When you look around you, what do you see?

Do you see a world full of despair and brokenness, or do you see the wonder of nature and people who are valuable who can change the world?

When God is at the centre of our lives, God is part of everything in our life and then we will see the beauty in everything, and the best in everyone.

That’s the kind of view of the world I want, how about you?

When you feel like those around you don’t want you around, and you feel rejected by the world. Always remind yourself you are not really alone, because God loves you!

God loves you and can help feel part of this world, His world, again.

Remember God loves you!

These days, when we look at this world, it can cause us to feel sad, depressed, shocked, maybe even terrified, because let’s be honest, there is a lot of bad, or evilness around these days.

Psalm 27:13 (NLT)
Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living.

We need to be positive, God is here with us in they world, and with his help I believe, we can change this world from one where evil is to the fore, to one where love overcomes evil.

Thursday 2nd March was world book day 2017. IF I’m honest, when I first hear it was world book day I didn’t really know what that meant, but once I found out more I realised this was such a great idea to try to get kids interested in books and reading more.

So what is world book day?

World book day was designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of authors, books and reading, and is marked in over 100 countries all over the world.

2017 is the 20th year there’s been a World Book Day. In the UK the main aim of world book day is to “encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own”.

As part of this schools and nurseries that registered for world book day were sent packs of Book Tokens and age-ranged World Book Day Resource Packs which contained ideas, activities and display material about how to get involved in World Book Day.

The children then take their voucher to a local bookseller and can use it to pick one of a new and exclusive book free, or they can get £1 off any book or audio book costing.

When I was in the car on Thursday they were interviewing someone from World Book Day, and was saddened to hear that from many children World Book Day was the only way they actually got a book of their own.

Reading and access to books should be a standard part of every kid’s childhood. After all if they don’t grow up reading and loving books, how will they ever get into reading?

So well done to all schools and nurseries that took part in this year’s World Book Day, I hope once again it got kids closer to the books and authors they already love, and let them discover more books and authors they’ll love every bit as much in the future.

Reading or listening to the news recently, I get the distinct impression that now more than ever, our world needs God.

How does the world find out that God is the answer to all our needs? We have to tell them! Are you ready to help save the world for God today?

It will come

We have to believe, we must believe, that the light of the world will light this dark world of ours.

god's unconditional love

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there was no more pain and misery in this world, and we all loved one another unconditionally?

That image of a peaceful, loving world is ultimately what I guess we all wish for this world. So if that’s what we wish for this world, what are we s individuals, and as communities, and churches, doing to try and teach the world to love one another unconditionally?

The answer to how we achieve this for the world, is found in God, because He can teach us to teach one another unconditionally.

When you are looking forward to something waiting can be very difficult. However when you are waiting for something that you are not looking forward to, while it can also be very difficult, but for completely different reasons.

Sadly the world in which we live these days is a world in great need. It is a world in great need of a Saviour, and that’s why when I was reminded of a beautiful song by Howard Davies, I had to include it in this blog post as it fits so perfectly. So please listen to the music in the video below, and follow the words of the song, as it really does remind us that All the World Is Waiting for Jesus:

All the world is waiting, waiting Lord for thee.

How creation groans in anguish, crying to be free!

Lord, we trust thy promises, to quickly come again!

Even so, Lord Jesus, come, O come!

Even so, Lord Jesus, come, O come!

All the world is longing, longing to be free

From the power of sin and death and darkness, let it be!

Holy Spirit, move the hearts of those in unbelief!

Even so, Lord Jesus, come, O come!

Even so, Lord Jesus, come, O come!

All the world is hoping love and peace to see;

Sons of God are hoping, waiting, trusting but in thee!

Glorious that future day, when raised to die no more!

Even so, Lord Jesus, come, O come!

Even so, Lord Jesus, come, O come!

Have you ever thought about how many people you see or are in contact with on a daily basis?

As a test of this, on one day last week I tried to count roughly how many people that I was in contact with (by phone, email, text or in person) from the time I left the house in the morning until the time I got home at night – At a rough count I estimated I was in contact with somewhere between 60 and 70 people.

To be honest, that number surprised me, as I hadn’t expected there to be so many people!

This got me thinking about how many of those people may or may not know Christ in their lives. Imagine if every day we each reached out to just 1 person we’re in contact with, and told them about Christ – Imagine how many people would soon hear about Christ. That sounds like a challenge to me!

Are you up for the challenge?

Here’s the Sydney Staff Songsters singing Reach The World, which remind us that reaching out to just one person, is how we can start to tell the world about God!

reach out

Are you awake?

Have you seen the light?

Have you accepted the light of the world into your life?

If not, it’s time to wake up and see Christ.

Ephesians 5:10-14 (Living bible)

Learn as you go along what pleases the Lord. Take no part in the worthless pleasures of evil and darkness, but instead, rebuke and expose them. It would be shameful even to mention here those pleasures of darkness that the ungodly do. But when you expose them, the light shines in upon their sin and shows it up, and when they see how wrong they really are, some of them may even become children of light! That is why God says in the Scriptures, “Awake, O sleeper, and rise up from the dead; and Christ shall give you light.”
