It can be difficult to accept when our friends and family either to do give God their heart and their life, or they claim God does not even exist. In these circumstances we should not give up on them, in fact we must not give up on them, because no matter how unlikely we think it is that they will be saved, it can happen, and it does happen right up until they take their last breath.

So keep praying for them because prayer works

Your prayer for someone may or may not change them, but it always changes YOU ~ Craig Groeschel

You may wonder why prayer will change you, even if it doesn’t change them – Well to be honest I don’t know how the thoughts of the original writer, but I believe it changes us because in my experience we pray more and more for our friends/family members to find God, because we want them to know the same love and peace that we know.

So always pray for those who have not given their lives to God, because not only might they find God, but our prayer life and our relationship with God will flourish!

We live in a time where so many use social media on a daily basis to share with their friends everything that they do and feel. When I say “share with their friends”, I use the word “friend” loosely, as so many have people in their friends-list who are not their friends, as they have never actually met them or spoken to them, some will have “friends” who are simply just strangers who have no-one and nothing in common with them, who have sent them a friend request.

unfriendWhether you are one of these people who send/accept friend requests to/from people you don’t know, or whether you only send/accept friend requests to/from people you know, I’m sure we’ve all at some point or another “unfriended” someone on social media.

How easy it is to throw away a virtual friendship, as simply by clicking one button we can delete someone from our friends list. I don’t know about you, but I actually find that quite sad, even although many of these friendships may simply distant acquaintances, it’s still quite sad that it’s so easy to delete someone from your life.

I’m just glad my friendship with God doesn’t have a delete button, as regardless of my flaws and my failures, He still wants to be my friend. God has sent each of us a friend request, the question is have you accepted His friend request or have you rejected His friend request?

A word of warning, even if you deleted God’s friend request or rejected it, He has automatically sent you another friend request, and He will continue to do so  until you accept Him into your life.

When we struggle to cope with life events, and we wonder if God is really still there for us, remember these words from Just Be Held by Casting Crowns:

If your eyes are on the storm
You’ll wonder if I love you still
But if your eyes are on the cross
You’ll know I always have and I always will

God loved you yesterday, He loves you today, and He will love you tomorrow and the day after that and the day after that…, so don’t ever think He is not there for you. Let Him give you the strength you need by letting Him hold you tight in His arms.

Just Be Held by Casting Crowns

Hold it all together
Everybody needs you strong
But life hits you out of nowhere
And barely leaves you holding on

And when you’re tired of fighting
Chained by your control
There’s freedom in surrender
Lay it down and let it go

So when you’re on your knees and answers seem so far away
You’re not alone, stop holding on and just be held
Your world’s not falling apart, it’s falling into place
I’m on the throne, stop holding on and just be held
Just be held, just be held

If your eyes are on the storm
You’ll wonder if I love you still
But if your eyes are on the cross
You’ll know I always have and I always will

And not a tear is wasted
In time, you’ll understand
I’m painting beauty with the ashes
Your life is in My hands

So when you’re on your knees and answers seem so far away
You’re not alone, stop holding on and just be held
Your world’s not falling apart, it’s falling into place
I’m on the throne, stop holding on and just be held
Just be held, just be held

Lift your hands, lift your eyes
In the storm is where you’ll find Me
And where you are, I’ll hold your heart
I’ll hold your heart
Come to Me, find your rest
In the arms of the God who won’t let go

So when you’re on your knees and answers seem so far away
You’re not alone, stop holding on and just be held
Your world’s not falling apart, it’s falling into place
I’m on the throne, stop holding on and just be held
(Stop holding on and just be held)
Just be held, just be held
Just be held, just be held

Up to something

down to nothing

I’ve found myself in that scenario a few times over the last few years, and I can honestly say that God has definitely been up to something each time, and has got me through those times. It wasn’t easy, and at the time I felt like I really had nothing and had no strength left to carry on. However looking back now, I realise that it’s because of those tough times that my faith is now stronger than ever.

God really was up to something, He was reminding me that He can give me the strength to get through anything and everything!

We all have people in our lives we consider to be role models or examples of how we should live. However there is one role model who we should all seek to emulate, Jesus.

One glorious day over 2000 years ago, Jesus was born here on earth and lived amongst us as our example, and then died, just so we could be forgiven.

Are you living up to His example?

