It may seem at times that God has forgotten us, but he hasn’t

Your plans are still to prosper
You have not forgotten us
You’re with us in the fire and the flood
You’re faithful forever
Perfect in love
You are sovereign over us

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. ~ Deuteronomy 31:6

Everyone struggles with loneliness at some point. Whether you are going through something hard that you don’t think anyone else understands or you are facing a change in life where you just feel alone, God’s Word provides hope and strength. There is someone who is closer than a brother and is always with You – Jesus Christ is our friend and comforter!

This is backed up by what we’re told in the bible. In Deuteronomy 31:6 we read:

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Words of comfort, words to reassure us of God’s presence, even when we feel everyone has deserted us.

Who do you stand up for? Yourself, your beliefs, your friends and family?

I hope you stand up for yourself, but I also hope you stand up for your friends and family, your beliefs, and also those you don’t know, but who are being mistreated.

Strong people stand up for themselves, but stronger people stand up for others. ~ Nicky Gumbel

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. ~ Deuteronomy 31:7 (NIV)

If ever we need a reminder that God has promised to love us always, we can find it in Deuteronomy 7:9 (NIV)

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.

The question is, are you repaying God’s faith in you by loving Him?

When life gets stormy, don’t curse the storm. Instead take advantage of the storm to test your resolve and challenge your own strength, because it’s through grace that we can survive the storm.

In Deuteronomy 31:6 (ESV) we are told:

Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.

Reassurance

Isn’t that the most reassuring statement you’ve ever heard! It certainly is for me – That is why whenever I having a tough time, I turn to my bible and I read these words, because they offer me comfort and reassurance even when there seems no hope.

Ann Voskamp wrote the following. As you read these words, hear God speaking to you, and let His words give you peace and comfort with whatever you have to deal with in your life right now:

Lord, be with those aching tonight in ways no one knows.

Let them feel it, Your presence gently touching the aloneness that has barnacled itself to hidden places, Your words so close they feel the warmth of You on their face: “I am for you. I won’t let you go. I’ll show up & take care of you as I promised… I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.” (Jer.29:11 MSG, Ex. 36:9, Deu 31:6)

Let the weary who need to hear You, feel it tonight in the tiredness of their bones — the leeching loneliness falling straight away and the gentle strength of comforting arms drawing them up and into that resting embrace of grace.

In the name of the only One who has ever loved us to death & back to the realest & forever life, In Gentle Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Here’s the International Staff Songsters of the Salvation Army singing Rest:

Do you believe things happen just by chance or do you think they have been pre planned?

If we believe in God, we must believe that He goes before us in all we do, and therefore everything that happens has been pre planned.

It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. ~ Deuteronomy 31:8

So if God goes before us, what have we to fear? He has promised never to abandon us but to stay with us always. Therefore even I situations or circumstances where we feel frightened, alone or worried, there’s no need, because God is with us, and will support us and give us the strength and guidance we need.

Deuteronomy 31:6 – Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.

As you can see from the above bible verse, God has promised to stay with you always. We all have family and/or friends who tell us they will always be there for us, but can you 100% rely on them?

You’ll probably say that they will, however from personal experience I can tell you that it’s only in times of extreme trouble when you really need someone, that you will really find out whether those family members and/or friends will really always be there for you.

I pray today that you will always, in every situation, rely totally on God and not be overly dependent on family and friends because at the end of the day, they are only human, and therefore are not perfect and will fail sometimes.

When you see someone in need what do you do?

Do you walk past pretending you didn’t see them, or do you stop and try to help?

Deuteronomy 15:10-11 (The Message)

Give freely and spontaneously. Don’t have a stingy heart. The way you handle matters like this triggers God, your God’s, blessing in everything you do, all your work and ventures. There are always going to be poor and needy people among you. So I command you: Always be generous, open purse and hands, give to your neighbours in trouble, your poor and hurting neighbours.

If you see someone in need, take a few minutes out to go to them, speak to them, comfort them, give them nourishment, and pray for them. God expects us to show compassion for our fellow humans. That doesn’t mean just in monetary terms, because there are many needy people out there for whom money is not the thing they are most in need of.

I personally think that one of the main thing the people in this world are crying out for is love and compassion. Therefore let’s spread some compassion wherever we go, and let’s make a point of stopping to help those we see in need, rather than walking past.
