God directs us and guides us through His message to us in the Bible, so now we must apply our learning to our lives:

Apply It

The whole point of the bible is so that we learn how we should act, so do it! Apply what you learn in the bible to your life, so that you live the kind of life God has instructed us to live.

James 1:22 (NIV)

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says

Do It

John 17:17 (NLT)

Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.

Not only does the bible teach us how we should act, it also teach us what God wants us to be. Through reading the bible we will learn what it means to walk with God. i.e. What out live will be like when we accept God into our life.

As we read the bible more and more, we will come to understand more and more of what God is teaching us, and what he wants us to do with our life.

Reject It

As Christians we can encounter many people who have an opinion on whether God exists and whether the bible is fact or fiction. But we must not let those who have a different option from ourselves distract us from God message to us.

Proverbs 19:27 (NIV)

Stop listening to instruction, my son, and you will stray from the words of knowledge.

No matter what people say to us about the bible, compare it to what is actually written in the bible. If what they say about the bible is not true, tell them so – tell them that your beliefs are different from theirs. This isn’t always easy but if you let them think you believe what they say, they will continue to tell you untruths about the bible.

Jesus said that there would be many false prophets in the latter days, and this is all the more reason why we should continue to study the Bible regularly because the more time we spend reading it the more we will learn about God, and the more we learn about God the easier it will be for us to stand up against those who tell falsehoods about the bible and about God.

Believe! Be strong! You can do God’s will!

Matthew 25:21 (NIV)
“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
If today was the last day you spent on this earth, would you be confident that when you come face to face with Jesus He will say “Well done”?

Last Day on Earth – Steven Curtin Chapman

I pull over the side of the road and I
Watch the cars pass me by
The headlights and the black limousines tell me
Someone is saying goodbye
I bow my head and I whisper a prayer, “Father,
Comfort their broken hearts”
And as I drive away there’s a thought that I
I cannot escape, no I, I cannot escape this thought
I can’t get away

Oh, if this should be my last day on this earth
How then shall I live
Oh, if this should be the last day that I have
Before I breathe the air of Heaven
Let me live it with abandon to
The only thing that remains
After my last day here on earth

If this should be my last day here on earth
If this should be my last day here on earth
If this should be my last, last day here on earth

And if tomorrow comes to find me
Looking in the face of Jesus
Will I hear Him say the words “well done” ?

If this should be my last day here on earth
If this should be my last, my last day here on earth
‘Cause this could be my last, this could be my last
This could be my last day

Live everyday as it it were your last day on earth. Don’t put of until tomorrow what you could do today, as you may not have a tomorrow. A bit of a morbid thought I know, but like my post yesterday (“His Provision“), I just want you to consider your life, how you are leading your life and whether it is acceptable and pleasing to God.

If God is asking you to do something, say “Yes” today – If He didn’t want you to do it until tomorrow He would have asked you today!

Treat everyone as if it’s the last time you’ll see/speak to them, tell your friends and family how much you love them, you may not get another chance.

James 4:14 (NIV)
Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

Purify

In order for God to work in our lives, we must ask him to do so. We must reject all things the Devil puts in our way to stop us from doing God’s will.

We must ask God to purify our heart.

James 4:7-10 (The Message)
So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet.

The following video is of a fantastic song called Purified by Michael W Smith, which explains how if we give control of our life to God, he will purify us from within.

Purified (by Michael W Smith)

Where the angels see
You are praised as You should be.
But how can I express
My yearning for Your Holiness.
May it be (that)

I will open UP my heart
Search me in the deepest part.
And I will stand in cleansing fire,
By You, purified,
By You I’m purified.

Saviour of my soul
To your strength I yield control.
Purge me from my stain
Sin will lose it’s mortal reign.
Make me free (and)

I will open UP my heart
Search me in the deepest part.
And I will stand in cleansing fire,
By You, purified,
By You I’m purified.

You are Holy
You are Holy
Yes You are Holy
You are Holy
You are Holy
Holy

And I will open my heart
Search me in the deepest part.
And I will stand in cleansing fire,
By You, purified,
By You I’m purified.
I’m purified for you.

You are Holy
You are Holy
Yes You are Holy
You are Holy

Give your heart to Jesus today and let him purify you.
