I’ve done a few Word Associations with you over the last while, and today it’s time for another one.

So as usual I’m going to throw some words at you, and I want you to note down the first word that comes into your mind when you read each word.

So here goes…

  1. App
  2. Tie
  3. Ears
  4. Mini
  5. Hole
  6. Cable
  7. Glass
  8. Card
  9. Slip
  10. Date

wordsSo how did you get on with those words? Did you find it easy? Did your answers surprise you or were they just as you expected?

Well here’s my responses to my questions:

  1. Phone
  2. Bow
  3. Big
  4. Car
  5. Dig
  6. Laptop
  7. Shatter

  9. Break
  10. Calendar

I still believe that when we respond with the first words that come into our minds, our answers tell us a lot about our emotional state, and what’s important to us at that particular point in time.

Bearing all this in mind, review your answers, does my theory hold true?

By the way, if you want me to explain any of my answers, just ask!

Imagine you had no constraints. i.e. Money is no issue, you have no time constraints, no responsibilities, no health issues. In other words you can go where you want, what you want, when you want. So what would you do, where would you go?

Would you go on holiday?

Perhaps you’d buy yourself a new car or a new house?

Maybe you’d learn to do something you’ve never had the time or the money to do before, such as learning to fly a plane?

Even if you have unlimited resources, it doesn’t mean they will last forever. So whether you have little money or lots of money, have lots of health concerns or as healthy as you could be, have family or work responsibilities or on your own and unemployed, we still need to look after what we have.

We need to take care of ourselves, our possessions, our friends and family, and make sure we use our time wisely.

Over the last few months I’ve done a number of posts called ‘Slogans’. Today it’s time for another one!

In my previous “Slogans” posts, I mentioned how we all see and hear many adverts on a daily basis via advertising hoardings or adverts on the radio, television  magazines and newspapers.

Today again I want to give you some more slogans to see how many of the companies/organisations associated with them you can identify from their slogans?

  1. Refreshes The Parts Other Beers Cannot Reach
  2. A hazelnut in every bite
  3. Has it changed your life yet?
  4. We are one
  5. You only get an ‘OO’ with…
  6. How do you eat yours
  7. Maybe She’s Born With It, Maybe It’s…
  8. Snap! Crackle! Pop!
  9. The power of cool
  10. The drive of your life

So that’s the slogans, how many do you think you know?

advertising

So here’s the answers…

  1. Heineken
  2. Topic
  3. Compaq
  4. Calvin Klein CK one
  5. Typhoo
  6. Cadbury’s crème egg
  7. Maybelline
  8. Kellogs Rice Crispies
  9. Davidoff Cool Water
  10. Peugeot

There were a few tricky ones in there, so if you got them all, well done!

I’ll be doing a few more of these in the coming weeks/months, so keep watching the adverts and remembering the slogans!

Over the last few months I’ve been walking around my local area quite a lot. While doing this, I have noticed, even when walking predominantly along the main roads, I have seen very few other people walking!

It doesn’t seem that long ago that when walking along those same streets, you would see a number of other people also walking. I guess it’s another sign of how dependent we all are on our cars or public transport, and just, dare I say it, how lazy many of us have become.

Yes it’s easy these days, when we’re so busy all the time, to jump in our car and drive for less than 5 minutes to our next location, rather than take a few additional minutes to just walk that short distant. At a time when we’re being told that obesity is a major contributory factor to serious health problems, should we not be walking between locations, rather than taking our car?

If we walk rather than drive, not only will it aid our own health, it will also be better for the environment, and our carbon footprint.

There are times when each of us find ourselves in need of help or rescuing, so we probably call one of the following:

  • Police
  • Ambulance or doctor
  • Fire brigade
  • Coastguard or lifeboat
  • Car breakdown service

We put our lives and our future in their hands, in the knowledge that they will do what is best for us.

When it comes to God we shouldn’t wait until we’re in trouble before we turn to Him, instead we should be letting Him rescue us before we even get into trouble.

This song by Rend Collective sums this up really well – here’s them singing Rescuer

There is good news for the captive, good news for the shamed
There is good news for the one who walked away
There is good news for the doubter, the one religion failed
For the Good Lord has come to seek and save

He’s our rescuer (Hey!)
He’s our rescuer (Hey!)
We are free from sin forevermore
Oh how sweet the sound (Hey!)
Oh how grace abounds (Hey!)
We will praise the Lord our rescuer (Hey!)

He is beauty for the blind man, riches for the poor
He is friendship for the one the world ignores
He is pasture for the weary, rest for those who strive
For the Good Lord is the way, the truth, the life
Yes the Good Lord is the way, the truth, the life (Hey!)

He’s our rescuer (Hey!)
He’s our rescuer (Hey!)
We are free from sin forevermore
Oh how sweet the sound (Hey!)
Oh how grace abounds (Hey!)
We will praise the Lord our rescuer (Hey!)

So come and be chainless
Come and be fearless
Come to the foot of Calvary
‘Cause there is redemption
For every affliction
Here at the foot of Calvary
So come and be chainless (Come and be chainless)
Come and be fearless (Come and be fearless)
Come to the foot of Calvary
‘Cause there is redemption
For every affliction (For every affliction)
Here at the foot of Calvary

Oh He’s our rescuer (Hey!)
He’s our rescuer (Hey!)
We are free from sin forevermore (We are free indeed)
Oh how sweet the sound (Hey!)
Oh how grace abounds (Hey!)
We will praise the Lord our rescuer
We will praise the Lord our rescuer (Hey!)

Grateful

I read this on a friend’s timeline on Facebook recently, and wanted to share it will you all

It’s very true isn’t, we get so caught up at time with all the latest technology, gadgets, cars etc, that we often can forget to be thankful for what we already possess.

There are so many people in this world who don’t even have a fraction of the possessions we have, yet still we want more. Maybe it’s time to give more to others rather than keep buying more and more for ourself.
