Posts Tagged ‘future’

In yesterday’s blog post (New world), I spoke about how God has our future under control, because He’s already planned our future.

But how to reach that new world, that future place? If we trust God, he will direct and guide us along the path he has planned for us. As we follow God’s plan for our lives, we need to share God’s message of love and hope for tomorrow, with those we come into contact with. If we each do that, more people will hear and see God’s message in action, and hopefully feel God’s presence in their lives. The more who accept God as Lord, the better place this world will become.

So help God make this world a new and better world to live in, by sharing your story, and sharing your faith with others.

I’ve found myself using the phrase, ‘In the new world’, quite frequently in the last few weeks. There’s a lot of change going on in life just now so trying to accept and prepare for how things may be in the future, hence my ‘in the new world’ phrase, can be difficult.

That’s why I’m very grateful for God’s presence in my life in these days. As although life ‘In the new world’ and what that may mean for me, is still very uncertain, I do feel reassured that God has my future under control, because I know he has already planned my future.

If we trust in God, whatever our ‘new world’ or future holds, we can be assured that we are in His hands.

Sorted!

Sometimes our lives be turned upside down by events or circumstances. That’s when we often question our future, and question whether God is still there.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

The good news is, as long as we don’t try and do everything our own, but instead trust God, He will guide and direct us. In other words, our future will be sorted out by God.

We’ve all heard people give examples of situations and events and say, “When your life depends on it”. But have you ever considered the phrase “when your death depends on it”?

For me when it comes to death, I am sure that if you have given your heart and your all to God, you can be assured of eternal life with God. Therefore, when we die our future depends on the decisions and promises we made during our life.

I therefore urge you to make sure you decide your future long before you die, by giving your all to God today.

Too late

Are you a person who is always very early for every event, or are you always running about at the last minute to get there just in time?

There are some things in life that it doesn’t really matter whether you get there on time or not, such as:

  • shopping
  • parties
  • meetings
  • lunch or dinner dates
  • bus or train

You may not agree with some of those things, but really does it matter if you’re late for them. i.e. is it a matter of life or death?

Speaking of life or death, there are some life events that you probably don’t want to be late for:

  • birth of your child
  • death of a love one

It’s not the end of the world if you do miss these events, but if for example you aren’t with a loved one when they die it can be difficult to forgive yourself for not being there for them, and for you when they most needed you.

There is one other life or death situation we must not be late for, and that’s giving your heart and your all to God. If we’re too late at doing this, i.e. we die before we get round to accepting Him as our Lord and Saviour, it’s too late, our future has been decided.

Nothing we say or do in life can take us out of God’s reach. He has plans for each one of us – those plans may include people and situations we never expected, it may also exclude people or places we thought would be part of our life forever.

When we accept God as our saviour, God will make sure our life will follow the plan he has made for us, whatever and wherever that may take us.

Have you ever stopped for a minute and wondered, what would I be grateful for next week, next month or next year?

Maybe you haven’t ever wondered that but, I bet you are now!

So today I urge you to not only have a think about what you could do today that will benefit you in the future, but also do it!

Good luck!

When you’re at your lowest, what raises your spirits and helps you see a future you want to be part of?

For me, when I’ve been at my lowest I had someone who gave me the strength and reassurance to get me through.

Philippians 3:13 (NLT)

I am focusing on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.

Sometimes it can be hard to forget things or situations that have happened in the past, especially if we’ve been physically or emotionally hurt. That’s why it makes complete sense that in Philippians we’re told to forget the past and simply focus on the future.

We all worry sometimes, we’re only human.

But does worrying actually achieve anything? The only thing achieved by worrying is stress, as worrying never actually changes anything does it?

Even although we know worry doesn’t change anything, we still worry, but we are only human.

Even although we know God is with us every step of the way, it can still be hard not to worry sometimes, but we are only human.

Take all your worries, all your anxieties to God, and leave them there. God can take care of them and you!
