I’m sure having read the title of this post you’ve already had a dark depressing image come into you mind. So just to be sure you image is what I want, here’s the full phrase

Dark and cheerless is the morn

Dark heavy black skies, rain, thunder, windy… all words that come to my mind on reading those words.

But I’m sure your image will change when I tell you the next part of the phrase

Dark and cheerless is the morn unaccompanied by Thee

Wow, the image is so much brighter now isn’t it? By adding one line to the words, the image is so much brighter. Similarly, our lives may be difficult and stressful, however by adding one thing, God, our life, although it may not be any less stressful or difficult, will be easier because God will walk beside us through everything life throws our way.

Without God in our life, our lives may well be “dark and cheerless”, so let God brighten your life by being the centre of your life.

During my wandering through the internet over the last while, I’ve come across a lot of statements and quotes about relationships. So today I’d like to share with you some of those I particularly liked:

  1.  i-love-youIn life you’ll realize there is a purpose for everyone you meet.  Some will test you, some will use you, and some will teach you. But most importantly, some will bring out the best in you.
  2. Keep the people in your life who truly love you, motivate you, encourage you, enhance you, and make you happy.  If you have others in your life who do none of these things, let them go.
  3. Being alone does not mean you are lonely, and being lonely does not mean you are alone.
  4. Love means giving someone the chance to hurt you, but trusting them not to.
  5. You know you’ve found true love when you catch yourself falling in love with the same person over and over again.
  6. Someone else doesn’t have to be wrong for you to be right.
  7. Never do something permanently foolish just because you are temporarily upset.
  8. It’s not so much what you say that counts, it’s how you make people feel.
  9.  Falling in love is not a choice.  To stay in love is.
  10. Grudges are a waste of perfect happiness.  So let them go!

My personal favourites from the above list are #4 and #5. #5 in particular brings a smile to my face as I can personally say I’ve experienced this one!

What’s the best news you’ve ever been given? Maybe the news that you’ve passed your exams, or someone you care about telling you they love you?

Those things may be great news, but the best news that you will ever come to acknowledge, is that God loves you!

God’s love is unconditional unlike the love we experience from so many people during our lives. You don’t even need to do anything for God to love you, because before you were even born, God knew you and promised to love you always.

How Loved Am I by Lara Martin

O Lord, you are my keeper,
I will never be in want;
You hold me close, so tender,
And quiet me with love.
And I hear You singing over me,
I hear You singing over me.

Songs of countless promises,
Like kisses from heaven they fall.
‘How loved am I.’
Songs that take me to higher heights,
Such favour I know is divine.
‘How loved am I, how loved am I.’

O Lord, You are my keeper,
My heart is safe with You.
Though in life there will be valleys,
You take my hand and lead me through.

People need loving the most when they deserve it the least – John Harrison

Do you think there’s a reason why those most in need of love seem to be the ones who least deserve it?

Probably! If you’ve never experienced true love, and the peace and joy that can bring, how can we think they’ll understand how to treat and respect others.

I’m sure we can all think of people we know personally as well as people those we hear about in the news or on the television. But just because we don;t think someone deserves to be loved, it probably the biggest reason why we should in fact love them!

Love-Me-When-I-Least-Deserve-It

God loves each and every one of us, no matter how many wrongs we’ve committed or whether we believe in Him or not. And that folks, is exactly the reason why we must love everyone, especially those who seem to be unloveable.

They say it takes a minute
to find a special person
an hour to appreciate them
a day to love them
but then an entire life
to forget them.

Do you agree with those words?

How many people from your past who weren’t special to you, do you actually remember much about?

But then there’s the people who have a huge impact on your life, who influence you and make a huge impression on you, do you ever forget about them? I’m sure even if they are people who are long gone, they still come to your mind sometimes, and I’m sure you still love them for being that special to you.

Are there people in your life who are special to you? Have you told them how special they are to you?

Share your happiness, share you joy, tell those special people in your life just how much they mean to you.

Due to several events in the last few weeks, I’ve been very abruptly reminded how important it is to share three little words with those we love:

We never know when we may be spending our last few minutes with those we love, so tell them how much they mean to you on a regular basis. You don;t want to end up living in regret because you just never got around to telling them how much you love them, do you?

Three small words, but they usually mean the world to the person we say them to.

Go on, let your loved one just how much them mean to you, tell them you love them.

Two things that are infinite…mans stupidity and gods love!

So how do we get it down to only one thing that’s infinite? We pray!

In my blog post yesterday, Passionate, I said that

God wants us to love Him passionately, so to be true followers of God we must love God passionately, with more passion than we show for anything or anyone else in this world.

But what does passion actually involve?

Here’s the dictionary definition of passion:

  • ardent love or affection
  • intense sexual love
  • a strong affection or enthusiasm for an object, concept, etc. a passion for poetry
  • any strongly felt emotion, such as love, hate, envy, etc.
  • a state or outburst of extreme anger he flew into a passion
  • the object of an intense desire, ardent affection, or enthusiasm
  • an outburst expressing intense emotion he burst into a passion of sobs
  • (Philosophy) Philosophy – any state of the mind in which it is affected by something external, such as perception, desire, etc., as contrasted with action, or  feelings, desires or emotions, as contrasted with reason
  • (Christian Religious Writings / Theology) the sufferings and death of a Christian martyr

God wants us to be passionate about Him, but he also wants us to show compassion to those we meet and talk to. We live in a world that seems to do everything at 100 miles an hour, and at that speed there’s no time for people to show compassion for one another.

Take a step back from your busy life and take some time out to show compassion for those around you – it may just be what someone has been needing to help them through a difficult time.
