives these days, but I think we can get too caught up in Tv shows – drama, reality shows, sitcoms, soaps – but is it healthy for you or your relationship with your family?

Why now choose a day where no-one in your family turns on your TV one day. i.e. Have a TV free day, so that you and your family can spend some quality time together, talking to one another and more importantly listening to one another.

Today is all about options again – I’m going to give you two items at a time, and you have to choose which either best describes you or which you prefer:

  1. Dyson or Vax?
  2. Talker or listener?
  3. Ford or Citroen cars?
  4. Fawlty Towers or Only Fools and Horses?
  5. McDonalds or Burger King?
  6. Jazz or classical music?
  7. Electric or gas?
  8. Lions or tigers?
  9. Rolling Stones or The Beatles?
  10. Analogue or digital clock/watch?

A variety of questions, some about your personality, some about your preferences. Whatever your answers, together they define who you are.

In the last little while I’ve noticed there are a number of things which many of us will put in the category of either “love them” or “hate them”. So today I thought id share with you some of  my love or hate things and see if you can guess which category they fall into for me:

  1. Manchester United
  2. Cats
  3. Marmite
  4. Haggis
  5. Starbucks coffee
  6. Brussel sprouts
  7. Reality TV
  8. Jose Mourinho
  9. Dieting
  10. Soaps

A bit of a mixed bag of things there isn’t it, but I wonder how many of them you correctly worked out that I love or hate, and how many we have in common…scroll down to find out my answers…

  1. Hate
  2. Love
  3. Hate
  4. Hate
  5. Love
  6. Hate
  7. Hate
  8. Hate
  9. Hate
  10. Love…but hate for loving them!

So there you go, how many of my answers matched yours?

“Love” and “hate” are two very strong and very different emotions and if we are honest with ourselves I think we will probably find that rather than “loving” or “hating” the items I listed above, we really just “like” or “strongly dislike” them – Does that sound about right?.
