Do you know why we celebrate Christmas?

If Christ hadn’t been born in Bethlehem all those years ago in a stable, we wouldn’t be celebrating Christmas.

If Christ didn’t die on a cross at Calvary, just to save us, we wouldn’t celebrate Easter, and we wouldn’t be free to live the lives we do.

Aren’t they two of the best reasons why we should celebrate this Christmas, for the right reasons? CHRIST

I Am a Soldier
Author unknown
I am a soldier in the army of God.
The Lord Jesus Christ is my Commanding Officer.
The Holy Bible is my code of conduct.
Faith, Prayer, and the Word are my weapons of Warfare.
I have been taught by the Holy Spirit, trained by experience, tried by adversity, and tested by fire.
I am a volunteer in this army, and I am enlisted for eternity.
I will either retire in this Army or die in this Army;
but, I will not get out, sell out, be talked out, or pushed out.
I am faithful, reliable, capable, and dependable.
If my God needs me, I am there.
I am a soldier. I am not a baby.
I do not need to be pampered, petted, primed up,
pumped up, picked up, or pepped up.
I am a soldier. No one has to call me, remind me, write me, visit me, entice me, or lure me.
I am a soldier. I am not a wimp.
I am in place, saluting my King, obeying His orders,
praising His name, and building His kingdom!
No one has to send me flowers, gifts, food, cards, candy, or give me hand-outs.
I do not need to be cuddled, cradled, cared for, or catered to.
I am committed. I cannot have my feelings hurt bad enough to turn me around.
I cannot be discouraged enough to turn me aside.
I cannot lose enough to cause me to quit.
When Jesus called me into this Army, I had nothing.
If I end up with nothing, I will still come out even. I will win.
My God will supply all my needs. I am more than a conqueror.
I will always triumph. I can do all things through Christ.
Devils cannot defeat me. People cannot disillusion me.
Weather cannot weary me. Sickness cannot stop me.
Battles cannot beat me. Money cannot buy me.
Governments cannot silence me, and hell cannot handle me!
I am a soldier.
Even death cannot destroy me.
For when my Commander calls me from this battlefield,
He will promote me to a captain.
I am a soldier, in the Army, I’m marching, claiming victory.
I will not give up. I will not turn around. I am a soldier, marching Heaven bound.

There are four kinds of soldiers in God’s army:

  1. Active Duty: Serving the Lord faithfully, daily, and on duty 24-7-365.
  2. Reserve Status: Serving only when called upon, or twice a year: Christmas and Easter.
  3. Guard Status: Backing up the Active Duty group.
  4. AWOL – Absent With Out the Lord.

Which kind of soldier are you?

All the Way My Saviour Leads Me by Chris Tomlin

I am so glad I believe and trust the words of the above song…

All the way my Saviour leads  me
Who have I to ask beside
How could I doubt His tender mercy
Who through life has been my guide

Because, I am sure that without God by my side, I would not have got through these last few years, never mind these last few months.

I believe God can help me through every situation I encounter in life, and I believe He can, and will help you too, all you have to do is let Him lead you.

How deep the Fathers love for us.
How vast beyond all measure, that He should give His only son to make a wretch His treasure.
Why should I gain from His reward,
I cannot give an answer.
But, this I know with all my heart,
His wounds have paid my ransom.

Christ willingly died for us. He shed His blood just so we could live.

I will never forget the great sacrifice Christ gave for me, and that is why today, I again say thank you to God for accepting me for who I am, faults and all. I believe because I have given my heart, my life, my all to Him, that He can achieve all He needs and wants me to.

It was my sin that held him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying words have brought me life
I know that it is finished.
I’m alive and well
Your spirit is within me
Because you died and rose again

I am alive, but I don’t always feel well. However in a spiritual sense all is well.

That hasn’t always been the case though I’m afraid, as I have been through some very dark times, when I did question God, and felt He had deserted me. However having got through those times, I know that the only reason I made it through those days was because God was with me and He was the one responsible for helping me through those days.

