My week in review – week #24 2023

It’s been another week of beautiful hot sunny weather again. I really couldn’t have asked for better weather for my two week’s annual leave. But just as the it’s now cloudy with rain and thunderstorms forecast (but still very hot), so it’s the end of my annual leave as I go back to work on Monday.

We’ve not done a huge amount during my two weeks off, mainly because it’s been so hot, but have managed to get several jobs that have been needing done in the house/garden for a while, actually started, or arranged to be done soon.

I’ve continued enjoying catching up on some books that I’ve not had time or inclination to read. I’ve also managed to do some tidy up work in the garden too – I’m no gardener, so I do it just to try and keep the front and back gardens tidy. I was able to do a bit gardening, then have a cold drink and a have a seat in the garden, do some reading, and then repeat until complete…I could have got used to this!

Some things we had planned to do we did get around to this week, so will make plans for them in the coming weeks. Our excuse is simply that it was too hot to do much, and we’re sticking to that excuse! LOL

Had a few things to do for Bellshill Salvation Army Band while I was off too – organise/confirm with others to do band practice devotions for the final couple of practices. And for me, to prepare the thought/devotions for during our annual Music For A Summer’s Evening concert last night. As usual I had written doing lots of thoughts that had come into my mind to use in the devotions, ever since I was first asked to prepare them. But then trying to pull them together into something that flows and makes sense was my challenge. As usual I wrote, and rewrote, and then rewrote my thought several times, until finally at 11:00 yesterday (Friday) morning I had to just say to myself to stop changing it, and just leave them as they were, as I wasn’t improving my devotions in any way, just simply changing my words. From the feedback I got last night from a few folk, I think I did ok….speaking in public is very definitely still not my thing, which is probably why I keep changing what I want to say, right up to the last minute. I was therefore glad once I had presented my devotions…and relax…as much as I could in the exceptionally hot hall!

Still dealing with some other things in my life, but it’s been good to have 2 week’s leave from work, and time to destress.

Let’s see whether next week’s review is as positive as I have been today, given I return to work on Monday!
