This last week I’ve been talking about healing, and how God can heal us. However God’s healing is not just about healing our physical and emotional scars, it’s about healing our heart.

How can we ever hope to truly move on with our life and accept the situations we find ourselves in if we don’t allow God to heal our heart?

It’s even deeper than just our heart God wants to heal…it’s our whole life. We can never truly be healed if we don’t let God into every part of our life.

Dear Lord, I pray today that you may help each of us to give the whole of our lives to you, so that you might heal all our wounds. By helping heal our wounds, I know you will make us stronger as people, but more importantly, as Christians. So Lord, heal us and use us to help guide others to you so that they too might find healing. Amen

The last few days I’ve been talking about healing, and how God can heal us.

Psalm 147:2-4 (NIV)

The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars    and calls them each by name.

When we’re ill or unwell, we rely on doctors and other medical professionals to determine what’s wrong with us, and make us better. However sometimes even the experiences medical professionals are unable to find a cause of the illness or maybe they’re unable to cure you, what then? We pray for healing!

That does not mean that we should pray for healing only as a last resort. Far from it, we should pray to God for healing even when we’re first unwell. All our prayers to God should not be a “last resort”, they should be because we have faith in God during all of life’s events, and trust that whatever situation we find ourself in, God will provide for us.

No matter what “wounds” we may have, God can help heal them, physical or emotional, recent or long-standing, so take all your wounds to Him in prayer.

I believe you are my healer

I believe you are all I need

When you’re ill, have a disease, or unwell, it can be really difficult to believe that God can heal you physically. But He can, and He will!

If we believe God is capable of great things, that He is capable of healing us, that He is all we need…He will be all we need.

Trust Him!

Ever felt like you’ve no strength left to carry on? I’ve felt a bit like that recently. All those close to me need me more than ever at present, and I feel like I’ve nothing left to give them. Unfortunately they are also the ones who usually support me, so life’s tough at present.

However it’s made more bearable in the knowledge that God is there for me, and I just need to let His healing waters wash over me.

I pray that when you find life tough, you too will be comforted by the knowledge that God will be there for you.

Healing Waters by Michelle Tumes

I’ve built a bridge
All of my strength cannot cross over
I stand at the edge
The end of a road that I have followed
Sinking from the weight of my own world
Wanting the waves of Your ways to wash my feet

[Chorus]
Healing waters
Healing waters
Solace flows through the river of forgiveness to my soul
Oh, I need
You Healing waters

Pour over me water to clean all my intentions
Baptizing streams
I swim in the freedom of redemption
Floating on the sea of purity
Knowing I can dive in the love that rescues me

[Chorus]

Memories are raging high
Floods so deep they touch the sky
All the things I’ve done to You
All the parts of a life untrue
Healing comes from outstretched hands
Saving me from what I am
Carry me
Carry me

Blessings by Laura Story

We pray for blessings, we pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering

All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things

Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops?
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near?

What if trials of this life
Are Your mercies in disguise?

We pray for wisdom, Your voice to hear
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough

And all the while You hear each desperate plea
And long that we’d have faith to believe

Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears?
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near?

And what if trials of this life
Are Your mercies in disguise

When friends betray us, when darkness seems to win
We know the pain reminds this heart
That this is not, this is not our home
It’s not our home

Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears?
And what if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near?

What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst
This world can’t satisfy?

And what if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are Your mercies in disguise?

I was first directed to this song a couple of days ago by a friend, and from the moment I read the words and then listened to the music I loved it…the music so sensitively reinforces the message given by the words.

Here’s a few of my favourite bits and my reasons:

What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near?

These lines remind me that although it may sometimes feel as though God seems far away and forgotten about me, He is still there. It may just be God’s plan that we go through some tough times for what may seem like an eternity to us.

We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough

As with the first of my favourite lines, this section reminds us of the times when we doubt whether God is still there for us, and His love for us. In the bible, God has promised to love us forever, so these words remind us of this promise which should be all we need.

And all the while You hear each desperate plea
And long that we’d have faith to believe

And best of all, are the above words, where we’re reminded that God does hear all our prayers, all our pleading…all we have to do is believe in Him, always.
