So today I want you to think about everything you say and everything you do. It may seem like a ridiculous requests as everyday we each say thousands of words and do  many things, but there is a reason…sometimes we can be guilty of just jumping in and saying or doing something without thinking about how our words or actions will make others feel or impact their lives.

So today, just think before you say or do anything, and if your answer to any of the following questions is ‘No’, reconsider what you were about to say or do.

We often complain about how busy we all are, and how quickly we all go through each day. However one benefit of living in these times is our unlimited access to information – Mind you sometimes we hear information that we wish we didn’t, such as terror attacks, murders, natural disasters etc.

With access to so much information, there are always ways for us to expand our knowledge. Whether it’s gait a subject, topic or hobby that you are interested in, learning new things can help you improve your enthusiasm for life while still improving your own skills and knowledge.

So keep learning, and keep growing!

I came across the following quote recently

didnt-give-up

Can you imagine what it would be like for someone to utter those words to you, “Because of you I didn’t give up”? That must be an amazing feeling.

However nice it would be for someone to say those words to me, I do not live my life to get accolades or praise from others. I therefore hope that whatever I do in my life, I may do it in such a way that I may inspire someone else to live their life to the full.

How about you, are you living your life to the full?

Powerful

What kind of person does that conjure in your head? Someone strong and muscular, a leader, someone knowledgeable?

If I said to you I was using the word powerful in the context of a testimony, would this change your thoughts on the kind of person being described by this word? Maybe Christian, caring, loving, inspirational, to name but a few?

We may go to church every week, and in doing so tell ourselves that is our testimony that we serve Christ, however as the following picture states, our testimony is really who we are the rest of the time when we’re not at church, isn’t it!

dont-just-talk-about-christ-be-like-christ-the-world-needs-less-christians-talking-about-their-faith-and-more-people-living-out-daily-in-front-of-them

Is your testimony after the church service has finished each week, the testimony you want it to be?

Is it the testimony God wants you to be?

Are you looking for simple ways to encourage your heart and nourish your soul?

In the last while I’ve given you some ideas which will hopefully inspire you to implement them in your own life, and over the coming weeks I’ll share some others with you.

So here’s today’s suggestion:

Share your inspiration

Is there someone in your life you has inspired you? Take a few minutes today to tell them how much they have inspired you as they may not realise how much they have influenced you. In doing so you will brighten their day as well as yours.

Write

Someone once told me that there is a writer in all of us, and if I’m honest I really didn’t believe them because after all, how could I write a book! It turned out that they didn’t actually mean every one of us could write a book or a novel, but maybe we could all write a blog, a short story, lyrics for a song etc.

So today I want you to think about what you could write? Are you the type of person who finds it easier to communicate in writing rather than verbally or face to face? Perhaps you’ve already had some thoughts about “if you wrote a book or a blog or poetry, it would contain…”.

So what’s stopping you writing? You’ll never know whether others want to hear (read) what you have to say if you never write your thoughts down. Something you have to say may just touch one person and inspire them, and wouldn’t that make your writing worthwhile? So write your thoughts because in doing so you’ll get a sense of achievement in actually getting your thoughts down on paper (even if it is electronic paper!) and that in turn will brighten your day.

Yesterday in Inspiration I spoke about what, or should I say, who, inspires and guides me in every situation I find myself in. But today I want you to think about who inspires you.

It’s good to be inspired, and it’s good to have someone who inspires you, so don’t be afraid to be inspired to do great things!

Sometimes I put myself under pressure to write a blog post every day, and that’s when I find it difficult to know what to write about…then I feel under more pressure…and then I struggle even more to know what to write about…

That’s when I stop myself, and remind myself that I have the greatest inspiration anyone could ever wish for, God!

I know my blog posts aren’t always about God, however He is always part of my life, at the centre, and therefore whenever I need inspiration for a blog post, or for advice on a life situation, I know I can rely on God to guide and direct me.

I lift up my eyes to the hills…
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
Psalm 121:1-2

Happy blogging!

This last week I’ve been haunted (in the nicest possible way) by the melody and words of the song He Had To Hold To Calvary, which I posted in my blog last Friday, Good Friday, entitled Easter…He Had To Do It.

That song along with an image of Christ’s bloodied body hanging on a cross had been constantly in my mind this week. The knowledge of Christ’s death on the cross and why it happened have been things I’ve known for many years, so why am I struggling to free myself of the words of this song and the associated images this year?

Hold on – Why am I expecting to rid my mind of these images/words? Easter may just come round once a year, but the consequences of that first Easter are everlasting. I shouldn’t be trying to rid myself of these images/words, but embrace them for what they signify, after all they represent everything I believe in as a Christian – Christ died on a cross a Calvary so I could be free. So I could be free from sin and have everlasting life.

I have realised that I’m not haunted by the images/words/music from Easter, but am in fact reminding myself daily just how much God gave up for me on that very first Easter.

Just because Easter is now in the past this year, don’t forget the significance of Easter.

Here’s that video I referred to of Garry Druery singing He Had To Hold To Calvary – I hope this inspires you to always remember the true meaning of Easter:

He Had To Hold To Calvary by Garry Druery
He could have left that cross that day
To feed the hungry who were there
He could have wiped the children’s’ tears away
To show them He still cared
He could have once again reached out His hand
To give sight to the blind
He could have kissed His mother one more time

But He had to hold to Calvary
To ever hold to me
He could not free himself and set me free
He had to surrender
To win my victory
He could not save himself and save me

He could have proven to Jerusalem
That He truly was God’s son
He could have shown those who scorned Him
That He was the mighty one
He could have grieved the crown and filled the sky
With angels to set Him free
He could have walked away from Calvary

But He had to hold to Calvary
To ever hold to me
He could not free himself and set me free
He had to surrender
To win my victory
He could not save himself and save me

But He had to hold to Calvary
To ever hold to me
He could not free himself and set me free
He had to surrender
To win my victory
He could not save himself and save me
He had to surrender
To win my victory
He could not save himself
He could have walked away from Calvary
He could not save himself and save me
