Your career makes a living but your calling makes your life.

So today’s question for you is twofold:

  1. Is your career fulfilling your ambitions?
  2. Have you accepted your calling?

As far as my first question is concerned, many find themselves falling into a particular job or career simply because of circumstances, i.e. It was the only job they could get, while others may have following a childhood dream, or through their academic achievements found certain opportunities opened for them.

Now my second question is for me the more interesting one, as in order to accept your calling, you have to first listen to God as He directs you , and then choose to accept the plan He has for your life.

It may be difficult to change your career, particularly given the current economic climate and lack of job opportunities at present. However it is never too late to say, “Yes”, to God’s calling. So whether you’ve been swithering for a short time, or ignoring God for years, it’s not too late to accept God’s calling now, today!

I hope you enjoy listening to the International Staff Songsters of the Salvation Army singing Christ Calls, as the message in this song, reinforces what I’ve written in this blog post:

In Jesus Christ every one of God‘s promises is a “Yes” (2 Corinthians 1:19)

During life, there are many times when we questions God, and ask Him why He hasn’t done this or that, or why He hasn’t answered a specific prayer. It’s funny how we’re always quick to question God when we don’t get our own way isn’t it!

Surely we should be concentrating on what God has promised he will do for us.

As the above song The Promise by The Martins says, God always keeps His promises:

‘Cause you know I made a promise that I intend to keep
My grace will be sufficient in your time of need
My love will be the anchor that you can hold on to
This is the promise, this is the promise I’ve made to you

I’m praying Lord break me
I’m praying Lord take me
I’m praying Lord make me
All I’ve failed to be

Yes, we may have failed many times in our life. Yes, we may failed others many times in our life, but God still loves us and will forgive us if only we will give ourselves to Him.

God and only God knows us and truly understands our failings and can help us achieve all we are capable of.

Sometimes when life sucks, and I feel like I’m drowning in all that’s going on around me, I take a few minutes to remind myself that:

God is working things out for you even if you don’t feel it, have faith and be thankful

Yes, it can be tough to remember that God is still working in your life, when it seems nothing is going right for you. But by having faith in God and all He can and will do for you, you will find that you will see how God is working in your life.

God is always there for you, and is always working in your life, so have faith in God and give thanks to Him for all He does for you each day.

Why is it that some people just seem to lie freely without a second thought?

Why is it that some people tell us lies without even realising what they are saying can’t possibly be true?

Why do people tell us lies about others in the knowledge that the other person they are talking about is a friend and therefore respected by us, so we’ll obviously find out they have lied about them?

And the worst of all it when the person actually says things to you about yourself which you know are total lies!

Lying can be hurtful and can destroy relationships so why do some people think it’s ok to do it?

For me I think a lot has to do with how the person lying, feels about themself. i.e. are they insecure, trying to show their power or influence over others, or simply showing off?!

Whatever the reason, there is really no justifiable reason for lying to someone. I recently lost all respect for someone because they said I had said and done specific things which quite frankly, if they knew me at all, would know, they were things I would never ever do!

Some people just aren’t worth getting hot and bothered about, as any problem that exists is obviously with them. So don’t let those in your life who lie to you, rule your life, to make to form inaccurate views of yourself or others.

Believe in yourself and try not to be wrongly influenced by those who would seek to give you false information.
