Matthew 11:28 (The Passion Translation)

“Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis.”

It can seem as if there’s no point carrying on when life gets difficult, but if we give all our worries and troubles to God and leave them there, we can be sure God will give us the strength to carry on.

So give God all your problems, and let Him give you all you need to make it through your storm.

Are you in pain?

Are you angry?

Are you anxious?

If you answered “Yes” to any or all of these questions, this next picture is just for you.

If you give your all to God, he can take away all your burdens, and help and guide you through each day.

Living in a time when every day the world seems to be more and more broken as hear about another conflict, or another natural disaster every day, can make us tired and downhearted.

Maybe it’s just as well we have the reassurance from God that He is all we need:

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. ~ Matthew 11:28-30

The above video contains some great advice, doesn’t it…

Are you tired
Worn out and empty
Is your soul weary

Have you tried
Releasing your burdens
Do you feel the weight
Of worry

I am the rest you need
I am the Prince of Peace
Enter the rest of God

Come to Me
Burdens will fly away
Walk with Me
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace

Come to Me
Burdens will fly away
Walk with Me
Learn the unforced rhythms
Live the unforced rhythms of grace

There are many of us who have proved that taking our all, our everything, burdens and cares to God and leaving them with Him, can reinvigorate our faith and our love of God.

So why not renew your spirit today by taking your all to God.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7 NIV)

We are reminded in the above scripture passage that no matter what situation we find ourselves in, we must pray.

It sounds so easy doesn’t it, whether going through some tough times or everything in your life is going great, spend time each day in prayer to God. Sadly though, when things get tough instead of turning to prayer as our first resort, we can often find ourselves spending less and less time in prayer.

We really do need to remind ourselves daily that “the peace of God…will guard your hearts and minds”, so why should we fear anything!

Is there a heart o’er-bound by sorrow?
Is there a life weighed down by care?
Come to the cross–each burden bearing,
All your anxiety–leave it there.

Refrain:
All your anxiety, all your care,
Bring to the mercy seat–leave it there;
Never a burden He cannot bear,
Never a friend like Jesus.

No other friend so keen to help you,
No other friend so quick to hear;
No other place to leave your burden,
No other one to hear your prayer.
Refrain:

Come then at once–delay no longer!
Heed His entreaty kind and sweet;
You need not fear a disappointment–
You shall find peace at the mercy seat.
Refrain:

Somebody

Does it matter who prays for you?

Of course it doesn’t matter who prays for you. The knowledge that somebody is praying for you is an awesome feeling, particularly during difficult times. What more could anyone do for you in your hour of need than take time in their busy life, to pray just for you!

When my heart was so broken that I could not pray,
When love wasn’t easy to see.
Someone was there, somebody cared,
Somebody prayed for me.

Somebody went to the throne of heaven,
Somebody lifted my name.
Bringing me into His holy presence,
Saying what I could not say.
Somebody showed me the face of His mercy,
When darkness was all I could see.
Somebody pleaded the Blood of Jesus,
Somebody prayed for me.

When the future looked hopeless and I’d given up,
When I had lost sight of my dreams
Somebody near, dried every tear,
Somebody prayed for me.

Somebody went to the throne of heaven,
Somebody lifted my name.
Bringing me into His holy presence,
Saying what I could not say.
Somebody showed me the face of His mercy,
When darkness was all I could see.
Somebody pleaded the Blood of Jesus,
Somebody prayed for me.

Somebody went to the throne of heaven,
Somebody lifted my name.
Bringing me into His holy presence,
Saying what I could not say.
Somebody showed me the face of His mercy,
When darkness was all I could see.
Somebody pleaded the Blood of Jesus,
Somebody prayed, Somebody prayed,
Somebody prayed, Somebody prayed,
Somebody prayed, Somebody prayed for me,
Somebody Prayed for me.

There are many of us who have proved that taking our all, our everything, burdens and cares to God and leaving them with Him, can reinvigorate our faith and our love of God. So why not renew your spirit today by taking your all to God.

What am I referring to?

Well I’m talking about your tears and your worries/burdens.

When times are tough don’t be afraid to shed a few tears, as I can honestly tell you, it will help. Even more importantly though, you must take all your worries, all your cares, all your burdens to Jesus, and leave them with Him. He will take all your burdens from you, lighten your load, and then help raise you up again.

Shed all your tears and all your burdens at the foot of the cross – Jesus will keep them and lighten your load.

1 Corinthians 10:12-14 (NIV)

So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

In the last few days I’ve spoken about how we must be faithful to God, but what we should never forget is that God is always faithful to us – He will never leave our side or forget about us, but more importantly He will never burden us with more than He knows we can cope with. Yes it might be tough for at times for us, but God knows just how many struggles/difficulties we can cope with at any time – After all He never expects us to cope on our own.

So if you’re feeling like you’ve too many burdens/problems to deal with at present, think again…have you taken them to God? God will never let you carry more than you can cope with, so take your problems/burdens to God, as He will be faithdul to you, and will lighten your load.

For Tomorrow

The past should be the past. It can destroy the future. Live life for what tomorrow has to offer, not for what yesterday has taken away.

Great advice, as often we can find ourselves fretting over things that have been said or done (or not said and done), when what we really should be doing is moving on.

I’m not saying that we should forget about things that happen in our past, no, I’m simply saying we should not let ourselves carry the burden of past problems with us, when we should learn from today, leave our burdens at the foot of the cross and live for what tomorrow will bring.

God will watch over every one of us. He alone knows exactly how we feel, and why we are holding onto our burdens, but he can give us the reassurance and peace that we need to allow us to leave our burdens at His feet, we just need to trust God.
