Are you a morning person? I’m not – never have been, and never likely to be!

So when I hear others talking about feeling energized in the mornings, it just seems an alien concept to me. So when I came across the following picture, it got me thinking, am I not starting my day right?

Energize-Your-Heart-Soul-and-Mind-by-Starting-Your-Day-with-Jesus

Consider now how you start your day – Are you starting your day with Jesus?

Are you looking for simple ways to encourage your heart and nourish your soul?

In the last while I’ve given you some ideas which will hopefully inspire you to implement them in your own life, and over the coming weeks I’ll share some others with you.

So here’s today’s suggestion:

Take hold of your negative thoughts

Have you noticed how destructive negative thoughts and negative thinking can be, they can be like a cancer, eating away at you, making you focus on things that you would normal consider unchristlike. So when you find yourself giving negative thoughts time in your life, stop yourself and put those thoughts out your mind by thinking positive thoughts.

Replace your negative thoughts with uplifting thoughts that bring you comfort and peace.

Thoughts of You by Barlowgirl

Thoughts of You
And how You’ve changed me, fill my mind
Without You where would I be?

So even though I’ve tried to express my thanks
It never comes out how I hoped
I want to say so much more
So with these simple words, I’ll try

I love You
My heart is Yours, only Yours
I long to give You all of me
My everything, my everything

God, I never could repay You
You gave everything
Without You where would I be?

You still loved me even when I
Pushed You away
You stood there and waited
Till the day I’d return

So even though I’ve tried to express my thanks
It never comes out
I want to say so much more
So with these simple words, I’ll try

I love You
My heart is Yours, only Yours Jesus
I want to give You all of me

I love You, I love You
My, my heart is Yours, only Yours
I long to give You all of me
My everything, my everything

Thoughts of You
And how You’ve changed me, fill my mind

I’ve done a few Word Associations with you in the past, and last Saturday I did the first of these for a wee while, so I thought I’d do another one today. When you read each word, please note down the first word that comes into your mind when you read each word – Don’t take time to think about your answer, as it’s your initial response that’s important here.

So here goes…

1. Glasgowpower-of-words

2. Money

3. Frightened

4. The armed forces

5. Video

6. Shopping

7. Water

8. Arthritis

9. Child abuse

10. Language

So how did you get on with those words? Did you find it easy? Did your answers surprise you or were they just as you expected?

Well here’s my responses to my questions:

1. Home

2. Bank

3. Scared

4. War

5. DVD

6. Chore

7. Swimming

8. Pain

9. Criminal

10. English

Were any of your answers the same as mine? Did any of my answers confuse you? Did any of your own answers confuse you?

I’ve said in previous word association posts that I find I get a bit stressed when I’m doing these, as I put a lot of pressure on myself not to over think my answers! Are you relaxed when you do them or do you find it stressful too?

I still believe that when we respond with the first words that come into our minds, our answers tell us a lot about our emotional state, and what’s important to us at that particular point in time.

Bearing all this in mind, review your answers, does my theory hold true?

I sometimes just pick some really random words and just try this myself just to see what my answers are – I know that really does sound sad, but I often find it illuminating to discover what is occupying my subconscious…I’d urge you to try it out for yourself.

I’ve done a few Word Associations with you in the past. God_Loves YouFor the last few weeks I’ve found the following chorus has been going through my mind, and I’ve even found myself humming it…

Come, great Spirit, come.
Make each heart they home;
Enter every longing soul;
Come great Spirit, come.

I wasn’t entirely sure why this chorus has been in my mind lately, as it’s never been one that been particular special to me. However I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s been on my mind a lot because I’ve been struggling somewhat with a number of things in the last few weeks, and this is His way of reminding me that whenever I’m struggling, He is there for me, I just need to ask Him to help.

If you haven’t let God into your heart, say to him today, “Come, great spirit come, make my heart thy home“.

It’s not that I’ve not got a lot of things going through my mind, because I have! In fact I’d go as far as saying I’ve probably got too many things going round in my head at present!

Just because I don’t feel like talking to anyone doesn’t mean God isn’t listening to my silence. Remember God knows what’s in our mind and in our hearts even if we’re not really or willing to talk about them to anyone including him!

I’ve done a few Word Associations with you over the last few months, so today I’m going to give you another one. So as usual I’m going to throw some words at you  and I want you to note down the first word that comes into your mind when you read each word.

I still agree with what I’ve said in previous Word Association posts, that I think when we truly do respond with the first words that come into our mind, our answers tell us a lot about what’s on our emotional state, and what’s important to us at that time.

Bearing all this in mind, review your answers, does my theory hold true?

As I said before when I posted my first Word Association blog post, I sometimes just pick some really random words and just try this myself just to see what my answers are – I know that sounds really sad, but I often find it illuminating to discover what is occupying my subconscious…I’d urge you to try it out for yourself.

I think when we do that our answers, tell us a lot about what’s on our mind, and what’s important to us. So bearing this in mind, review your answers, does my theory hold true?

As I said before when I posted my first Word Association blog post, I sometimes just pick some really random words and just try this myself just to see what my answers are – I know that still sounds really sad, but I often find it illuminating to discover what is occupying my subconscious…I’d urge you to try it out for yourself.
