So that’s Christmas and New Year over, and soon we’ll all be back at work or school, and everything will be back to normal…whatever normal might be!

I’m sure many are already thinking about the big credit card bills that will soon be coming our way, or complaining about all the food we’ve consumed over the festive period (again!). Many of us will have made new year resolutions to make changes in our lives, so our lives can be “better” in 2016. So let me ask you a question about your new year resolutions, were any of your new year resolutions about your relationship with God?

Maybe God’s never been part of your life, or maybe you used to believe in God but events or people made you doubt Him and turn away from Him, or maybe you still believe he exists but just haven’t taken that extra step and given Him your heart…whatever your current relationship is with God (if any), why not make a new start with God and give Him your heart at the start of this new year.

What Now? by Steven Curtis Chapman

I saw the face of Jesus
In a little orphan girl
She was standing in the corner
On the other side of the world
And I heard the voice of Jesus
Gently whisper to my heart
Didn’t you say you wanted to find Me
Well, here I am, here you are

So what now
What will you do now that you’ve found Me?
What now
What will you do with this treasure you’ve found
I know I may not look like what you expected
But if you’ll remember
This is right where I said I would be
You found me, what now?

And I saw the face of Jesus
Down on Sixteenth Avenue
He was sleeping in an old car
While his mom went looking for food
And I heard the voice of Jesus
Gently whisper to my soul
Didn’t you say you wanted to know me
Well, here I am
And it’s getting cold

So what now
What will you do now that you’ve found Me?
What now
What will you do with this treasure you’ve found
I know I may not look like what you expected
But if you’ll remember
This is right where I said I would be
You found me, what now?

 So come and know
Come and know, know me now
Come, come and know, know me now
 Oh, come and know
Come, come and know, know me now
Come, come and know, know me now

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy and blessed 2016!

Thank you for following my blog, I pray that in this coming year I may challenge and inspire you, as well as giving you a laugh sometimes. Thank you for your support.

We may not know what lies ahead of us this year, but whatever 2016 may bring our way, I pray you will find the love, strength and support to face it all from your family and friends, but even more so from God.

A new day and a brand new year has come, bringing with it opportunities to shine.

Do you feel tired and weary, or do you feel alive and full of energy?

How about your spiritual life, is it difficult or non-existent, or is it thriving and growing daily?

The state of your spiritual life is very dependent on your personal relationship with God, so if your spiritual life is difficult and in need of revival or rebuilding, there really is only one thing to do, get down on your knees and pray!

kneeling is the perfect position to pray

A friend on Facebook recently posted this, and it really got me thinking…

Teacher of God

…it got me thinking of several people I have who have made me feel like that – as if I’m the only person in the room, that they are talking directly to me, even when I’m surrounded by lots of others.

At those times I remember sitting there thinking, “How do they know how I’m feeling?”

I also remember that at those times I never once considered it was God’s handiwork, that was until later. Then later when I reconsidered those special moments that I realised it had all been God’s doing, as it was Him who was talking to me through His messenger, and my teacher.

I thank God for wonderful spiritual teachers who inspire us and speak to us directly from God.

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy and blessed 2015!

Relationship_with_GodIt’s almost the end of 2014, so let’s look back over your year from a spiritual perspective. So to help with this, here’s some questions for you:

  • Have you prayed regularly during 2014?
  • Have you listened to what God has to say to you in this last year?
  • Have you said “yes” to all God has asked you to do this year?
  • When difficult times have come along during 2014, did you turn to God for help immediately, or wait until turning to God was your last resort?
  • Have you done your best to tell others about Jesus?
  • Has God been at the centre of all you’ve done in 2014?

If you’ve answered “Yes” to all of the above questions, well done, you’re obviously doing the best you can to be a good example of Christ to those you encounter.

Sadly, I guess if we are honest with ourselves, many of us, including me, will find we did not answer “Yes” to all those questions, but answered either “No” or “Sometimes” to at least one or two of the questions. Thankfully, regardless of our answers to these questions, we have time to change so that we can answer “Yes” to all the above questions honestly, just by trusting God to help us in every part of our life, not just the parts we’re choose to let Him into.

So as 2014 draws near, draw closer to God and let Him into every part of your life.

You’re all I want
You’re all I’ve ever needed
You’re all I want
Help me know you are near

When you read the title of this blog post, what did you think of?

I guess for many of us we associate the word with the being reborn in Christ, changing our lives by giving our all, our life, our heart to God, and rejecting the things that are unchristian-like.

Why not be reborn in Christ this year, because it’s time be reborn in your faith today…

I hope you enjoy Bellshill Salvation Army Band playing the Salvation Army selection entitled Faith Reborn:

Yesterday, I urged you to make a new start with God at this start of this new year (A New Year and a New Start), but I know for some of you that may be difficult because of things that have happened in your past where maybe you’ve questioned God’s reason for letting something to happen, or maybe the complete opposite, maybe you feel God let you down by not being there for you when you needed him most, or maybe you were let down by people who said they were Christians but in fact acted in a completely un-Christlike manner towards you.

hands reaching to each otherWhatever your past history with God, God is still waiting for you to turn to Him and is reaching out to you to take His hand. Even if you thought God deserted you in the past, I can assure you that He did not because God always answers our prayers, maybe not today or tomorrow, or even in the way we wanted Him to, or expected Him to, but He will answer our prayers, and He is always by our side.

I have felt in the past that God has deserted me, and so I turned away from Him, but after struggling about on my own for a while, God answered the prayers I had voiced over a year in the past, not in the way I expected, but He did answer them. I can therefore assure you that even if you think God has forgotten you, He hasn’t, just wait for Him, just as He is now waiting for you.

Forget your past and make God your present and your future, His waiting for you today.

So that’s Christmas and New Year over, and everything is beginning to get back to normal…whatever normal might be!

We’ve probably all spent too much money on Christmas presents and eaten far too much food, that we’re all making new year resolutions to change this thing or that thing in our life, to save money and/or lose weight, but what about your spiritual life? Have you stopped to consider what you need to do to make a new start with God this year?

Maybe you’ve never truly believed in God, maybe you believe he exists but just haven’t taken that extra step and given Him your heart…whatever state your spiritual life may be in, why not make a new start with God and give Him your heart for 2014, and forever more.
