There are certain situations where you have to put your full trust in someone because your life depends on it. Here’s a very examples of varying levels of severity

  • Flying – we put our trust in the pilots that they have been trained well, and are competent at their job.
  • Climbing – we rely on those at the other end of the rope to hold tight in case you lose your footing.
  • Surgeons – when we need an operation, regardless of how minor it is, we put our trust in the surgeon and the theatre staff to take care of you and make sure you get through your operation without any complications.

Each of these situations could end on tragedy if the person you’ve put your trust in is not 100% competent in the job they are doing.

It can be difficult sometimes to know who to trust, particularly when we’re in a stressful or life-threatening situation. But be reassured, there is always one person you can trust to be there for you in every situation – God will always be right there with you because He has promised to never let go of us. So let Him help you be strong, whatever happens.

Do you ever get the feeling that you’ve planned your life away?

We plan our workload and possibly that of others at our place of work; we plan our holidays and vacations; we plan what we’re ging to do with our weekends and our evenings when we’re not working; we plan our meals for the coming days/week when we do our weekly supermarket shopping etc.

Why do we do so much planning? Well I have to be honest and say I’ve no idea, other than for people like me who like to be very organised, it makes perfect sense to organise my personal time just as I do my working day!

That’s all fine, but then today, I got thinking (I know that’s dangerous!), I plan my life, but do I ask God for advise on what my plans should include? My honest answer is that I do, but not nearly as much or as often as I should. No wonder I get frustrated and annoyed when other things make me change my plans! If only I’d asked God to help me plan!

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!

I’m not saying that if we ask God for advise when compiling our plans, unexpected things will never happen. However through planning our lives to do God’s will, we will be stronger people when we have to deal with the unexpected, regardless of whether it’s an unexpected good or bad things that comes our way.

Remember whatever comes our way, God is with us and is there to pilot us through the unexpected as well as the planning things of life.

If your way is dark and full of doubt
Let Jesus be your pilot,
He will surely bring you out
Your path may be steep and narrow,
But Jesus waits to welcome you home.

And our Pilot never parts.

We can all make the most of each opportunity which comes our way, though sometimes we can find it’s outwith our own reach, but these are the times we must fully rely on our Pilot, Jesus.

Even when we haven’t been presented with an opportunity to move forward, we can still need help from out Pilot because life can be very tough to cope with a times – Situations and people come our way which can cause us to question ourselves, our decisions, our future, and sometimes even our faith or beliefs. These are times we must put our full faith in our Pilot, because he is always by our side, to guide us through the journey known as life.
