We all have things which annoy us, some trivial, some quite serious. So today I want to share with you some of the trivial things that annoy me…they’re listed in no particular order:

  1. Not being able to get a doctor’s appointment when you need one
  2. People who make out that they are you best friend in public, but in private are the first to ‘stab you in the back’
  3. Delivery drivers who, after delivering something to your house, don’t bother to shut your gate
  4. People who leave dirty dishes in the sink
  5. People who are always late

Do any of these annoyances sound familiar to you?

Yes, all the above things annoy me, but most of time I manage to stay quiet when they happen and just observe and say or do nothing as I know it’s just me being me!

clockEver find that you are too busy to spend some quiet time with God?

Why do we not have time for God?

Could it be because we’re too busy doing our own thing rather than doing what God wants us to do? Could it be we make so much “noise” doing our own thing that we can’t hear God talking to us?

Our friends wouldn’t be too happy if we always expected them to be there for us, but we were never there for them in return. God is no different in that He wants us to spend time with Him, listening to Him, just as we expect Him to be there for us when we need Him.

So don’t be too busy to talk to God, and more importantly, don’t be so busy that you stop listening to what God is saying to you.

When others don’t treat us the way we want to be treated, we can often make the assumption that it’s all the other person’s fault. However Nicky Gumble points out that we can often be the cause of the problem ourselves!:

If you want to change the way people respond to you, change the way you respond to people

So the bottom line is, if people aren’t treating you right, take a step back and look at yourself, because it may be that you’re the root of the problem!

look at yourself

When we hold something that is precious to us, we hold it firmly so that we don’t let go.

God considers each of us precious to Him, and that’s why in Isaiah 41 we read:

I, your God, have a firm grip on you and I’m not letting go. I’m telling you, Don’t panic. I’m right here to help you. (The Message)

God loves us so much that he keeps hold of us so that he is always there to help us and to guide us.

So don’t panic, God is holding you firmly in His grasp.

DebtYesterday, I spoke about how we live in a world where debt is prevalent in our communities (A World In Debt). But today I want you to think about any debt you personally might have…

Any other debts you can think of?

There’s one other debt I can think of, and it’s not a monetary one, my debt to Christ for giving his life for me at Calvary, just so I personally could be forgiven of all my sins.

Have you acknowledged you debt to Christ for dying on a cross for you?

Why not repay your debt to Christ today, by giving your life, your all to Him.

It’s All Because of Jesus I’m alive