God lives in me, and I pray that as I live each day, others may realise these is something different about me, and that they can see Christ in me.

Amazing love
How can it can
That thou my God should die for me

I find it totally amazing that someone should died just so I can forever be forgiven of my sins. I don’t know about you, but I know of no-one else that would actually be willing to give their life for me.

Christ died over 2 thousand years ago, but still we celebrate His life, and His death after all these years. Who else can we say that about?!

As I’ve said several times over the last few days, I feel so humble and inadequate at all God has sacrificed for me, and all He continues to do for me. However, I know I can repay God for all the love He shows me on a daily basis, by giving the whole of my life to God.

How about you, are you thanking God for all he does for you by giving your life to Him? If you haven’t done so yet, today, Easter Monday is your day to say “Yes“, to Christ!

Power of the cross is what makes today a day to celebrate Christ, and God’s love for every one of us.

Christ is alive, He is risen from the dead and He is Lord!

Easter Sunday, today, is one of the happiest in the Christian calendar. Why? Because today we celebrate the resurrection of Christ. So let’s celebrate today by rejoicing in God’s love for each one of us.

God gave His son for us, so in return let’s celebrate this Easter by give our all to God.

What does Easter mean to you?

For me Easter is all about sacrifice, the sacrifice that Jesus made for each one of us on the cross when he bled and died, just so we can all be forgiven of our sins. I find it almost impossible to truly understand the pain and agony Jesus suffered when he was crucified.

Can you imagine how God felt, giving up his one and only son, just so the world could be forgiven of every sin?

Personally I struggle to comprehend how God must have felt, but I am forever in God’s debt because He did allow Christ to die on the cross.

As with every Easter, I feel so inadequate and so unworthy of God’s love. However I am  also so thankful that God does love me unconditionally, and He is always by my side, guiding me and supporting me through each minute of every day, and challenge and problem life throws in my direction.

So if Easter has only ever been about two days off school or work and Easter eggs, I pray this Easter I have given you some food for thought about what Easter is really all about…

Easter is all about “The Cross” and the sacrifice God gave for you and for me.

Laid behind a stone
You lived to die
Rejected and alone
Like a rose
Trampled on the ground
You took the fall
And thought of me
Above all
Lord, make Calvary real to me;
Lord, make Calvary real to me.
Open mine eyes to see victory in Christ for me;
Lord, make Calvary real to me.

Today is Good Friday. A day when Christians around the world remember the day when Christ was crucified on a cross, at Calvary.

Now doesn’t that sound a bit odd, people remembering, and celebrating the death of another? It would if it wasn’t for the significance of the person who was crucified. Jesus Christ, the Son of God who came to earth to live amongst us and teach us how to love one another, was that person. Because Christ died on a cross we have been forgiven of our sins. In other words,

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3:15-17)

So today is all about the cross, the blood, forgiveness and The Christ!

One of my favourite Easter songs is Written in Red. Please listen to the following audio of Olwyn Mathie singing this beautiful song which has such power and emotional words:

If you hear the term Holy Week, what do you think of?

For those of you who don’t know what Holy Week is, here’s some details:

The last week of Lent is known as Holy Week, and this is when Christians particularly, remember the last week of Jesus’ life – It is therefore the week which concludes with Good Friday. i.e. Easter Friday.

Easter is one of the most important times in the Christian calendar, and therefore many churches will hold various services during this week.

Holy Week starts on Palm Sunday, which is the Sunday before Easter, and it is so-called because it celebrates Jesus arriving into Jerusalem for the Jewish festival of Passover. Jesus rode a donkey into Jerusalem, and the people there lay down their cloaks and mall branches in front of him to pave his triumphant entry into Jerusalem.

Psalm 118:26-29 (The Message)

Blessed are you who enter in God’s name — from God’s house we bless you!
God is God, he has bathed us in light.
Festoon the shrine with garlands, hang colored banners above the altar!
You’re my God, and I thank you.
O my God, I lift high your praise.
Thank God—he’s so good.
His love never quits!
