I’ve done a few Word Associations with you in the past, and last Saturday I did the first of these for a wee while, so I thought I’d do another one today. When you read each word, please note down the first word that comes into your mind when you read each word – Don’t take time to think about your answer, as it’s your initial response that’s important here.

So here goes…

1. Glasgowpower-of-words

2. Money

3. Frightened

4. The armed forces

5. Video

6. Shopping

7. Water

8. Arthritis

9. Child abuse

10. Language

So how did you get on with those words? Did you find it easy? Did your answers surprise you or were they just as you expected?

Well here’s my responses to my questions:

1. Home

2. Bank

3. Scared

4. War

5. DVD

Were any of your answers the same as mine? Did any of my answers confuse you? Did any of your own answers confuse you?

I’ve said in previous word association posts that I find I get a bit stressed when I’m doing these, as I put a lot of pressure on myself not to over think my answers! Are you relaxed when you do them or do you find it stressful too?

I still believe that when we respond with the first words that come into our minds, our answers tell us a lot about our emotional state, and what’s important to us at that particular point in time.

Bearing all this in mind, review your answers, does my theory hold true?

I sometimes just pick some really random words and just try this myself just to see what my answers are – I know that really does sound sad, but I often find it illuminating to discover what is occupying my subconscious…I’d urge you to try it out for yourself.

There are lots of people in this world who look at everything negatively, and only see the worst in every situation and every person. But whatever you do, don’t let these folk make you mean or hard-hearted.

Stay focused on what you believe, stay positive, and above all,  stay focused on God and you will not been drawn into the negativity that surrounds some other people. If you trust fully in God, He will keep you true to Him and to yourself, by helping you to be positive no matter what life may throw your way, and helping you to try to do good even when those around you may try their best to bring you down by acting and talking negatively.

So don’t be hard-hearted, keep God at the centre of all you do because He alone can help you do His will.

How’s your week been? Busy? Quick?

Well my week at work has been one of those where I’ve been really really busy, but now the week’s over I can’t actually list you anything I’ve achieved!

It’s funny how we get weeks like that isn’t it? It’s been a weeks where I’ve just had one thing after another to do, with not much time to stop and take breath, or assess what I have or haven’t achieved.

I always find it funny how when you’re really busy you feel as if you’ve achieved little, but when you’ve had a bit more time to focus and do your own thing, it often feels like you’ve achieved more. Imagine what it would be like if we combined those two things. i.e. Achievement with constantly busy…

If we did all the things we are capable of doing, we would astonish ourselves.

Yeah! Imagine we were always focused on our work and constantly completing our allocated tasks and achieving other objectives too…wouldn’t that be amazing! I guess our workmates and managers would wonder what’s happened to us all if we all started over achieving!

Anyway, after an extra busy week at work, I’m glad to have a couple of days of no work…mind you that doesn’t mean I’m not busy with other important family things!

I’m hoping for a slightly less busy week at work next week, but ‘ll be surprised if that happens as looks like we’ll be moving office!

Ever come across someone who appears to listen to you but later shows they really haven’t listened to a single word you’ve said?

I would guess we all know someone like that! I would also guess that they are not particularly caring people when it comes to others, am I right?

J Clarke once said

One who cares is one who listens.

and that kind of sums up what I was saying doesn’t it.

Of course there is one person who we can all talk to who I guarantee will always listen to every word you say, and will show is love and compassion for you on a daily basis. Do you know who I’m talking about?

GOD!

Don’t ever stop caring about others. Be Christ-like and listen to what others say to you and saw you care about them.

Someone recently said to me, “If you’re hurting–you’re growing”.

I must be honest and say that when they told me that, I laughed (in disbelief) as I couldn’t understand how I can possibly be growing just because I’m hurting. However on considering this a bit more, I realised that this statement is probably true.

After all how do you learn to deal with hurt and disappointment, except by experiencing them, as you can’t really teach someone how to cope with these things.

Therefore, when you’re hurting, don’t forget that by dealing with your hurt, you are in fact gaining real life experience and so are growing as a person.

The other thing to always remember when you’re hurting is that you are not alone…Draw nearer to God & let Him be your strength.

I’ve done a few Word Associations with you over the last few months, so today I’m going to give you another one. So as usual I’m going to throw some words at you  and I want you to note down the first word that comes into your mind when you read each word.

Do you like these Word Association games? As I’ve said in my previous word association posts, I find I get a bit stressed when I’m doing them as I put a lot of pressure on myself not to over think my answer!

I still think when we truly do respond with the first words that come into our mind, our answers tell us a lot about our emotional state, and what’s important to us at that particular point in time.

Bearing all this in mind, review your answers, does my theory hold true?

As I said before, I sometimes just pick some really random words and just try this myself just to see what my answers are – I know that sounds really sad, but I often find it illuminating to discover what is occupying my subconscious…I’d urge you to try it out for yourself.
