You may have realised by now if you’ve been following my blog for any amount of time, that I love music and I have a lot of favourite songs. I make no apology for sharing so many of my favourite songs with you because I feel that if they can touch my heart, they are just as likely to touch your heart too…and when Christ is involved you never know what that may lead to!

Yesterday in Only Christ I shared with you another of my favourite song, In Christ Alone. There are some specific words from this song that touch me whenever I hear or sing this them…

What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand

And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

and my favourite words of all…

No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
‘Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand

This is one of my favourite songs because it reminds me always that everything I have and everything I am is all because of Christ, and Christ alone.

Is your trust firmly in Christ, and Christ alone?

If you want to change the world, there is only one place to start – with yourself ~ Nicky Gumble

So don’t go try to change everyone else, have a look at yourself, your life, your values, your actions…are they what they should be?

When we are more like Christ, others will see Christ in us, and that’s when we can change others. So change yourself before you tackle the world!

Christ In Me
Christ of Glory, Prince of Peace
Let thy life in mine increase
Though I live may it be shown
Tis thy life and not my own
Dwell within that men may see
Christ in me
Christ the living Christ in me
Answer now my soul’s desire
Purge my heart with holy fire
Soothe the hurt with gentle balm
Breathe within my life thy charm
Fill me now so shall there be
Christ in me
Christ the holy Christ in me
Gracious Lord thy grace apply
Both to save and sanctify
All my life wilt thou control
Calmly ordering the whole
That the world my ever see
Christ in me
Christ and only Christ
Christ and only Christ
Christ and only Christ in me
Christ and only Christ in me

I know I used the above song in yesterday’s blog post (Image – Part 4 of 4), however I make no apologies for using it again today. I think the words of this song are ones which maybe we all need to pray far more often than we actually do.

Colossians 1:27 (The Message)

Christ is in you, so therefore you can look forward to sharing in God‘s glory

As I listened to the above song when I was writing yesterday’s blog post a whole load of memories can flooding back to me – When I was songster leader at Rutherglen Salvation Army, this was one of the songs I used to lead them in, and it was one of my favourites. It was one of those songs, of which I’ve found only a few over the years, that when we sang it it made the hairs on the back on my neck stand up and send a shiver down my spine…I believe that was because Christ was with us, and speak to me through that song.

It is quite a challenge isn’t it, ensuring other see Christ in us?

Is Christ the only one that others can see in you?

My honest answer would have to be that many times it is not Christ people will see in me.

However I pray that as I continue to recognise my failings and weaknesses, and let God into more of my life, He will continue to strengthen me and calmly order my life so that the world my only see Christ in me.

I pray you too may continue to grow in Christ so that other will see Christ in you.

Sometimes I think that we should keep Sunday’s special, however most of the time, I must be honest, I see no reason why we must keep Sunday’s “special”.

My first question to you is this, what do we actually mean when we say “keep Sunday’s special”? Special in what way?

If we mean that we should keep Sunday’s sacred, I would want to know why we are singling out Sunday’s to be sacred – Shouldn’t every day be sacred!

As Christians God expects us to act in a Christ-like manner every day, and to do our best to be more and more like Christ in everything we do. Therefore that’s a 27/4 job, not just a job for one day a week, a Sunday.

Maybe part of the reason why some think we should keep Sunday’s special is because they see less and less folk acting like Christ each day, so feel there should be one day every week that we focus on Christ. i.e. a Sunday. But for me, that actually is the best reason why we shouldn’t keep Sunday’s special. i.e. If people are struggling to see Christ in their everyday lives, isn’t that the best reason we could possibly have to show them more of Christ everyday.

In conclusion, I don’t think there is any need to keep Sunday’s special, because I truly believe every day in God’s presence is a special day for me…and it can be for you too!

Identity thieves try to steal other people’s identities…Christ tries to steal our heart.

Christ wants us to be more like like Him, but that doesn’t mean we should steal His idenity. Far from it, we will never be identical to Christ as we are human and as such we can never be perfect. However we can, through His help do all we can to be more and more like Him.

Identity thieves pretend to be someone they are not…To be a true Christian we must be like Christ, not just pretend to be a Christian.

Sometimes I think we all need to all remind ourselves that we should all be trying to be more and more like Christ. After all as a Christian, wouldn’t it be the ultimate compliment if others can see Christ in us!

When others look at you, can they see Christ or do you need to take on more of Christ’s identity?