Glorious Day (Living He Loved Me) by Casting Crowns

One day when Heaven was filled with His praises
One day when sin was as black as could be
Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin
Dwelt among men, my example is He
Word became flesh and the light shined among us
His glory revealed

[Chorus:]
Living, He loved me
Dying, He saved me
Buried, He carried my sins far away
Rising, He justified freely forever
One day He’s coming
Oh glorious day, oh glorious day

One day they led Him up Calvary’s mountain
One day they nailed Him to die on a tree
Suffering anguish, despised and rejected
Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He
Hands that healed nations, stretched out on a tree
And took the nails for me

[Chorus]

One day the grave could conceal Him no longer
One day the stone rolled away from the door
Then He arose, over death He had conquered
Now He’s ascended, my Lord evermore
Death could not hold Him, the grave could not keep Him
From rising again

[Chorus]

One day the trumpet will sound for His coming
One day the skies with His glories will shine
Wonderful day, my Beloved One, bringing
My Savior, Jesus, is mine

[Chorus]

All the time

Good is good

It may not always seem to us that what happens to us is for the best, but God always knows what’s best for us. So whatever situations you may find yourself in, be assured that it’s all part of God’s plan for your life.

God is good, and will always be with you, to keep you strong through all situations and circumstances.

Every part

Yesterday in Lay Them Down, I urged you to give our everything to God. Today it’s the same again, but from a different perspective…

Yes, as I said yesterday, we need to give God our everything. That includes everything in your present, your past as well as your worries for the future. God wants every part of our lives, and we need to give Him our all so we can experience that perfect peace that only God can give us.

God is all we need, God is everything we need, so give Him every part of your life.

At You Feet by Casting Crowns

Here at Your feet I lay my past down
My wanderings, all my mistakes down
And I am free

Here at Your feet I lay this day down
Not in my strength but in Yours I’ve found
All I need, You’re all I need

Jesus, Jesus, at Your feet
Oh, to dwell and never leave
Jesus, Jesus, at Your feet
There is nowhere else for me
There is nowhere else for me

Here at Your feet I lay my future down
All of my dreams I give to You now
And I find peace, I find peace

Jesus, Jesus, at Your feet
Oh, to dwell and never leave
Jesus, Jesus, at Your feet
There is nowhere else for me
There is nowhere else for me

Here at Your feet I lay my life down
For You my King, You’re all I want now
And my soul sings

Jesus, Jesus, at Your feet
Oh, to dwell and never leave
Jesus, Jesus, at Your feet
There is nowhere else for me
There is nowhere else for me

‘Cause I am free here at Your feet
All I need is at Your feet
And I find peace, we’re at Your feet
We’re at Your feet

I am free here at Your feet
All I need is at Your feet
I find peace, we’re at Your feet
We’re at Your feet, we’re at Your feet
We’re at Your feet

Here at Your feet I lay my life down

If we look at some of the major world religions, we find that Buddha, Muhammad and Confucius all identified themselves as teachers or prophets, not equals with God.

The one exception to this was Jesus, as although He talked about God, His Father in heaven, it was not from a position of separation, but from a close union, unique to all humankind. Jesus said that anyone who had seen Him, had seen the Father, and  anyone who believed in Him, believed in the Father, His Father, God.

This is backed up in scripture in John 8:12-19 (The Message):

Jesus once again addressed them: “I am the world’s Light. No one who follows me stumbles around in the darkness. I provide plenty of light to live in.” The Pharisees objected, “All we have is your word on this. We need more than this to go on.” Jesus replied, “You’re right that you only have my word. But you can depend on it being true. I know where I’ve come from and where I go next. You don’t know where I’m from or where I’m headed. You decide according to what you can see and touch. I don’t make judgments like that. But even if I did, my judgment would be true because I wouldn’t make it out of the narrowness of my experience but in the largeness of the One who sent me, the Father. That fulfils the conditions set down in God’s Law: that you can count on the testimony of two witnesses. And that is what you have: You have my word and you have the word of the Father who sent me.” They said, “Where is this so-called Father of yours?” Jesus said, “You’re looking right at me and you don’t see me. How do you expect to see the Father? If you knew me, you would at the same time know the Father.”

God revealed himself fully to the world when He sent Jesus, his son to earth to live as a human. So let Jesus’ teachings of God ring true to you, and come to God the Father through Jesus His son, today.

I was recently reminded of the following words from Peter 5:7

You can throw the whole weight of your anxieties on Him, for you are His personal concern! ~ J.B. Phillips

When we’re in trouble, God is there.

When we’re struggling to cope, God is there.

At all times, God is there, and will accept all your problems and worries if you just take them to Him.

What a fantastic remind that when everything seems to be going against as, we simply have to kneel before God and leave all our troubles at His feet.
