There is a prayer I say today and every day

I’m better at some of those things than others, but with God’s help, I know I can become better at all of them. I pray God will give each of those qualities so that we may help those around us who need to know God’s love.

Which of life’s virtues do you think are important? Which is the most beautiful?

For me humility is the most beautiful virtue we can develop.

Andrew Murray once said:

Humility is perfect quietness of heart. It is to expect nothing, to wonder at nothing that is done to me, to feel nothing done against me. It is to be at rest when nobody praises me, and when I am blamed or despised. It is to have a blessed home in the Lord, where I can go in and shut the door, and kneel to my Father in secret, and am at peace in a deep-sea of calmness, when all around and above is trouble.

So have I achieved the virtue of humility? No!

Am I still trying to achieve humility? Yes

What am I doing to try to achieve humility? I’m praying for humility

Please join me in prayer today so that we can all achieve humility, one of the most beautiful virtues anyone can have.

I get fed up at times when people I try to be pleasant and nice to, just ignore and/or hurt me. This world can be tough at times, and the people in this world can be even tougher and sometimes even hateful.

John 15:18-19 (NIV)

If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.

If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.

In the above verses from John, Jesus reminds us that it’s because we are different from the rest of the world, because we follow Him, that the world does not accept. However this should not worry or upset us, because God has called us, and chosen us to be His disciples, to be His witnesses in this world full of hatred.

So don’t yearn to be accepted by the world, because ultimately to be God’s witnesses we must be different, we must be Christlike in all we do.

How can I stand beneath the breath of God and not be humbled?
How can I stand in God’s presence and not be moved?
God, you are truly amazing!

Are those words true for you? For me I can sometimes get caught up with the things of life itself and forget just how truly amazing and wonderful God is, however it doesn’t mean that I forget about God.

God is part of my life. He always will be because I have acknowledged His presence in my life and am truly humbled by all He has done for me and continues to do for me on a daily basis.

Humble King by Benton Brown

Oh kneel me down a-gain
here at Your feet
Show me how much You love humility
Oh Spirit be the star that leads me to
The humble heart of love I see in You

CHORUS:

You are the God of the broken
The friend of the weak
You wash the feet of the weary
Embrace the ones in need
I want to be like You, Jesus
To have this heart in me
You are the God of the humble
You are the humble King
